We have made a direct determination of resonant screening (the depolarization field effect) in the collective intersubband excitations of a dense two dimensional electron gas. The effect was observed, for both odd and even parity transitions, in polarized inelastic light scattering spectra of a modulation-doped GaAs-AlGaAs superlattice. We offer a quantitative interpretation in terms of the Coulomb matrix elements for the transitions. Final state, or exciton-like, many-body effects are considered briefly. 相似文献

This article describes mathematical models for phase separated mixtures of materials that are in pressure and velocity equilibrium but not necessarily temperature equilibrium. General conditions for constitutive models for such mixtures that exhibit a single mixture sound speed are discussed and specific examples are described. 相似文献

The well-tempered Gaussian basis sets (14s 10p) for atoms from lithium to neon were contracted and used in restricted Hartree–Fock calculations on 13 systems: Li2(Σ), B2(Σ), C2(Σ), N2(Σ), O2(Σ), F2(Σ), Ne2(Σ), LiF(Σ), BeO(Σ), BF(Σ), CN?(Σ), CO(Σ), and NO+(Σ). Spectroscopic constants (Re, ωe, ωexe, Be, αe, and ke) and one-electron properties (dipole, quadrupole, and octupole moments at the center of mass and electric field, electric field gradient, potential, and electron density at the nuclei) were evaluated and compared with the Hartree–Fock results. The largest contracted basis set (7s6p3d) gives results very close to the Hartree–Fock values; the remaining differences are attributed to the absence of the f functions in the present basis sets. For Ne2, the interaction energy was calculated; the magnitude of the basis-set superposition error was found to be very small (less than 3 μEh at 2.8 a0 and less than 2 μEh at 5.0 a0). 相似文献

The synthesis and colloidal study of a new class of low molecular weight organogelators is reported. Racemic propargylic alcohols with perfluoroaryl and nonfluorinated aryl rings are capable of forming gels in alkane liquids and/or silicone oil. A full colloidal characterization of alkane gels prepared from (R/S)-1-pentafluorophenyl-3-phenylprop-2-yn-1-ol [(R/S)- 1] was conducted, including both structural [optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR)] and thermal stability [differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)] studies. A model of the organization of gelator molecules within gel fibers has been proposed primarily based on the correlation of diffraction data for the powder XRD pattern of a gel and a simulated powder pattern from a sublimed crystal of the gelator. Furthermore, structural requirements for propargylic alcohol gelators were investigated by subjecting derivatives with modified structures to gelation tests. An enantiomerically enriched sample [(R)- 1, 83% ee] fails to entrap the solvent under conditions where the racemate successfully forms a gel. The remaining racemic derivatives (with p-alkoxy or p-alkyl substituents on the nonfluorinated arene) form gels or partial gels in silicone oil and in some alkane preparations. 相似文献
