Selenomethionine contents of NIST wheat reference materials 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Values of the total selenium and selenomethionine (Semet) content of four wheat-based reference materials have been obtained by gas chromatography-stable isotope dilution mass spectrometry methods. The total Se method is an established one, and the results obtained with it are consistent with previously-assigned values. The Semet method (previously reported by our laboratory) is based on reaction with CNBr. Our data indicate that the four wheat samples (wheat gluten, durum wheat, hard red spring wheat, and soft winter wheat), though having a 30-fold range in total Se content, all have about 45% of their total Se values in the form of selenomethionine. Investigation of the CNBr-based method suggests that additional experiments are needed to verify that all selenomethionine in the wheat samples is accounted for, but also indicates that the values obtained are within 15% of the true values. As the form in which Se occurs in foods and dietary supplements is important from a nutritional perspective, adding information about Se speciation to total Se values in appropriate reference materials makes these materials more valuable in relevant analytical work. 相似文献

Many medical professionals are involved in patient care processes. For pharmaceutical care this results in many information transfer moments. To provide optimal care, communication and information the transfer should be conducted in a timely manner, fully transparent, complete and relevant. The TRANSFORM project is directed towards the development of a reference information model of the pharmaceutical care chain with the aim to improve the availability (time, place, completeness) and access of pharmaceutical information regarding patients, thereby resulting in continuity and quality of pharmaceutical care, reduction in medical errors and improvement in patient safety through the design of a safer healthcare system. TRANSFORM leads to improved insight into the processes and data transfer points in the pharmaceutical chain of care. Focussed on laboratory medicine and pharmacy, the implementation of the integration of laboratory test and pharmacy information may result in major improvements in drug therapy monitoring and guidance (i.e. drug impact monitoring). The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) integral quality management model covers nine issues: five so-called
enabler criteria and four so-called result-oriented criteria. The first enabler criterion concerns leadership and covers all
kind of strategic management aspects. However, directly or indirectly, the leadership of the board of directors or its individual
members is characterized and scored. An even more explicate technique, originated in a totally different way, is the 360°
feedback evaluation method. In this paper both methods are compared and practiced on various individuals. A checklist was
developed to facilitate scoring in the EFQM leadership submodel. Both methods, although from a different origin, could be
linked easily, covered very similar aspects and gave results that were in excellent agreement with each other. The scoring
showed almost identical results, supporting in large the use of the integral EFQM model.

Various secondary series are observed in matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) time-of-flight mass spectra of polystyrene. The number and positions of the series depend on the choice of matrix and added cation. For a given treatment, series observed in linear mode are not necessarily observed in reflectron mode, and vice versa. Post-source decay analysis was used to determine that the secondary series arise at least in part from formation and decay of adducts of polystyrene with matrix species. There is some treatment-to-treatment variation, but adduct formation and decay were observed for all tested treatments. The multiplicity of secondary series makes it unclear whether post-source decay occurs for the main series (polystyrene + cation)+ ions under the conditions normally used for polystyrene analysis. Such ions do undergo post-source decay at laser fluences greater than normally used. Although only polystyrene was investigated in this work, other polymers may also produce adduct and decay series in MALDI analysis. Their presence can mask the presence of minor components in a sample, but at least as observed here, do not have a strong influence on molecular mass determinations. 相似文献
