Development of Synergistic Stabilizing Compositions for Polyolefins and Evaluation of Their Performance

A series of new synergistic polyfunctional stabilizing compositions phenol-phosphite for polyolefins were developed. Their performance as antioxidants, color stabilizers, and agents preventing thermomechanical degradation was quantitatively evaluated.     

Color Stabilization of Polymers with Formulations Containing Di(hydroxyphenyl)methane Stabilizers

The possibility was examined of developing noncoloring stabilizing formulations based on di(hydroxyphenyl)methane stabilizers with addition of agents that decompose hydroperoxides without generation of radicals and thus inhibit formation of -hydroxyphenylmethylenequinones, or of components that ensure transformations of these quinones into colorless products.     

Oxidation of 3,5,3',5'-Tetra-tert-butyl-4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl with Atmospheric Oxygen in the Absence of Base Catalysts

Use of dimethylformamide as solvent and preliminary addition of 3,5,3',5'-tetra-tert-butyl-4,4'-diphenoquinone allow oxidation of 3,5,3',5'-tetra-tert-butyl-4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl with atmospheric oxygen to be efficiently performed in the absence of base catalysts.
