Synthesis and properties of anthracene-containing polybenzyls

A number of alternating copolymers containing anthryl and aryl units in the polymer chain have been prepared by Friedel-Crafts arylation of the anthracene (polymer type B) or by condensation of 9,10-bis(chloromethyl) anthracene with opportune aromatic substrates (polymer type A). Polymers of type A were all found to contain 9,10-disubstituted anthracene units, but polymers of type B were found to contain 1,4-disubstituted anthracene units. Structure of the polymers were established through their NMR and ultraviolet spectra, and through analogy with appropriate model compounds. It has been found that the inclusion of anthracene units in the polymer chain yields higher melting and more soluble materials with respect to polybenzyls containing only aryl units. Anthracene units introduce, also, some interesting fluorescence characteristics in the polymers, which show intense emission at about 440 mμ.     

SYNTHESIS AND NMR SPECTROSCOPIC STUDY OF NEW 5-METHYLFURYL-CONTAINING SCHIFF BASES AND RELATED BIS(AMINOPHOSPHONATES)

The synthesis of three novel 5-methylfuryl-containing Schiff bases: N,N′-bis(5-methylfurfurylidene)-4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane, N,N′-bis(5-methylfurfurylidene)-1,4-phenylenediamine, and N,N′-bis(5methylfurfurylidene)benzidine and the corresponding bis(aminophosphonates) derived from them, 4,4′-bis{N-methyl(diethoxyphosphonyl)-1-[(5-methyl)-2-furyl]} diaminodiphenylmethane, 1,4-bis { N-methyl(diethoxyphosphonyl)-1-[(5-methyl)-2-furyl]} diaminobenzene, and bis{N-methyl(diethoxyphosphonyl)-1-[(5-methyl)-2-furyl]}- benzidine, is reported. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analysis, TLC, IR, and NMR ( ¹ H, ¹³ C, and ³¹ P) spectra. For comparison, new ¹³ C and ³¹ P NMR data of three furyl-containing analogues of the above bis(aminophosphonates) are also regarded. The NMR studies of the two series of bis(aminophosphonates) reveal the presence of one diastereomer (meso or racemic form).     

Crystal and molecular structure ofN,N′,N″-tritosyl-5,8,14,17,23,26-hexamethyl-2,11,20-triaza[3.3.3]-paracyclophane 1 : 1 dichloromethane clathrate

The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound, C₅₁H₅₇N₃O₆S₃·CH₂Cl₂ has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis and refined to anR-value of 0.069 for 1032 reflections. The crystal is trigonal, space groupR3, witha = 21.255(7),c = 11.317(4), andZ = 3. One molecule of dichloromethane used as solvent is enclathrated in the crystal lattice.

Algebra 44(5):1836–1851.[Taylor & Francis Online], [Web of Science ®] , [Google Scholar]] hold under the assumption (not explicitly declared) that B = f(A)+J. Furthermore, we provide here the exact value for the embedding dimension of A?^fJ, also when B≠f(A)+J, under the hypothesis that J is finitely generated as an ideal of the ring f(A)+J.
