Air oxidation of hydrazine was studied by using a group of kaolinites, halloysites, and substituent oxides as models for the tetrahedral and octahedral sheets. The rate was found to be linear with oxygen. The stoichiometry showed that oxygen was the primary oxidant and that dinitrogen was the only important nitrogen-containing product. The rates on kaolinites were strongly inhibited by water. Those on three-dimensional silica and gibbsite appeared not to be. That on a supposedly layered silica formed from a natural kaolinite by acid leaching showed transitional behavior--slowed relative to that expected from a second-order reaction relative to that on the gibbsite and silica but faster than those on the kaolinites. The most striking result of the reaction was the marked increase in the rate of reaction of a constant amount of hydrazine as the amount of clay was increased. The increase was apparent (in spite of the water inhibition at high conversions) over a 2 order of magnitude variation of the clay weight. The weight dependence was taken to indicate that the role of the clay is very important, that the number of reactive centers is very small, or that they may be deactivated over the course of the reaction. In contrast to the strong dependence on overall amount of clay, the variation of amounts of putative oxidizing centers, such as structural Fe(III), admixed TiO2 or Fe2O3, or O- centers, did not result in alteration of the rate commensurate with the degree of variation of the entity in question. Surface iron does play some role, however, as samples that were pretreated with a reducing agent were less active as catalysts than the parent material. These results were taken to indicate either that the various centers interact to such a degree that they cannot be considered independently or that the reaction might proceed by way of surface complexation, rather than single electron transfers.  相似文献

Herein, we report the meta-nitration of arenes bearing ortho/para directing group(s) using the iridium-catalyzed C−H borylation reaction followed by a newly developed copper(II)-catalyzed transformation of the crude aryl pinacol boronate esters into the corresponding nitroarenes in a one-pot fashion. This protocol allows the synthesis of meta-nitrated arenes that are tedious to prepare or require multistep synthesis using the existing methods. The reaction tolerates a wide array of ortho/para-directing groups, such as −F, −Cl, −Br, −CH3, −Et, −iPr −OCH3, and −OCF3. It also provides regioselective access to the nitro derivatives of π-electron-deficient heterocycles, such as pyridine and quinoline derivatives. The application of this method is demonstrated in the late-stage modification of complex molecules and also in the gram-scale preparation of an intermediate en route to the FDA-approved drug Nilotinib. Finally, we have shown that the nitro product obtained by this strategy can also be directly converted to the aniline or hindered amine through Baran's amination protocol.  相似文献

A two-dimensional steady-sate analysis of semi-infinite brittlecrack growth at a constant subcritical rate in an unboundedfully-coupled thermoelastic solid under mixed-mode thermomechanicalloading is made. The loading consists of normal and shear tractionsand heat fluxes applied as point sources (line loads in theout-of-plane direction). A related problem is solved exactly in an integral transformspace, and robust asymptotic forms used to reduce the originalproblem to a set of integral equations. The equations are partiallycoupled and exhibit operators of both Cauchy and Abel types, yet can be solved analytically. The temperature change field at a distance from the moving crackedge is then constructed, and its dominant term is found tobe controlled by the imposed heat fluxes. The role of this termis, indeed, enhanced if the heat fluxes serve to render thecrack as a net heat source/sink for the solid, as opposed tobeing a transmitter of heat across its plane. More generally, the influence of the thermoelastic coupling on this field, aswell as other functions, is found to increase with crack speed.  相似文献

Benzene-cis- and trans-1,2-dihydrodiols undergo acid-catalyzed dehydration at remarkably different rates: k(cis)/k(trans) = 4500. This is explained by formation of a β-hydroxycarbocation intermediate in different initial conformations, one of which is stabilized by hyperconjugation amplified by an aromatic no-bond resonance structure (HOC(6)H(6)(+) ? HOC(6)H(5) H(+)). MP2 calculations and an unfavorable effect of benzoannelation on benzenium ion stability, implied by pK(R) measurements of -2.3, -8.0, and -11.9 for benzenium, 1-naphthalenium, and 9-phenanthrenium ions, respectively, support the explanation.  相似文献

Cis- and trans-1,2-dihydrodiol isomers of benzene undergo acid-catalyzed dehydration to form phenol. In principle the isomeric substrates react through a common β-hydroxybenzenium (cyclohexadienyl) carbocation. Notwithstanding, the isomers show a large difference in reactivity, k(cis)/k(trans) = 4500. This difference is reduced to k(cis)/k(trans) = 440 and 50 for the 1,2-dihydrodiols of naphthalene and 9,10-dihydrodiols of phenanthrene, respectively, and to 6.9 for the dihydrodiols of the nonaromatic 7,8-double bond of acenaphthylene. Because the difference in stabilities of cis- and trans-dihydrodiols should be no more than 2-3-fold, these results imply a high cis stereoselectivity for nucleophilic trapping of a β-hydroxyarenium cation by water in the reverse of the carbocation-forming reaction. This is confirmed by studies of the 10-hydroxy-9-phenanthrenium ion generated from aqueous solvolyses of the trans-9,10-bromohydrin derivative of phenanthrene and the monotrichloroacetate ester of the phenanthrene cis-9,10-dihydrodiol. The cis stereoselectivity of forward and reverse reactions is explained by the formation (in the "forward" reaction) of different conformations of carbocation from cis- and trans-dihydrodiol reactants with respectively β-C-H and β-C-OH bonds in pseudoaxial positions with respect to the charge center of the carbocation optimal for hyperconjugation. Formation of different conformations is constrained by departure of the (protonated) OH leaving group from a pseudoaxial position. The difference in stability of the carbocations is suggested to stem (a) from the greater hyperconjugative ability of a C-H than a C-OH bond and (b) from enhanced conjugation arising from the stabilizing influence of an aromatic ring in the no-bond resonance structures representing the hyperconjugation (C(6)H(6)OH(+) ? C(6)H(5)OH H(+)). This is consistent with an earlier suggestion by Mulliken and a demonstration by Schleyer that the benzenium ion is subject to hyperconjugative aromatic stabilization. It is proposed that, in analogy with the terms homoconjugation and homoaromaticity, arenium ions should be considered as "hyperaromatic".  相似文献
