A series of doped CeF(3): RE(3+) (RE(3+): Tb(3+), Eu(3+) and Dy(3+)) nanoparticles were synthesized, with the aim of obtaining a white light emitting composition, by a simple polyol route at 160°C and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and photoluminescence. Uniformly distributed and highly water-dispersible rectangular nanoparticles (length ~15-20 nm, breadth ~5-10 nm) were obtained. The steady state and time resolved luminescence studies confirmed efficient energy transfer from the host to activator ions. Lifetime studies revealed that optimum luminescence is observed for 2.5 mol% Dy(3+) and 7.5 mol% Tb(3+). The energy transfer efficiencies (Ce(3+) to activators) were found to be 89% for CeF(3): Tb(3+) (7.5 mol%) nanoparticles and 60% for CeF(3): Dy(3+) (2.5 mol%) nanoparticles. Different concentrations of Tb(3+), Eu(3+) and Dy(3+) were doped to achieve a white light emitting phosphor for UV-based LEDs (light emitting diodes). Finally CeF(3), triply doped with 2.0 mol%Tb(3+), 4.5 mol% Eu(3+) and 3.5 mol% Dy(3+), was found to have impressive chromaticity co-ordinates, close to broad day light. The colloidal solutions of doped CeF(3) nanoparticles emitted bright green (Tb(3+)), blue (Dy(3+)) and white (triply doped) luminescence upon host excitation. Composites of poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) and poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) were made with CeF(3): 5.0 mol%Tb(3+), CeF(3): 5.0 mol% Dy(3+) and triply doped white light emitting composition. The CeF(3)/PMMA (PVA) nanocomposite films, so obtained, are highly transparent (in the visible spectral range) and exhibit strong photoluminescence upon UV excitation.  相似文献

Microalgae have been proposed as a promising source for biodiesel production. Focusing on algal strains for biodiesel production, efforts should be made to search new strains. Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of growth parameters (nutrients, pH, light, aeration and temperature) and the oil percentage of eight algal strains (Chlorella sp., Cladophora sp., Hydrodictylium sp., Oedogonium sp., Oscillatoria sp., Spirogyra sp., Stigeocolonium sp., Ulothrix sp.). Results show that 6.5–7.5 is the optimum pH for the growth of all algal species. Temperature showed a greater variation (25°40°C). Ulothrix sp. gave more biomass productivity and is the most suitable strain for biodiesel production due to higher oil percentage (62%). Least biomass production was observed for Stigeocolonium sp. and least oil content was obtained from Hydrodictylium sp. It was observed that among these eight algal strains for biodiesel production, Ulothrix and Chlorella are the most promising algae species.  相似文献

A rare alkaloid, shahidine (1), having an unstable oxazoline core has been isolated as a major constituent from the fresh leaves of Aegle marmelos. It is moisture-sensitive, and found to be the parent compound of aegeline and other amides, however, it is stable in dimethyl sulfoxide. Its structure was established by spectroscopic analysis. Biogenetically, oxazolines may be considered as the precursor of hydroxy amides and oxazoles found in plants. Shahidine (1) showed activity against a few Gram-positive bacteria.  相似文献

Polycrystalline samples of La2MMnO6 (M = Co and Mg) were prepared by a combined gel‐combustion and high temperature reaction method. The samples were annealed in different oxygen partial pressure (pO2) and characterized by powder XRD, SQUID magnetometry, ac impedance spectroscopy, and electron paramagnetic resonance techniques. Monoclinic (P21/n) and rhombohedral (R$\bar{3}$ ) lattices were observed for La2CoMnO6 and La2MgMnO6, respectively. On annealing in inert atmosphere, La2MgMnO6 partially converted to monoclinic La2CoMnO6 type structure, whereas no structural change was observed in La2CoMnO6. Dielectric studies of La2CoMnO6 indicated relaxor like behavior with polaronic conduction, which systematically decreased with the increase in pO2 of the annealing atmosphere. Magnetic studies indicated multiple ferromagnetic phase transitions in La2CoMnO6 and a spin‐glass like phase transition in La2MgMnO6. The fraction of ferromagnetic phases of La2CoMnO6 was significantly dependent on the annealing environments. The variations of magnetic and dielectric properties of samples were related to the fluctuation of oxidation state of transition metal ions and oxygen vacancies in the samples.  相似文献

This paper describes a new approach to discretizing first- and second-order partial differential equations. It combines the advantages of finite elements and finite differences in having both unstructured (triangular/tetrahedral) meshes and low-order physically intuitive schemes. In this ‘co-volume’ framework, the discretized gradient, divergence, curl, (scalar) Laplacian, and vector Laplacian operators satisfy relationships found in standard vector field theory, such as a Helmholtz decomposition. This article focuses on the vorticity–velocity formulation for planar incompressible flows. The algorithm is described and some supporting numerical evidence is provided.  相似文献

Rare-earth-doped gadolinium fluoride nanocrystals were synthesized by a single step synthesis employing ethylene glycol as solvent. Based on X-ray diffraction studies, stabilization of hexagonal modification of GdF(3) has been inferred. The microscopic studies show formation of uniformly distributed nanocrystals (~15 nm). The nanoparticles are readily dispersible in water and show bright luminescence in colloidal solution. The luminescence properties have been investigated as a function of activator concentrations, and enhanced optical properties have been attributed to efficient energy transfer from the Gd(3+) to the activator RE(3+) ions, which has further been confirmed by steady-state and time-resolved optical studies. It has been demonstrated that on doping appropriate amount of activators in host GdF(3), a novel white-light-emitting phosphor is obtained with CIE co-ordinates and correlated color temperature (CCT) very close to broad daylight. This can have promising applications as phosphor for white-light ultraviolet-light-emitting diodes (UV-LEDs). Our experiments showed efficient labeling of human breast carcinoma cells (MCF-7) by Tb(3+)-doped GdF(3) nanoparticles. The fluorescence intensity was found to be dependent on the surface modifying/coating agent, and the results were validated using confocal microscopy in terms of localization of these functionalized nanoparticles.  相似文献

Two novel halopyrazole derivatives (3, 5) were synthesized from 5-chloro-3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazole-4-carboxaldehyde (1) using appropriate synthetic routes. Newly synthesized compounds were characterized using elemental analysis, spectral data (IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectrometry) and were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) were determined for the test compounds as well as for reference standards. The investigation of antimicrobial screening revealed that compounds (3, 5) showed good antibacterial and antifungal activities, respectively.  相似文献

In the recent years, there has been an emerging research interest in the domain of C−C bond-cleavage reactions. The present contribution deals with the redox-mediated dioxygen activation and C−C bond cleavage in a diruthenium complex [(acac)2RuII(μ-L1)RuII(acac)2], 1 (acac=acetylacetonate) incorporating 2,2′-pyridil (L1) as the bridging ligand. The above process leads to a C−C-cleaved monomeric product [(acac)2RuIII(pic)], 2 (pic=piconilate). Intriguingly, similar diastereomeric complexes [(acac)2RuII(μ-L2)RuII(acac)2], meso (ΔΛ): 3 a and rac (ΔΔ/ΛΛ): 3 b , involving an analogous diimine bridge (L2=N1,N2-diphenyl-1,2-di(pyridin-2-yl)ethane-1,2-diimine), were stable towards such oxidative transformations. Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical studies, in combination, establish the potential non-innocent feature of the 2,2′-Pyridil (L1) and its derivative (L2) both in oxidation and reduction processes. Additionally, theoretical calculations have been employed to verify the redox states and their behavior. Furthermore, transition state (TS) calculations at the M06L/6-31G*/LANL2DZ level of theory together with detailed kinetic studies outline a putative mechanism for the selective transformation of 1 → 2 involving the formation of an intermediate bearing peroxide linkage to complex 1 .  相似文献

A series of Mn-substituted BaMgF(4) samples have been synthesized by a hydrothermal route. X-ray diffraction study reveals that the products are monophasic in nature. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometry (EDS) studies were carried out to investigate the morphology and stoichiometry for these compounds. X-ray photoelectron spectroscoy (XPS) and electron spin resonance (ESR) studies were done to confirm the oxidation state of dopant ion. Room temperature ferromagnetism was observed on Mn substitution at the Mg site in BaMgF(4) samples. The saturation magnetization increases initially, shows a peaking effect, and then decreases with further increase in Mn concentration in BaMg(1-x)Mn(x)F(4) (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15). However, ferroelectricity was found to decrease with an increase in Mn concentration in the series of investigated BaMg(1-x)Mn(x)F(4) (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15) samples. First-principle calculations, using the projector augmented wave potentials on Mn-substituted BaMgF(4), confirmed the decrease in magnetic moment with an increase in Mn content beyond certain concentration. These samples exhibit very weak magnetocapacitive coupling, which can be attributed to the very small magnetic signal observed in these samples.  相似文献
