Synthesis,structure, and acid-base characteristics of enaminones of the barbituric acid series

Enaminones were obtained by a tricomponent condensation of barbituric acids, aniline and triethyl orthoformate. The acid-base properties, PMR, UV and IR spectra of 5-anilinomethylene- and 1,3-dimethyl-5-anilinomethylenebarbituric acids are discussed. The properties of these compounds conform with a bipolar structure, in which the positive charge is distributed over the exocyclic part of the molecule, while the negative charge is distributed on the -dicarbonyl fragment of the heterocyclic ring.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 7, pp. 952–956, July, 1988.     

Production of alkali salts of 2-phenylimino-4-triazolidinone

Reactivity and tautomerism in the azolidine series

A series of 5-benzylidenethiorhodanines was obtained by the reaction of 5-benzylidenerhodanines with P₂S₅. Investigation of the reactivities and tautomerism of azolidines. 40. 2-iminothiazolidin-4-one in the mannich reaction

It is shown that the aminomethylation of 2-iminothiazolidin-4-one and its 5-methyl and 5-arylidene derivatives in an alcohol medium leads to the formation of 6-oxo-2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydrothiazolo [3,2-a]-1,3,5-triazines. Polysaccharide composition ofPolygonum aviculare

A polysaccharide isolated from the epigeal parts ofPolygonum aviculare has been fractionated. It has been shown that the initial polysaccharide consists of at least four fractions differing in their monosaccharide compositions and physico-mechanical properties.     

Methylation of 2-amino-δ2-thiazolin-4-one

It is shown that the nucleophilicity of the sodium salt of 2-amino-²-thiazolin-4-one with respect to dimethyl sulfate and methyl iodide is extremely low, regardless of the nature of the solvent. The anomalous (in the 4-thiazolidone series) behavior of this salt in methylation is explained by the low degree of heterolytic dissociation of the O-Na bond. The possible reasons for the inertness of the oxygen atom in the anions of 2-substituted 4-thiazolidones with respect to alkylating agents are discussed.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 8, pp. 1046–1049, August, 1981.
