Synthesis and ring-chain isomerism of acid chlorides and amides of 2-(2-pyridyl and 2-quinolylcarbonyl) benzoic acids

The reaction of 2-(2 pyridytcarbonyl)benzoic acid with thionyl chloride affords an unexpected product of the intramolecular acylation of the pyridine nitrogen atom, namely, 6,11-dioxo-6,11-dihydrobenzo[blquinotizinium chloride. At the same time, 2-(2-quinotylcarbonyl)benzoic acid forms the expected cyclic acid chloride, namely, 3-(2-gitinotyl)-3-chlorophthalide in this reaction. Both compounds acylate ammonia and primary amines, including those with bulky alkyl groups (tert-butyl, 1-adamantyl, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl) with the formation of 2-R-3-hydroxy-3-(2pyridyl- or 2-quinolyl)isoindolines. The protonation of the pyridine nitrogen atom of N-(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl)-2-(2pyridylcarbonyl)benzamide, obtained in the open amide form, is accompanied by the closing of the isoindotinone ring; the deprotonation is accompanied by ring opening.Riga Technical University, Riga LV-1048. ZnO:Mn as a member of II-VI:Mn family

ZnO:Mn thin films are grown by the metal organic chemical vapor deposition technique. Mn (x) varies in the 0<x<0.44 range. Vegard’s law has been verified for the lattice parameters. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements prove the substitutional incorporation of Mn²⁺ on zinc sites. The behavior of the EPR line width regarding temperature is discussed. All ZnO:Mn layers show antiferromagnetic interaction and a J₁/k_B=-15 K effective exchange constant. The optical band gap of ZnO:Mn increases with the manganese concentration. X-ray fluorescent and EXAFS studies of the electronic and spatial structure of dialkyl sulfides and their PdCl2 complexes in extraction systems

SK_α, SK_β, ClK_β, ClK_β, and PdL_β2 X-ray fluorescent and PdK EXAFS spectra were obtained for some organic solutions of dialkyl sulfide complexes with palladium chloride. Solvent effects on the electronic and spatial structure of complexes in solution are discussed. In the benzene solution of [PdCl₂2(C₆H₁₃)₂S], complex molecules interact with solvent molecules along a coordinate that is perpendicular to the plane of the complex molecule. Modulation of Particle Concentrations in the Interference Laser Radiation Field

Spatial redistribution of microparticles in a suspension on exposure to the interference laser field depending on the parameters of the particles and the field characteristics has been analyzed theoretically. Results of experimental investigations are presented that illustrate the capture of an ensemble of polymeric small spheres and also of the lymphocytes of human blood and other microparticles in a liquid in the interference radiation bands of the He–Ne laser.
