Heavy ion irradiation in the electronic stopping power region induces macroscopic dimensional change in metallic glasses and introduces magnetic anisotropy in some magnetic materials. The present work is on the irradiation study of ferromagnetic metallic glasses, where both dimensional change and modification of magnetic anisotropy are expected. Magnetic anisotropy was measured using Mössbauer spectroscopy of virgin and irradiated Fe40Ni40B20 and Fe40Ni38Mo4B18 metallic glass ribbons. 90 MeV 127I beam was used for the irradiations. Irradiation doses were 5×1013 and 7.5×1013 ions/cm2. The relative intensity ratios D 23 of the second and third lines of the Mössbauer spectra were measured to determine the magnetic anisotropy. The virgin samples of both the materials display in-plane magnetic anisotropy, i.e., the spins are oriented parallel to the ribbon plane. Irradiation is found to cause reduction in magnetic anisotropy. Near-complete randomization of magnetic moments is observed at high irradiation doses. Correlation is found between the residual stresses introduced by ion irradiation and the change in magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

A photophysical and photochemical study of a biphotochromic compound where two naphthopyran units are linked by an acetylene-thiophene-acetylene bridge has been carried out in toluene. Both fluorescence and intersystem crossing to the triplet manifold were found to compete with the photocoloration process. Two photoproducts (transoid-trans and transoid-cis stereoisomers), absorbing at approximately 480 nm and corresponding to the opening of a single photochromic unit, were detected by spectrophotometric analysis after short irradiation time in diluted solution and identified by 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. After prolonged irradiation at 228 K of highly concentrated solutions (up to 3 x 10(-3) mol dm(-3)), two additional isomers, absorbing at approximately 550 nm, were formed. Their NMR spectra indicate the opening of both photochromic units. An interesting effect of selective vibronic excitation was found, showing that the photoreaction is favored at excited vibronic levels to the detriment of the radiative relaxation.  相似文献

The efficiency of the photochemical ring-opening of chromenes (or benzopyrans) depends on the vibronic transition selected by the chosen excitation wavelength. In the present work, ab initio CASPT2//CASSCF calculations are used to determine the excited-state ring-opening reaction coordinate for 2H-chromene (C) and 2,2-diethyl-2H-chromene (DEC) and provide an explanation for such an unusual mode-dependent behavior. It is shown that excited-state relaxation and decay occur via a multimodal and barrierless (or nearly barrierless) reaction coordinate. In particular, the relaxation out of the Franck-Condon involves a combination of in-plane skeletal stretching and out-of-plane modes, while the second part of the reaction coordinate is dominated exclusively by a different out-of-plane mode. Population of this last mode is shown to be preparatory with respect to both C-O bond breaking and decay via an S(1)/S(0) conical intersection. The observed mode-dependent ring-opening efficiency is explained by showing that the vibrational mode corresponding to the most efficient vibronic transition has the largest projection onto the out-of-plane mode of the reaction coordinate. To support the computationally derived mechanism, we provide experimental evidence that the photochemical ring-opening reaction of 2,2-dimethyl-7,8-benzo(2H)chromene, that similarly to DEC exhibits a mode-dependent photoreaction, has a low ( approximately 1 kcal mol(-1)) activation energy barrier.  相似文献

In subnormal glow discharge under d.c. excitation at different pressure in a varying transverse magnetic field (0 to 30 G) some measurements have been carried out for various initial average tube currents. The voltage across the discharge increases and average tube current and residual current decreases in the magnetic field. With the help of Beckman’s expression [4] for the axial field and the electron density distribution in a transverse magnetic field the observed variation of current and voltage can be satisfactorily explained. The variation of axial electric field with transverse magnetic field can be represented to a fair degree of accuracy by the derived equation. The behaviour of residual current with magnetic field has been observed in these oscillations.  相似文献

χ-, κ- and α-alumina phases formed by dehydration of micro-grained gibbsite between 773 and 1573 K are studied using infrared spectroscopy (IR). The structural transitions evidenced by X-ray diffraction (XRD) were interpreted by comparing IR measurements with ab initio simulations (except for the χ form whose complexity does not allow a reliable simulation). For each phase, IR spectrum presents specific bands corresponding to transverse optical (TO) modes of Al-O stretching and bending under 900 cm−1. The very complex χ phase, obtained at 773 K, provides a distinctive XRD pattern in contrast with the IR absorbance appearing as a broad structure extending between 200 and 900 cm−1 resembling the equivalent spectra for γ-alumina phase. κ-alumina is forming at 1173 K and its rich IR spectrum is in good qualitative agreement with ab initio simulations. This complexity reflects the large number of atoms in the κ-alumina unit cell and the wide range of internuclear distances as well as the various coordinances of both Al and O atoms. Ab initio simulations suggest that this form of transition alumina demonstrates a strong departure from the simple pattern observed for other transition alumina. At 1573 K, the stable α-Αl2Ο3 develops. Its IR spectra extends in a narrower energy range as compared to transition alumina and presents characteristics features similar to model α-Αl2Ο3Ab initio calculations show again a very good general agreement with the observed IR spectra for this phase. In addition, for both κ- and α-Αl2Ο3, extra modes, measured at high energy (above 790 cm−1 for κ and above 650 cm−1 for α), can originate from either remnant χ-alumina or from surface modes.  相似文献

SOPPA(CCSD) calculations show that the FC term is the most important contribution to the through‐space transmission of JFN coupling constants for the fluoroximes studied in this work. Because of the well‐known behavior of FC term, a new rationalization for the experimental TSJFN SSCC is presented. It is mainly based on the overlap matrix (Sij) between fluorine and nitrogen lone pairs obtained from NBO analyses. An expression is proposed to take into account the influence of the electronic density (Dij) between coupled nuclei as well as the s% character at the site of the coupling nuclei of bonds and non‐bonding electron pairs involved in Dij. In using this approach, a linear correlation between TSJFN versus Dij is obtained. The most important aspect of this rationalization is related to the facility for understanding the behavior of some unusual experimental coupling constants. It is shown that, at least in this case, the electronic origin of the so‐called through‐space coupling is transmitted through to the overlap of orbitals on the coupled atoms, suggesting that, at least for these compounds, instead of through‐space coupling, it should better be dubbed as ‘through overlapping orbital coupling’. An intercalated nanocomposite made of montmorillonite nanoclay, MMT, and poly(trimethylene terephthalate), PTT, was produced by twin screw extrusion and characterized by wide angle X‐ray diffraction, WAXD, and transmission electron microscopy, TEM. The quiescent isothermal and non‐isothermal and the flow‐induced crystallization of the nanocomposite were studied by differential scanning calorimetry, DSC, polarized light optical microscopy, PLOM, and rheometry. The quiescent results showed that the nanoclay acted as an efficient nucleating agent for the PTT, which result in an anticipation of the transition temperature between regimes II and III of crystallization. The fold interfacial free energy, σe, of the PTT in the nanocomposite during regime III was lower than in the pure state; that is, the pure PTT developed spherulites, whereas in the nanocomposite it produced a paracrystalline morphology. Under shear rate, the total times for crystallization in the nanocomposite were higher than in the pure PTT. In flow‐induced crystallization, a fibrillar nucleus must be formed as a result of chain orientation. In the nanocomposite, chain orientation only occurred after the percolated structure was broken. Theoretical and experimental studies on (3)J(C2H6eq) NMR spin-spin coupling constants in both the 2-X-4-t-butyl-cyclohexanone (X = H, CH(3), F, Cl, and Br) and in their alcohol derivatives series are reported. Results thus found are rationalized in terms of the transmission of the Fermi contact contribution to such couplings. To this end, dependencies of (3)J(C2H6eq) couplings versus the C(2)-C(1)-C(6) angle are compared in both series for equatorial and axial X orientations. The main trend is described in terms of the rear lobes interaction. Besides, for X = halogen atom in equatorial orientation a rather strong interaction between oxygen and halogen lone pairs is observed, and its influence on (3)J(C2H6eq) couplings is discussed and rationalized in terms of different Fermi contact transmission pathways.  相似文献

We present a numerical study concerning the defocusing mechanism of isochronous resonance island chains in the presence of two permanent robust tori. The process is initialized and concluded through bifurcations of fixed points located on the robust tori. Our approach is based on a Hamiltonian system derived from the resonant normal form. Choosing a convenient parameter in this system, we are able to depict a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of the problem.  相似文献

Potential utilization of calcium alkoxides as stone consolidants was considered. Reaction of Ca(OCH3)2, Ca(OCH2CH3)2(CH3CH2OH)4 and Ca[OCH(CH3)2]2 with the atmosphere in different experimental conditions was studied. The reaction produced CaCO3 and two different pathways seem to be involved, the first taking place through CO2 insertion into the Ca–O bond of Ca(OR)2 species with formation of an alkylcarbonate derivative, subsequently transformed into CaCO3 through ROH elimination; the second takes place through hydrolysis of Ca(OR)2 to Ca(OH)2, which is then carbonated to CaCO3. The vaterite/calcite ratios found in the final CaCO3 vary considerably with the experimental conditions adopted. Investigations demonstrated the potentiality of Ca(OCH3)2 to act as a stone consolidant. In fact, impregnation of a porous substrate, simulating the deteriorated stone, with a methanol solution of Ca(OCH3)2, produced a crystalline vaterite film, which gradually filled all the pores and cavities of substrate and seems to fulfil the necessary requirements for a consolidant.
