New indides Ce3Ge0.66In4.34 and Ce11Ge4.74In5.26 were synthesized from the elements by arc‐melting and subsequent annealing at 870 K. Single crystals were grown through special annealing procedures in sealed tantalum tubes in a high‐frequency furnace. Both compounds were investigated on the basis of X‐ray powder and single crystal data: I4/mcm, La3GeIn4 type, a = 848.8(1), c = 1192.0(2) pm, Z = 4, wR2 = 0.0453, 499 F2 values, 17 variables for Ce3Ge0.66In4.34 and I4/mmm, Sm11Ge4In6 type (ordered version of the Ho11Ge10 type), a = 1199.3(2), c = 1662.0(3) pm, wR2 = 0.0507, 1217 F2 values, 41 variables for Ce11Ge4.74In5.26. The Ce3Ge0.66In4.34 structure shows a mixed Ge/In occupancy on the 4c Wyckoff position. This site is octahedrally coordinated by cerium atoms. These octahedra share all edges, leading to a three‐dimensional network. The latter is penetrated by a two‐dimensional indium substructure which consists of flattened tetrahedra at In–In distances of 291 and 300 pm. The Ce11Ge4.74In5.26 structure contains three crystallographically independent germanium sites. The latter are coordinated by eight or nine cerium neighbors. These CN8 and CN9 polyhedra are condensed to a complex network which is penetrated by a three‐dimensional indium network with In–In distances of 301–314 pm. The 16m site shows a mixed In/Ge occupancy. Chemical bonding in both compounds is dominated by the p elements. Both ternaries studied exhibit localized magnetism due to the presence of Ce3+ ions. The compound Ce3GeIn4 remains paramagnetic down to 1.72 K, whereas Ce11Ge4In6 orders ferromagnetically at TC = 7.5 K.  相似文献

Fluorescence spectroscopy is one of the most powerful tools for characterization of a multitude of biological processes. Of these, the phenomenon of protein oligomerization attracts especial interest due to its crucial role in the formation of fibrillar protein aggregates (amyloid fibrils) involved in ethiology of so-called protein misfolding diseases. It is becoming increasingly substantiated that protein fibrillization in vivo can be initiated and modulated at membrane-water interface. All steps of membrane-assisted fibrillogenesis, viz., protein adsorption onto lipid bilayer, structural transition of polypeptide chain into a highly aggregation-prone partially folded conformation, assembly of oligomeric nucleus from membrane-bound monomeric species and fiber elongation can be monitored with a mighty family of fluorescence-based techniques. Furthermore, the mechanisms behind cytotoxicity of prefibrillar protein oligomers are highly amenable to fluorescence analysis. The applications of fluorescence spectroscopy to monitoring protein oligomerization in a membrane environment are exemplified and some problems encountered in such kinds of studies are highlighted.  相似文献

Elevated levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and deficient mitochondria are two weak points of cancer cells. Their simultaneous targeting is a valid therapeutic strategy to design highly potent anticancer drugs. The remaining challenge is to limit the drug effects to cancer cells without affecting normal ones. We have previously developed three aminoferrocene (AF)-based derivatives, which are activated in the presence of elevated levels of ROS present in cancer cells with formation of electron-rich compounds able to generate ROS and reduce mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP). All of them exhibit important drawbacks including either low efficacy or high unspecific toxicity that prevents their application in vivo up to date. Herein we describe unusual AF-derivatives lacking these drawbacks. These compounds act via an alternative mechanism: they are chemically stable in the presence of ROS, generate mitochondrial ROS in cancer cells, but not normal cells and exhibit anticancer effect in vivo.  相似文献

In this article, we review the state-of-the-art in the preparation and characterization of multicomponent self-assembled superlattices of colloidal nanoparticles with core sizes in the range of 2–20 nm and interparticle spacing less than 2 nm down to intimate contact stemming from sintering. Several aspects of the field are discussed, including: structural organization, the role of particle size distribution, key interparticle forces at play, and methods of investigation of the structures. Contrary to the extensively studied colloidal crystals composed of microscale particles, the nanoparticles possess unique size-dependent properties, such as electronic, optical, or magnetic, which when combined into periodic structures can potentially lead to new collective states stemming from precise positioning of the nanocolloids. As such, we examine a number of emerging applications of this new class of metamaterials. Finally, we speculate on the potential impact of these materials, the new directions, and the challenges for the researchers.  相似文献

The indides Ce7NixGexIn6 and Pr7NixGexIn6 were synthesized from the elements by arc-melting of the components. Single crystals were grown via special annealing sequences. Both structures were solved from X-ray single crystal diffraction data: new structure type, P6/m, Z=1, a=11.385(2), c=4.212(1) Å, wR2=0.0640, 634F2 values, 25 variables for Ce7Ni4.73Ge3.27In6 and a=11.355(6), c=4.183(2) Å, wR2=0.0539, 563F2 values, 25 variables for Pr7Ni4.96Ge3.04In6. Both indides show homogeneity ranges through Ni/Ge mixing (M sites). This new structure type can be derived from the AlB2 structure type by a substitution of the Al and B atoms by CeM12 and NiIn6Ce3 polyhedra (tricapped trigonal prism). Magnetic susceptibility measurements on a polycrystalline sample of Ce7Ni5Ge3In6 indicated Curie-Weiss like paramagnetic behavior down to 1.71 K with the effective magnetic moment slightly reduced in relation to the value expected for trivalent cerium ions. No magnetic ordering is evident.  相似文献

Azepinones are available via a one-pot cycloaddition-ring expansion reaction sequence in good yield. The reactions of azepinones with alkyl halides and epoxides were studied. We report herein protocols for the alkylation of azepinones at nitrogen with alkyl halides and epoxides and the isomerizations that occur in the presence of a base. We also report an unexpected ring contraction under oxidative conditions.  相似文献

Sixteen new asymmetric monomethine cyanine dyes have been synthesized and their spectral characteristics and interaction with double stranded DNA have been investigated. The dyes absorb in the region 453–519 nm and have molar absorptivities in the range 37.900–93.100 l M?1 cm?1. The dyes do not have intrinsic fluorescence, but in the presence of dsDNA they exhibited a significant enhancement in fluorescence. The most pronounced increase was found for D9, D10, D12 and D16 allowing the recommendation of these dyes as the most sensitive DNA markers. Thermodynamic analysis of cyanine–DNA complexation was carried out using the McGhee & von Hippel non-cooperative excluded site model, and binding parameters have been derived. A hypothesis describing the DNA–dye binding mode has been proposed.  相似文献
