Synthèse du mèthyl-1 diformyl-2,3 pyrrole,de la méthyl-1 pyrrolo[2,3-d] pyridazine et de la méthyl-1 oxo-6 (6h)cycloheptatrieno[b] pyrrole

This communication describes the synthesis of l-methyl-2,3-diformylpyrrole. This new compound is used to prepare a new heterocycle, l-methylcyclohepta[b]pyrrol-6-one and thus allows a new synthesis of l-methylpyrrolo[2,3-d]pyridazine.     

Constitutive equations based on the transient network concept

A consitutive theory for polymetric liquids based on the transient network concept is developed, following Wiegel and Jongschaap. The Phan-Thien-Tanner equation is shown to follow from the general theory with two critical assumption, one of these is quasi-equilibrium of the internal structure, which preludes consistency of application in ”fast flows“. The Marrucci model can be made consistent with the general format with a small change in the kinetic equation that can be deduced from asymptotic behaviour and leaves the steady viscometric behavior unchanged. The simplest genaral formulation requires the linear viscoelastic spectrum and two parameters; the latter cannot be determined uniquely from steady viscometric flow data.     

Stability of low Reynolds number flow with viscous heating

Summary The stability of fully developed plane Couette flow and pipe flow with viscous heating is studied at low Reynolds number for a Newtonian liquid with a temperature-dependent viscosity. The solution is obtained by a direct integration method of the eigenfunction equations, with eigenvalues located in the complex plane by means of the argument principle of complex variable theory. An instability will occur in plane Couette flow, but outside the parameter range which will be encountered in practice. There is no comparable instability in pipe flow. It can be concluded that a thermal mechanism does not cause the low Reynolds number instabilities observed in polymer processing operations.

Zusammenfassung Für eine newtonsche Flüssigkeit mit temperaturabhängiger Viskosität wird die Stabilität der voll entwickelten ebenen Couette-Strömung und Rohrströmung bei niedrigen Reynolds-Zahlen untersucht. Die Lösung wird durch direkte Integration der Eigenwert-Gleichungen gewonnen, wobei das Argument-Prinzip der Funktionentheorie auf die in der komplexen Ebene gelegenen Eigenwerte angewandt wird. In der ebenen Couette-Strömung wird eine Instabilität gefunden, jedoch außerhalb des in der Praxis realisierten Parameter-Bereichs. In der Rohrströmung gibt es dagegen keine vergleichbare Instabilität. Man kommt zu dem Schluß, daß thermische Mechanismen nicht für die in Polymer-Verarbeitungsprozessen beobachteten bei niedrigen Reynolds-Zahlen auftretenden Instabilitäten verantwortlich gemacht werden können.

This article describes the synthesis of a new heterocycle, pyrido[2,3,f]phtalazine and three new diformylquinolincs.     

Converging flow of a viscoelastic liquid

Two-dimensional creeping sink flow of a Maxwell fluid is an accurate approximation to a bounded converging flow of contraction ratio at least 5 : 1 and covergence half-angles of up to 45°. In this range, a perturbation expansion in Weissenberg number can be used over most of the flow field in the range where stable processing can be carried out.     

Effect of a relaxation time spectrum on mechanics of polymer melt spinning

The mechanics of isothermal melt spinning are determined for a viscoelastic liquid with constant physical properties but with a spectrum of relaxation times. The relaxation time distribution leads to higher forces and more linear velocity profiles than would be obtained for a Maxwellian material of the same mean properties in shear. This result explains the observation of several earlier studies that relaxation times inferred with a Maxwell-type model from spinning experiments are larger than those measured rheogoniometrically.     

Synthèse des pyrido[2,3-d] el [3,2-d] -s-triazolo[3,4-f] pyrimidines el de (pyrazolyl-1')-4 pyrido[2,3-d] et [3,2-d] pyrimidines

The synthesis of two new heterocycles is described: pyrido-[2,3-d]-.s-triazolo[ 3,4-f] pyrimidine and pyrido[3,2-d]-.s-triayzolo-[3,4-f] pyrimidine. 4-[I'-Pyrazolyl]pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines and 4-[1′-pyrazoly1] pyrido[ 3,2-d] pyrimidine are obtained by the action of 4-hydrazinopyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine and 4-hydrazinopyrido-[3,2-d]pyrimidine with several β-diketones.
