Analysis of rotation curves in the framework of the gravitational suppression model

We present an analysis of suitable rotation curves (RCs) of eight galaxies, aimed at checking the consistency and universality of the gravitational suppression (GraS) hypothesis, a phenomenological model for a new interaction between dark matter and baryons. Motivated by the puzzle of the core versus cusp distribution of dark matter in the center of halos, this hypothesis claims to reconcile the predictions from N-body Lambda cold dark matter simulations with kinematic observations. The GraS model improves the kinematic fitting residuals, but the mass parameters are unphysical and put the theory in difficulty.     

Universal additive effect of temperature on the rheology of amorphous solids

Extensive measurements of macroscopic stress in a 2D Lennard-Jones glass, over a broad range of temperatures (T) and strain rates (γ), demonstrate a very significant decrease of the flowing stress with T, even much below the glass transition. A detailed analysis of the interplay between loading, thermal activation, and mechanical noise leads us to propose that over a broad (γ, T) region, the effect of temperature amounts to a mere lowering of the strains at which plastic events occur, while the athermal avalanche dynamics remains essentially unperturbed. Up to the vicinity of the glass transition, temperature is then shown to correct the athermal stress by a (negative) additive contribution which presents a universal form, thus bringing support to and extending an expression proposed by Johnson and Samwer [Phys. Rev. Lett. 95, 195501 (2005)].     

Representation theory of generalized deformed oscillator algebras

The representation theory of the generalized deformed oscillator algebras (GDOA's) is developed. GDOA's are generated by the four operators {1, a, a , N}. Their commutators and Hermiticity properties are those of the boson oscillator algebra, except for [a, a ] _q = G(N), where [a, b] _q = ab – q ba and G(N) is a Hermitian, analytic function. The unitary irreductible representations are obtained by means of a Casimir operator C and the semi-positive operator a a. They may belong to one out of four classes: bounded from below (BFB), bounded from above (BFA), finite-dimentional (FD), unbounded (UB). Some examples of these different types of unirreps are given.
