Multiple-charge-quanta shot noise in superconducting atomic contacts

We have measured shot noise in aluminum atomic point contacts containing a small number of conduction channels of known transmissions. In the normal state, we find that the noise power is reduced from its Poissonian value and reaches the partition limit, as calculated from the transmissions. In the superconducting state, the noise reveals the large effective charge associated with each elementary transfer process, in excellent agreement with the predictions of the quantum theory of multiple Andreev reflections.     

Scaling law in carbon nanotube electromechanical devices

We report a method for probing electromechanical properties of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). This method is based on atomic force microscopy measurements on a doubly clamped suspended CNT electrostatically deflected by a gate electrode. We measure the maximum deflection as a function of the applied gate voltage. Data from different CNTs scale into an universal curve within the experimental accuracy, in agreement with a continuum model prediction. This method and the general validity of the scaling law constitute a very useful tool for designing actuators and in general conducting nanowire-based nanoelectromechanical systems.

Diffusion processes in silver-conducting solid electrolyte in terms of the Grafov-Ukshe model of adsorption relaxation of double layer

The results of impedance studies of an interface formed by solid electrolyte RbAg₄I₅ with iodine vapors and certain iodine complexes are compared with the results on the diffusion of minority charge carriers and color centers. The impedance results are analyzed based on the Grafov-Ukshe model for the adsorption relaxation of the double layer (ARDL) [1]. The obtained kinetic parameters agree within the experimental error with the diffusion coefficients found by independent methods. It is shown that the experimental data of impedance measurements agree with the results of calculations in terms of the Grafov-Ukshe ARDL model.
