The adsorption of maleic anhydride on the Si(001) surface has been investigated using the first-principles pseudopotential formalism. Our total-energy calculations suggest that maleic anhydride (C2H2-C2O3) adsorbs preferentially through a [2+2] cycloaddition of the C=C bond ([2+2]) with an adsorption energy of around 42 kcal/mol. Besides the [2+2] configuration we have also considered other possible coverages and adsorption models, including the adsorption on inter-row and intrarow dimer sites. Based on the analysis of the relative stability of different adsorption models, we propose the formation of mixed domains, containing the [2+2] unit and an interdimer unit. The comparison of our calculated electronic band structure, vibrational modes, and scanning tunneling microscopy images for the [2+2] and the favored interdimer adsorbed structures corroborate our proposed mixed domain model. 相似文献

Capillary electrochromatography (CEC) has been utilized to analyze free fatty acids (FFAs) and fatty acid phenacyl esters (FAPEs) originating from vegetable oils and margarine. The analyses were performed on capillaries 25 and 40 cm long, 100 microm ID, and packed with 3 microm Hypersil ODS. Isocratic elution was achieved with the mobile phase acetonitrile/50 mM 2-(N-morpholino)ethane sulfonic acid (MES), pH 6, at a ratio of 9:1. For quantitative analysis, the formation of FAPE derivatives is preferred. Moreover, the number of double bonds in the FAPEs can be elucidated by measuring the UV absorbance ratio of 240:210 nm. For the determination of the oleate/elaidate ratio in margarines, the FFAs are analyzed because of overlap of elaidate/palmitate in FAPE analysis. Data obtained with CEC and micro liquid chromatography (LC) were compared and CEC was found to be far superior in terms of efficiency and speed of analysis. Summary Taking into account the problems of desertification and agricultural practices able to provide income to the population at the semi-arid region of North-East Brazil, this work presents the results of the chemical and thermal characterization by TG and DSC of the seed derivatives of Cnidoscolus quercifolius , hereinafter called faveleira, aiming at the application of these materials as an alternative of food source for animals and for the human population at this region. The faveleira seed derivatives present thermodynamic properties similar to the ones of other foods utilized for human use, as well as an acceptable calorific value. The elemental composition of pine trees as a function of age was achieved by the tree-ring method. By using instrumental neutron activation analysis, trace elements were determined in individual rings ofPinus elliottii var.elliottii of 32, 14 and 9 years, from an implanted forest ofPinus sp., Buri, São Paulo, far away from industrial pollution. Different components of the system such as needles, pith, bark, soil and litter were also analyzed for 18 elements (As, Br, Ce, Co, Cs, Eu, Fe, Hf, K, La, Mn, Na, Rb, Sc, Sm, Yb, Zn, and Zr). Al, B, Ba, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, and P concentrations were determined by atomic absorption and/or emission spectrometry (AAS; ICP-AES). Some elements have showed similar radial distribution of the concentration for the three ages. The antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of petroleum ether and methanol extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters from leaves of Smilax brasiliensis were evaluated, and the composition of the extracts was determined. Palmitic, linoleic and linolenic acids were major components of the extracts. For antioxidant activity, all samples exhibited IC50 values lower than BHT (2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol). The extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters from S. brasiliensis presented no toxicity to larvae of the brine shrimp, Artemia salina. Among the purified substances, only methyl linolenate showed toxicity (LD50 = 21.47 μg/mL). This study showed, for the first time, the composition of petroleum ether and methanol extracts from S. brasiliensis leaves, as well as the antioxidant and cytotoxic activities of extracts, fatty acids and methyl esters. 相似文献
