Multiple-zero multiple-pole optical filter transfer functions may be implemented more efficiently in an integrated optics architecture if higher order N × M optical couplers are utilized. For example, a coherent ring resonator made from two 3×3 couplers offers some advantages over the three mirror Fabry-Perot etalon, which is its analog. To this end we develop the formalism for obtaining the transfer functions and scattering matrices of ring resonators made from two N × M couplers. We then present a methodology for analyzing serial and parallel systems of N × M optical coupler ring resonators. 相似文献

A method was developed for the recovery and determination of cyanide ion in organic sample matrices. To facilitate the solubilization of cyanide ions, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was added at concentrations above the critical micelle concentration. Sample cyanation reaction products consisted of solvent mixtures of a hydroxynitrile in DMF-toluene or DMF-isopropylacetate (IPAC). Spectrophotometric determination of cyanide ion at 578 nm by the pyridine-barbituric acid method was automated by flow injection analysis. Recovery of cyanide ion from spiked samples was 93.2% in DMF-IPAC solvent matrix and 93.9% in DMF-toluene. Low alkali concentration was observed to favor solubilization of cyanide ion in the micellar solution. 相似文献

Autler-Townes splitting (ATS) and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) both yield transparency in an absorption profile, but only EIT yields strong transparency for a weak pump field due to Fano interference. Empirically discriminating EIT from ATS is important but so far has been subjective. We introduce an objective method, based on Akaike's information criterion, to test ATS vs EIT from experimental data for three-level atomic systems and determine which pertains. We apply our method to a recently reported induced-transparency experiment in superconducting-circuit quantum electrodynamics. 相似文献

The Grothendieck compactness principle states that every norm compact subset of a Banach space is contained in the closed convex hull of a norm null sequence. In this article, an analogue of the Grothendieck compactness principle is considered when the norm topology of a Banach space is replaced by its weak topology. It is shown that every weakly compact subset of a Banach space is contained in the closed convex hull of a weakly null sequence if and only if the Banach space has the Schur property. 相似文献

Acoustic time reversal is a robust means of retrofocusing acoustic energy, in both time and space, to the original sound-source location. However, noise may limit the performance of a time-reversing array (TRA) at long source-array ranges, or when the original-source or TRA-element power levels are low. The operation of a TRA requires two steps (reception and transmission) so both TRA-broadcast noise and ambient noise must be taken into account. In this paper, predictions are made for how a simple omnidirectional noise field influences the probability that the signal amplitude from a narrow-band TRA will exceed the noise at the TRA's retrofocus. A general formulation for the probability of TRA retrofocusing, which can be used for TRA design, is developed that includes: the variance of the noise field, the original source strength, the TRA's element output power, the number of TRA elements (N), and the propagation characteristics of the environment. This formulation predicts that a TRA's array gain (in dB) at the retrofocus may be as high as + 10log10(N) to + 20 log10(N) depending on the relative strengths of the original source and the TRA's elements. Monte Carlo simulations in both a free-space environment and a shallow-ocean sound-channel environment compare well to this probability formulation even when simple approximate parametric relationships for the appropriate Green's functions are used. Classical optical lithography is diffraction limited to writing features of a size lambda/2 or greater, where lambda is the optical wavelength. Using nonclassical photon-number states, entangled N at a time, we show that it is possible to write features of minimum size lambda/(2N) in an N-photon absorbing substrate. This result allows one to write a factor of N2 more elements on a semiconductor chip. A factor of N = 2 can be achieved easily with entangled photon pairs generated from optical parametric down-conversion. It is shown how to write arbitrary 2D patterns by using this method. 相似文献

In some instances the reaction is diverted to give products derived (at least formally) from an ene reaction. A study of the determination of aluminum by atomic absorption spectroscopy has been made using a solution of aluminum cupferrate in 4-methyl-2-pentanone to feed oxy-acetylene or oxy-hydrogen flames. Investigations were made on the effect of the variables, viz., slit-width, flow rates, flow ratios and flame positions, on the intensity of aluminum absorption. The data were studied to determine the optimum conditions. These investigations brought out the comparative merits of the two flames for the determination of aluminum, and also elucidated the mechanism of aluminum absorption in an oxy-acetylene flame. 相似文献
