We present first measurements of the phi-meson elliptic flow (v2(pT)) and high-statistics pT distributions for different centralities from radical sNN=200 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC. In minimum bias collisions the v2 of the phi meson is consistent with the trend observed for mesons. The ratio of the yields of the Omega to those of the phi as a function of transverse momentum is consistent with a model based on the recombination of thermal s quarks up to pT approximately 4 GeV/c, but disagrees at higher momenta. The nuclear modification factor (R CP) of phi follows the trend observed in the K S 0 mesons rather than in Lambda baryons, supporting baryon-meson scaling. These data are consistent with phi mesons in central Au+Au collisions being created via coalescence of thermalized s quarks and the formation of a hot and dense matter with partonic collectivity at RHIC. 相似文献

Measurements of the production of forward high-energy pi(0) mesons from transversely polarized proton collisions at sqrt[s]=200 GeV are reported. The cross section is generally consistent with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The analyzing power is small at x(F) below about 0.3, and becomes positive and large at higher x(F), similar to the trend in data at sqrt[s]< or =20 GeV. The analyzing power is in qualitative agreement with perturbative QCD model expectations. This is the first significant spin result seen for particles produced with p(T)>1 GeV/c at a polarized proton collider. 相似文献

Results on high transverse momentum charged particle emission with respect to the reaction plane are presented for Au + Au collisions at square root s(NN)=200 GeV. Two- and four-particle correlations results are presented as well as a comparison of azimuthal correlations in Au + Au collisions to those in p + p at the same energy. The elliptic anisotropy v(2) is found to reach its maximum at p(t) approximately 3 GeV/c, then decrease slowly and remain significant up to p(t) approximately 7-10 GeV/c. Stronger suppression is found in the back-to-back high-p(t) particle correlations for particles emitted out of plane compared to those emitted in plane. The centrality dependence of v(2) at intermediate p(t) is compared to simple models based on jet quenching. 相似文献

The stability of multiply charged sodium clusters Na(q+)(n) (q< or =10) produced in collisions between neutral clusters and multiply charged ions A(z+) ( z = 1 to 28) is experimentally investigated. Multiply charged clusters are formed within a large range of temperatures and fissilities. They are identified by means of a high-resolution reflectron-type time-of-flight mass spectrometer (m/deltam approximately 14 000). The maximum fissility of stable clusters is obtained for z = 28 and is X approximately 0.85+/-0.07, slightly below the Rayleigh limit (X = 1). A simple theoretical approach based on Coulomb-Volkov states is introduced to predict ionisation of atoms by intense laser
pulses in cases where the effective interaction time does not exceed one or two optical cycles [M. Nisoli et al., Opt. Lett. 22, 522 (1997)]. Under these conditions, the energy distributions of ejected electrons predicted by this non-perturbative approach
are in very good agreement with “exact" results obtained by a full numerical treatment. The agreement is all the better that
the principal quantum number of the initial state is high. For very strong fields, most electrons are ejected at an energy
which is close to the classical kinetic energy that would be transferred to free electrons by the electromagnetic field during
the pulse. The power of the present approach appears when keV. In this region, full numerical treatments become very lengthy and finally do not converge. However, the present Coulomb-Volkov
theory still makes reliable predictions in very short computer times.

We report on high single-pass gain in Yb:CaF2 crystal longitudinally pumped with a 40 W high-brightness fiber laser source based on an ytterbium-doped ultra-large core photonic crystal rod-type fiber operating at 976 nm. A single-pass small-signal gain of 3.2 has been achieved in a 6 % Yb-doped 10-mm-long CaF2 crystal at room temperature, outperforming any CW-diode-pumped scheme and paving the way towards very promising innovative lasers and amplifiers schemes merging the Yb-doped solid-state and fiber technologies. 相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of 68 fs secant hyperbolic pulses at a 105 MHz repetition rate with an average power of 520 mW from a diode-pumped Yb(3+):CaGdAlO(4) mode-locked laser. A semiconductor saturable absorber allows passive mode locking, and a 15 W diode laser is used to pump directly the crystal. To our knowledge this represents the highest average power ever obtained for a sub-100 fs diode-pumped Yb-bulk laser. 相似文献

Effects of wall-based skin-friction drag reduction strategies on the statistical properties of large-scale motions in moderate Reynolds number turbulent flows have been investigated by exploiting Direct Numerical Simulation of turbulent channels. To educe large scales, a new efficient parallel distributed memory algorithm has been implemented which delivers data-driven modes of increasing characteristic lengthscales: the Fast and Adaptive Bidimensional Empirical Mode Decomposition (FABEMD). The influence of wall-based skin friction reduction on large scales is studied by comparing single point statistics, such as r.m.s. fluctuations, and two-point statistics, as cross-correlation functions in controlled and uncontrolled channel flow fields at constant friction Reynolds number. The traditional way of observing large-scale footprinting at the wall, as cross-correlation of the streamwise velocity components at different wall distances, has been found to be unreliable when comparing drag-reduced flows, due to the arbitrary choice of a reference plane in the logarithmic layer. A more sound way of observing the footprinting via the correlation of the streamwise velocity with the friction velocity is addressed and shows an increase of the footprinting in drag-reduced flows.
