Effect of Thermal Treatment on the Fine Structure of Cellulose Materials

The effect of thermal treatment in the range 110-250°C on the structural and sorption characteristics of cellulose was studied by ¹H NMR and sorption methods.     

Dispersity and kinetic characteristics of dissociation of mono- and hemiaquo adducts of copper N,N′-ethylenebis(acetylacetoniminate) under nonisothermal conditions

Using optical microscopy and thermogravimetry, we have established that determination of the kinetic characteristics of dissociation for the monoaquo adduct of copper N,N-ethylene-bis(acetylacetoniminate) with particle size 0.5–2 mm is hindered by self-dispersal processes. Using a piezoquartz microbalance, we have obtained the kinetic parameters for thermolysis for a phase whose crystal sizes are substantially smaller than the minimal size after self-dispersal of a block of a large crystal (0.5–2 m). For thermolysis of the hemiaquo adduct not accompanied by self-dispersal, the kinetic characteristics of the process for phases of dispersity 0.5–2 mm and 0.5–2 m are comparable.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Éksperimental'naya Khimiya, Vol. 28, No. 3, pp. 226–231, May–June, 1992.

Spectral-kinetic evidence of interaction of photochromic diarylethenes with silver nanoparticles

Spectral-kinetic investigations of the photochromism of some diarylethenes with sulfur-containing substituents in dimethylsulfoxide solutions with and without silver nanoparticles are performed. It is shown that silver nanoparticles chemically interact with diarylethene molecules, which is manifested in a change in the spectral and kinetic characteristics and photodegradation efficiency.     

Study of the superconducting gap in a Fe0.5TiSe2 single crystal by ultrahigh-resolution photoemission spectroscopy

The 1T-Fe_0.5TiSe₂ compound has been investigated by ultrahigh-resolution photoemission spectroscopy in order to reveal changes in the density of states at a possible superconducting transition. The experimental results showed the presence of a superconducting gap with a width of about 2 meV in the spectrum measured at 4.5 K.     

Analysis of porous structure of furfurol-based active carbons with application of the density functional theory

Isotherms of nitrogen low-temperature adsorption on active FAS carbons and coconut-shell carbons were studied by the method of the density functional nonlocal theory. Distribution curves of micropore volumes in their width were obtained.m dodecyl sulfate in the presence of hydrogen peroxide under the action of UV light was studied.     

Numerical estimates for stability domains of Lagrangian solutions to the restricted three-body problem

The geometric parameters of stability domains of Lagrangian solutions to the classical restricted three-body problem are quantitatively estimated. It is shown that these domains are ellipsoid-like plane figures stretched along the tangent to the circle that passes through the Lagrangian triangle solutions. A heuristic algorithm is proposed for determining the maximum size of these domains of attraction.     

Porous Structure of Activated Carbon Fibers

The dependence of the microporous structure of activated carbon fibers on the carbonization temperature of hydrate-cellulose fibers was studied by BET, TVFMP, and Horvath and Kawazoe techniques and methods of the nonlocal density functional theory. The surface energy distribution function was obtained, together with the micropore size distribution curves. It was shown that the effective micropore sizes calculated by the TVFMP method are close to the maximum of the distribution function found in terms of the theory of the density functional.
