Conversion of N-aromatic amides to O-aromatic esters

[reaction: see text] N-Aromatic secondary amides can be transformed into O-aromatic esters in high yield via N-nitrosamide intermediates. The amides can be generated in situ from the corresponding aromatic amines or nitro compounds, and phenols can easily be made from the esters. The reaction can be modified by addition of methyl methacrylate or toluene at 0 degrees C to give polymerization or deamination, respectively. The rearrangement mechanism may involve radical formation and recombination.     

Quasinormal subgroups of order p 2

The location of quasinormal subgroups in a group is not particularly well known. Maximal ones always have to be normal, but little has been proved about the minimal ones. In finite groups, the difficulties arise in the p-groups. Here we prove that, for every odd prime p, a quasinormal subgroup of order p ² in a finite p-group G contains a quasinormal subgroup of G of order p. S. Totally Permutable Products of Finite Groups Satisfying SC or PST

Finite groups G=AB factorized by two subgroups A and B such that every subgroup of A permutes with every subgroup of B are studied in this paper. The behaviour of such products with respect to the class of finite groups in which Sylow-permutability is transitive is analyzed.
