Cospectral polymers: Differentiation via semiflexibility

We consider polymer structures which are known in the mathematical literature as "cospectral." Their graphs have (in spite of the different architectures) exactly the same Laplacian spectra. Now, these spectra determine in Gaussian (Rouse-type) approaches many static as well as dynamical polymer characteristics. Hence, in such approaches for cospectral graphs many mesoscopic quantities are predicted to be indistinguishable. Here we show that the introduction of semiflexibility into the generalized Gaussian structure scheme leads to different spectra and hence to distinct macroscopic patterns. Moreover, particular semiflexible situations allow us to distinguish well between cospectral structures. We confirm our theoretical results through Monte Carlo simulations.     

Low-velocity viscous incompressible fluid flow around a hollow porous sphere

The problem of a viscous incompressible fluid flow around a hollow porous sphere in the Stokes approximation, in which the filtration flow through the sphere shell obeys the Darcy law, is solved. The force acting on the sphere from the fluid is calculated. The limiting cases are considered. The stream function is constructed.     

Coherent Dynamic Structure Factor of a Polymer Chain Confined Into a Harmonic Radial Potential

The coherent dynamic structure factor of a single polymer chain is calculated based on the model of a Rouse polymer chain constrained (confined) by a harmonic radial potential and its behavior in different limiting cases is analyzed. The strength of confinement is characterized using an effective diameter of the harmonic radial potential as a model parameter. The method provides a reliable model to study the crossover between unconstrained (Rouse) and constrained dynamics.

     

Quantization of triangular Lie bialgebras

We derive a universal twisting element for an arbitrary triangularγ-matrix using a simple analogue of the Fedosov quantization method.
