Temperature coefficients of activity of the ionic fraction of HCl in water, calculated from tensimetric and calorimetric data, are compared. Single crystal, silver particles of 215 +/- 10 nm size were synthesized in solution using the hydrogen reduction method and were characterized by UV-visible extinction spectroscopy and electron microscopy. The extinction spectra reveal the presence of higher order multipoles of the plasmon resonance, such as quadrupole, octupole, and hexadecapole, in addition to the dipole. The formation of higher order multipoles was continuously monitored during the particles growth. Mie extinction calculations were performed and are in good agreement with the measured extinction spectra. The frequency shift of all plasmon modes was measured as a function of the refractive index of the surrounding dielectric medium.  相似文献

Radiation effects leading to degradation and failures in the operation of electronic equipment on board a space ship are of increasing concern in connection with the constantly decreasing sizes and increasing density of modern onboard microelectronics elements. The propagation of the energetic heavy ions of galactic cosmic rays (GCR) through a multi-layer structure (an integrated-circuit prototype) is discussed in the paper. The amount of electron-hole pairs induced by an ion in the sensitive area of a transistor has been estimated with consideration for energy losses in the chip body as well as in the protective oxide layers, contacts, and metallized layers. Calculation of the energy of various particles initiating the generation of a charge potentially capable to induce a single failure of onboard electronics has been carried out. The existence of a spatial region from which heavy fragments of a nuclear reaction, with a kinetic energy sufficient enough to induce a charge above the critical one, can penetrate into the gate region of a transistor has been demonstrated.  相似文献

This work characterizes substrates for immunoassays obtained through the immobilization of vectorially oriented antibodies on glass. The method of preparation is based on the condensation reaction between an aldehyde group on the F(c) portion of antibodies and the hydrazide group on the modified glass surface. Light microscopy and AFM imaging in height and phase modes were used to assess the properties of the modified surface. Both techniques are consistent with a fairly uniform antibody coverage on the micrometer and submicrometer scales. ELISA tests were used to evaluate the activity and surface distribution of immobilized antibodies as well as nonspecific binding to surfaces after various modification steps. It was shown that exposure of the surfaces to a BSA solution minimized nonspecific binding to undetectable levels.  相似文献

The properties of phosphonium polyelectrolytes (PELs) were evaluated in an effort to assess the influence of both side chain and main chain composition. The influence of side chain was examined by comparing properties of a series of PELs having hydrophobic octyloxy side chains to those of structural analogues lacking the side chains. The influence exerted by backbone flexibility/length of spacer between charges was revealed by comparing properties of two series of polymers with a variable number of methylene units between phosphonium charge‐bearing sites. Side chain composition and spacing between phosphonium units lead to noteworthy influence on thermal stability, glass transition, and crystallinity. The molecular structure of PELs also correlates with trends in film morphology and critical surface energy of PEL dip‐cast films. Sensitivity of morphology to humidity or water in the casting solvent was observed. Supramolecular assembly of films via layer‐by‐layer deposition of PELs alternating with anionic polythiophene derivative layers was also undertaken. The linearity of film growth, amount of material deposited in each bilayer, polycation:polyanion ratio, and film roughness all show noteworthy trends that depend on both the presence/absence of side chains and on spacing between ionic centers. Iron(III)-doped titania nanoparticles were prepared by modified sol-gel method using titanium (IV) butoxide and inorganic precursor iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate. Spectroscopic measurements show the onset of the band-gap transition to be red-shifted (~λ = 475 nm) to the visible region with increasing iron(III) ion content. Characterizations were preformed by X-ray diffractometry, electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Photocatalysis experiments were performed with dye pollutant sulforhodamine-B in aqueous environment. Direct photocatalytic effect was observed in the dye degradation experiments when irradiated with visible light into the band gap of the iron(III)-doped titania.  相似文献

Carbon nanofibers of 1–2 nm height and micrometer length were synthesized via a hydrothermal conversion of cellulose nanocrystals at 240 °C. The fibers were characterized by atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. In the hypothesized mechanism, the self-assembly of cellulose nanocrystals prior to their carbonisation provides a template for the nanofiber formation.  相似文献

The structural stability and redox properties of yeast iso-1-cytochrome c and its mutant, F82H, were studied by surface-enhanced resonance Raman scattering (SERRS) spectroscopy. Phenylalanine, which exists at the position-82 in yeast iso-1-cytochrome c, is replaced by histidine in the mutant. The SERRS spectra of the proteins on the bare silver electrodes indicate that the mutant possesses a more stable global structure with regard to the adsorption-induced conformational alteration. The redox potential of the mutant negatively shifts by about 400 mV, relative to that of yeast iso-1-cytochrome c. This is ascribed to axial ligand switching and higher solvent accessibility of the heme iron in the mutant during the redox reactions.  相似文献

The excited-state intramolecular H-atom transfer reactions of hypocrellins B and A are compared by using time-resolved absorption and fluorescence upconversion techniques. The hypocrellin B photophysics are well described by a simple model involving one ground-state species and excited-state forward and reverse H-atom transfer with a nonfluorescent excited state. We suggest that excited-state conformational changes are coupled to the H-atom transfer in hypocrellin B just as gauche/anti changes are coupled to the H-atom transfer in hypocrellin A.  相似文献

This Minireview systematically examines optical properties of silver nanoparticles as a function of size. Extinction, scattering, and absorption cross-sections and distance dependence of the local electromagnetic field, as well as the quadrupolar coupling of 2D assemblies of such particles are experimentally measured for a wide range of particle sizes. Such measurements were possible because of the development of a novel synthetic method for the size-controlled synthesis of chemically clean, highly crystalline silver nanoparticles of narrow size distribution. The method and its unique advantages are compared to other methods for synthesis of metal nanoparticles. Synthesis and properties of nanocomposite materials using these and other nanoparticles are also described. Important highlights in the history of the field of metal nanoparticles as well as an examination of the basic principles of plasmon resonances are included.  相似文献
