Samples of head-to-head polypropylene have been prepared by the hydrogenation of two polydienes; 1,4-poly(2,4-hexadiene) and 1,4-poly(2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene). Glass transition temperatures were found to be marginally lower than for conventional polypropylene suggesting that the head-to-head placements in the chain increased the polymer flexibility. 相似文献

Operational instability from processes occurring at the anode during the production of aluminum in the commercial Hall‐Héroult process may lead to an increase in undesirable fluorocarbon emissions, higher energy use, and shorter plant life. One contribution to this instability may be the possible formation of a fluorocarbon film at the electrode interface. Here, the surface composition of graphite anodes after electrolysis in molten NaF–AlF3–CaF2 at 990 °C is investigated for evidence of fluorocarbon formation using C K‐edge near edge X‐ray absorption fine structure. Fluorocarbon is identified on an anode surface after prolonged anode effect (very high overpotential with increased cell resistance) and also on an anode surface after normal electrolysis without anode effect. This provides evidence that fluorocarbon formation may occur prior to anode effect lowering the surface tension of the anode and therefore resulting in dewetting to contribute to the onset of the anode effect. Confirmation that such compounds form furthers our understanding of electrochemical reactions of graphite with fluoride and of the fundamental processes that occur in an aluminum smelter cell. A series of acrylate monomers with alkoxy tails of varying lengths are synthesised and polymerised. The butoxy analogue had a stable enantiotropic cholesteric liquid crystalline phase which formed a grandjean texture when prepared as a thin film between glass slides. The polymer was mixed with a low molar mass nematic liquid crystal in various proportions and the pitch of the chiral nematic phases were determined using a cano‐wedge cell technique. The polymer prepared from (S)‐2‐(4‐butoxyphenyl‐4′‐benzoyloxy)‐1‐methyl ethyl acrylate had a pitch length of 113 nm which indicates that the polymer film could be employed in optical devices requiring selective reflection of light with short wavelengths in the region of 170 nm. The reaction of 1 equiv of primary silanes, SiH(3)R (R = Ph, Mes), with [RhIr(CO)(3)(dppm)(2)] yields mono(silylene)-bridged complexes of the type [RhIr(H)(2)(CO)(2)(μ-SiHR)(dppm)(2)] (R = Ph or Mes), while for R = Ph the addition of 2 equiv yields the bis(silylene)-bridged complexes, [RhIr(CO)(2)(μ-SiHPh)(2)(dppm)(2)]. The kinetic isomer of this bis(silylene)-bridged product has the phenyl substituent axial on one silylene unit and equatorial on the other, and in the presence of excess silane this rearranges to the thermodynamically preferred "axial-axial" isomer, in which the phenyl substituents on each bridging silylene unit are axial and parallel to one another. The reaction of 1 equiv of diphenylsilane with [RhIr(CO)(3)(dppm)(2)] produces the mono(silylene)-bridged product, [RhIr(H)(2)(CO)(2)(μ-SiPh(2))(dppm)(2)], and the subsequent addition of silane in the presence of CO yields the silyl/silylene product [RhIr(H)(SiPh(2)H)(CO)(3)(κ(1)-dppm)(μ-SiPh(2))(dppm)]. The reaction of [RhIr(CO)(3)(dppm)(2)] with 2 equiv of SiH(2)Me(2) yields the analogous product [RhIr(H)(SiMe(2)H)(CO)(3)(κ(1)-dppm)(μ-SiMe(2))(dppm)]. Low-temperature NMR spectroscopic observation of some key intermediates, such as [RhIr(H)(SiH(2)Ph)(CO)(2)(μ-CO)(dppm)(2)], formed during the formation of the mono(silylene)-bridged species provides evidence for a mechanism involving initial Si-H bond activation at Rh, followed by the subsequent Si-H bond activation at Ir. The Si-H bond activation of a second equivalent of silane seems to be initiated by dissociation of the Rh-bound end of one diphosphine. The reaction of diphenylsilane with the cationic complex [RhIr(CH(3))(CO)(2)(dppm)(2)][CF(3)SO(3)] gives rise to a different reactivity pattern in which Si-H bond activation is initiated at Ir. In this case, the cationic silyl-bridged species, [RhIr(CH(3))(CO)(2)(κ(1):η(2)-SiHPh(2))(dppm)(2)][CF(3)SO(3)], contains an agostic Si-H interaction with Rh. In solution, at ambient temperature, this complex converts to two species, [RhIr(H)(COCH(3))(CO)(μ-H)(μ-SiPh(2))(dppm)(2)][CF(3)SO(3)] and [RhIr(CO)(2)(μ-H)(μ-SiPh(2))(dppm)(2)] [CF(3)SO(3)], formed by the competing methyl migration to CO and reductive elimination of methane, respectively. In the diphenylsilylene dihydride product, a weak interaction between the bridging silicon and the terminal Ir-bound hydride is proposed on the basis of NMR evidence. 相似文献

A series of mono- and binuclear rhodium(I) complexes bearing ortho-phosphinoanilido and ortho-phosphinoaniline ligands has been synthesized. Reactions of the protic monophosphinoanilines, Ph(2)PAr or PhPAr(2) (Ar = o-C(6)H(4)NHMe), with 0.5 equiv of [Rh(μ-OMe)(COD)](2) result in the formation of the neutral amido complexes, [Rh(COD)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))] or [Rh(COD)(P,N-PhP(Ar(-))Ar)] (Ar(-) = o-C(6)H(4)NMe(-)), respectively, through stoichiometrically controlled deprotonation of an amine by the internal methoxide ion. Similarly, the binuclear complex, [Rh(2)(COD)(2)(μ-P,N,P',N'-mapm(2-))] (mapm(2-) = Ar(Ar(-))PCH(2)P(Ar(-))Ar), can be prepared by reaction of the protic diphosphinoaniline, mapm (Ar(2)PCH(2)PAr(2)), with 1 equiv of [Rh(μ-OMe)(COD)](2). An analogous series of hemilabile phosphine-amine compounds can be generated by reactions of monophosphinoanilines, Ph(2)PAr' or PhPAr'(2) (Ar' = o-C(6)H(4)NMe(2)), with 1 equiv of [Rh(NBD)(2)][BF(4)] to generate [Rh(NBD)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr')][BF(4)] or [Rh(NBD)(P,N-PhPAr'(2))][BF(4)], respectively, or by reactions of diphosphinoanilines, mapm or dmapm (Ar'(2)PCH(2)PAr'(2)), with 2 equiv of the rhodium precursor to generate [Rh(2)(NBD)(2)(μ-P,N,P',N'-mapm)][BF(4)](2) or [Rh(2)(NBD)(2)(μ-P,N,P',N'-dmapm)][BF(4)](2), respectively. Displacement of the diolefin from [Rh(COD)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))] by 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe) yields [Rh(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))] which, while unreactive to H(2), reacts readily and irreversibly with oxygen to form the peroxo complex, [RhO(2)(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))], and with iodomethane to yield [RhI(CH(3))(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))]. Hemilabile phosphine-amine compounds can also be prepared by reactions of [Rh(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr(-))] with Me(3)OBF(4) or HBF(4)·Et(2)O, resulting in (thermodynamic) additions at nitrogen to form [Rh(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr')][BF(4)] or [Rh(P,P'-dppe)(P,N-Ph(2)PAr)][BF(4)], respectively. The nonlabile phosphine-amido and hemilabile phosphine-amine complexes were tested as catalysts for the silylation of styrene. The amido species do not require the use of solvents in reaction media, can be easily removed from product mixtures by protonation, and appear to be more active than their hemilabile, cationic congeners. Reactions catalyzed by either amido or amine complexes favor dehydrogenative silylation in the presence of excess olefin, showing modest selectivities for a single vinylsilane product. The binuclear complexes, which were prepared in an effort to explore possible catalytic enhancements of reactivity due to metal-metal cooperativity, are in fact somewhat less active than mononuclear species, discounting this possibility. 相似文献

Herein, we report the first room temperature switchable Fe(iii) molecular spin crossover (SCO) tunnel junction. The junction is constructed from [FeIII(qsal-I)2]NTf2 (qsal-I = 4-iodo-2-[(8-quinolylimino)methyl]phenolate) molecules self-assembled on graphene surfaces with conductance switching of one order of magnitude associated with the high and low spin states of the SCO complex. Normalized conductance analysis of the current–voltage characteristics as a function of temperature reveals that charge transport across the SCO molecule is dominated by coherent tunnelling. Temperature-dependent X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory confirm the SCO complex retains its SCO functionality on the surface implying that van der Waals molecule—electrode interfaces provide a good trade-off between junction stability while retaining SCO switching capability.
