Short peptides corresponding to two to four alpha-helical turns of proteins are not thermodynamically stable helices in water. Unstructured octapeptide Ac-His1-Ala2-Ala3-His4-His5-Glu6-Leu7-His8-NH(2) (1) reacts with two [Pd((15)NH(2)(CH(2))(2)(15)NH(2))(NO(3))(2)] in water to form a kinetically stable intermediate, [[Pden](2)[(1,4)(5,8)-peptide]](2), in which two 19-membered metallocyclic rings stabilize two peptide turns. Slow subsequent folding to a thermodynamically more stable two-turn alpha-helix drives the equilibrium to [[Pden](2)[(1,5)(4,8)-peptide]] (3), featuring two 22-membered rings. This transformation from unstructured peptide via turns to an alpha-helix suggests that metal clips might be useful probes for investigating peptide folding. 相似文献

The regioselective syntheses and structures are reported for two tris-macrocylic compounds, each possessing two antiparallel loops on a macrocyclic scaffold constrained by two oxazoles and two thiazoles. Many proteins exert their biological activities through small exposed surface regions called epitopes that are folded peptides of well‐defined three‐dimensional structures. Short synthetic peptide sequences corresponding to these bioactive protein surfaces do not form thermodynamically stable protein‐like structures in water. However, short peptides can be induced to fold into protein‐like bioactive conformations (strands, helices, turns) by cyclization, in conjunction with the use of other molecular constraints, that helps to fine‐tune three‐dimensional structure. Such constrained cyclic peptides can have protein‐like biological activities and potencies, enabling their uses as biological probes and leads to therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines. This Review highlights examples of cyclic peptides that mimic three‐dimensional structures of strand, turn or helical segments of peptides and proteins, and identifies some additional restraints incorporated into natural product cyclic peptides and synthetic macrocyclic peptidomimetics that refine peptide structure and confer biological properties. 相似文献

Deformations of the infiniteN limit of the ZamolodchikovW
N algebra are discussed. A recent one, due to Pope, Romans and Shen with non-zero central extensions for every conformal spin is shown to be formally renormalisable to one representable in Moyal bracket form. This paper is intended to clarify a misunderstanding concerningthe source singularity of the electric Green's tensor for aperfectly conducting semi-infinite cone of circular cross-section.Tai's series expansion of the Green's tensor is known to lacka singular term at the source region. Jones has reconstructedthe solution to this problem and has pointed out the differencebetween his result and that of Tai. The aim of our paper isto demonstrate that, although Jones's closed-form solution iscorrect, there is a mistake in his comparison with Tai's seriessolution. We conclude that one of the two additional singularterms that Jones claims as missing from Tai's formula must beomitted. Besides, we compare Jones's closed-form solution withSmyshlyaev's solution to the very same problem. We concludethat the magnetic field expressions given by Jones and Smyshlyaevcoincide, but a singular term is missing from Smyshlyaev's expressionfor the electric field. 相似文献

Infinite-dimensional Lie algebras are introduced, which are only partially graded, and are specified by indices lying on cyclotomic rings. They may be thought of as generalizations of the Onsager algebra, but unlike it, or its sl(n) generalizations, they are not subalgebras of the loop algebras associated with sl(n). In a particular interesting case associated with sl(3), their indices lie on the Eisenstein integer triangular lattice, and these algebras are expected to underlie vertex operator combinations in CFT, brane physics, and graphite monolayers. 相似文献
