Tips and Tricks for the Surface Engineering of Well-Ordered Morphologically Driven Silver-Based Nanomaterials

Particularly-shaped silver nanostructures are successfully applied in many scientific fields, such as nanotechnology, catalysis, (nano)engineering, optoelectronics, and sensing. In recent years, the production of shape-controlled silver-based nanostructures and the knowledge around this topic has grown significantly. Hence, on the basis of the most recent results reported in the literature, a critical analysis around the driving forces behind the synthesis of such nanostructures are proposed herein, pointing out the important role of surface-regulating agents in driving crystalline growth by favoring (or opposing) development along specific directions. Additionally, growth mechanisms of the different morphologies considered here are discussed in depth, and critical points highlighted.     

v-Triazolines. XXXIX . 1,2,4-Triaryl-3-aminopyrroles. Unusual Reaction Products in the Pyrolysis of 5-Amino-v-triazolines and the Crystal Structure of 2-(3-Morpholin-4-yl-2,4-pyrrol-1-yl)benzonitrile

Pyrolysis of 4-aryl-5-amino-v-triazolines affords, generally, amidines and/or benzanilides. Pyrolysis of 4-aryl-5-morpholino-v-triazolines 6 , together with the expected amidines 7 and/or aryanilides 8 , produced the morpholinopyrroles 9 . The reaction mechanism of this unusual transformation is discussed. Influence of solvent dipole moment in pyrrole formation is suggested. Pyrrole 9a [i.e. 2-(3-morpholin-4-yl-2,4-pyrrol-1-yl)-benzonitrile] has been fully characterized and its molecular structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Deformations of arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay subvarieties of pn

We show that every arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay two-codimensional subscheme ofP ⁿ can be deformed to a reduced union of two-codimensional linear subvarieties. This problem (classical for curves with the name of Zeuthen problem) was solved for curves by F.Gaeta.     

Oscillatory kinetics and mechanism of the chromate catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide

Oscillatory change of pH occurs during the chromate-catalyzed decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in a weakly acidic medium at elevated temperature and at high initial concentration of hydrogen peroxide. In a closed system, there are only two or three periods, but sustained oscillation occurs in a CSTR. In a CSTR bistability is also found. In closed systems the temperature exhibits a great maximum (up to 15°C increase), in a CSTR sustained oscillation occurs at a constant stationary temperature.     

Computation of the Maslov index and the spectral flow via partial signatures

Given a smooth Lagrangian path, both in the finite and in the infinite dimensional (Fredholm) case, we introduce the notion of partial signatures at each isolated intersection of the path with the Maslov cycle. For real-analytic paths, we give a formula for the computation of the Maslov index using the partial signatures; a similar formula holds for the spectral flow of real-analytic paths of Fredholm self-adjoint operators on real separable Hilbert spaces. As applications of the theory, we obtain a semi-Riemannian version of the Morse index theorem for geodesics with possibly conjugate endpoints, and we prove a bifurcation result at conjugate points along semi-Riemannian geodesics. Time reversal for infinite-dimensional diffusions

Summary In this paper we analize the reversibility of the diffusion property for the solution of certain infinite-dimensional systems of stochastic differential equations. Necessary and sufficient conditions ensuring this reversibility are given.
