Filter-radiometer-based realization of candela and establishment of photometric scale at UME

The luminous intensity unit of candela was realized based on filter-radiometer, which is traceable to detector-based primary standard electrical substitution cryogenic radiometer (ESCR). In that realization the traditional Osram Wi41/G-type incandescent lamp and filter-radiometer consisting of an aperture, a V(λ) filter and a silicon photodiode based trap detector were used as light source and detection element, respectively. Measurement techniques of effective aperture area, spectral transmittance of V(λ) filter and absolute responsivity of trap detector are also presented.     

Isovector solitons and Maxwell's equations

We present an isovector Lagrangian, which admits stable, nonsingular soliton solutions in three space dimensions. The spherical solution and its total energy are obtained via a variational procedure. An antisymmetric, second-rank tensor is defined in terms of the isovector field and its derivatives. This tensor satisfies Maxwell's equations. The corresponding current is identically conserved and the total charge is topologically quantized.     

A Method for the Acetylation of Alcohols Catalyzed by Heteropolyoxometallates

Summary. Esterifications of acetic acid with some linear, secondary, tertiary, and benzylic alcohols mediated by catalytic amounts of Keggin, Wells–Dawson, and Preyssler type heteropolyacids were carried out under reflux at mild reaction conditions with good to excellent yields. Among the examined catalysts, H₃PW₁₂O₄₀ and H₁₄NaP₅W₃₀O₁₁₀ revealed better results than other heteropolyacids. This work was performed with the aim of simplifying the esterification process by omitting any solvents and mineral acid catalysts. Easy work-up, low cost, and acidic waste reduction, which are all important features from the environmental and economical points of view, are distinct aspects of this protocol. Heteropolyacid catalysts could be separated after a simple work-up and reused for several times.     

Dynamics of solitons in inhomogeneous Josephson junctions

We examine the dynamics of sine-Gordon solitons in an inhomogeneous Josephson junction. Two types of inhomogeneity are worked out: (1) varying refractive index or dielectric constant, and (2) varying parameters in the nonlinear term. Simplified analytical explanations are also presented for the numerical results.     

The facile and efficient Michael addition of indoles and pyrrole to alpha,beta-unsaturated electron-deficient compounds catalyzed by aluminium dodecyl sulfate trihydrate [Al(DS)3].3H2O in water

Aluminium dodecyl sulfate trihydrate [Al(DS)3].3H2O is easily prepared and can be used as a Lewis acid surfactant catalyst in water to conduct the highly efficient Michael addition of indoles and pyrrole to alpha,beta-unsaturated electron-deficient compounds at room temperature.     

Synthesis of 11C-amides using [11C]carbon monoxide and in situ activated amines by palladium-mediated carboxaminations

[11C]Carbon monoxide at low concentrations, aryl halides and amines were used in the palladium-mediated synthesis of twenty 11C-amides. In the study several approaches to improve the radiochemical yield were explored. Eight of the selected amides were prepared by in situ activation of the amines using lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide and the radiochemical yields of these reactions were improved compared to utilising a previous reported method. In the synthesis of 1-[carbonyl-11C]benzoyl-3-methyl-1H-indole (11) from 3-methyl-1H-indole (25), the corresponding organotin-amine was prepared prior to the acylation reaction. In a typical experiment, N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)[carbonyl-11C]acetamide (5) was prepared in 15% radiochemical yield using 4-aminophenol (20) but the yield increased to 63% when the amine was activated by lithium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide.     

Effects of strain on shot noise properties in graphene superlattices

In this paper the transmission and the shot noise properties through the strain-inducedgraphene superlattices are studied. It is found that for the zigzag direction strain theFano factor shows a peak at new Dirac-like point and the position of the new Dirac pointvaries against the strain. Also, Fano factor has an oscillatory behavior with respect tostrain strength and the oscillation period decreases by increasing the number of barriers.However, for the armchair direction strain the transmission can be blocked by the electricbarrier and the Fano factor approaches 1, this is different from the zigzag directionstrain.     

Nanocrystalline TiO2-HClO4:A novel,efficient and recyclable catalyst for the chemoselective N-Boc protection of amines under solvent-free conditions

Nanocrystalline TiO₂-HClO₄,as newly reported catalyst,has been used as an efficient and reusable catalyst for the chemoselective N-Boc protection of amines.The clean,mild acidity condition, quantitative yields of products,short reaction time and low reaction temperature are attractive features of this reaction.In practice,this method is a combination of a satisfactory synthesis and more significantly easy product isolation and purification.
