For thep-th cyclotomic fieldk, Iwasawa proved thatp does not divide the class number of its maximal real subfield if and only if the odd part of the group of local units coincides
with its subgroup generated by Jacobi sums related tok. We refine and give a quantitative version of this result for more general imaginary abelian fields. Our result is an analogy
of the famous result on “semi-local units modulo cyclotomic units”.

Electrides are materials in which alkali metals (Li through Cs) ionize to form bound alkali cations and "excess" electrons. The electrons reside in large cavities or channels or both in the host lattice. We report here the first synthesis of thermally stable inorganic electrides with cation-to-electron ratios of 1:1 as in organic electrides. Although alkali metal adducts to alumino-silicate zeolites are well known, the cation-to-electron ratio is generally 3:1 or greater because these zeolites contain alkali cations prior to incorporation of the alkali metal. In this work, two pure silica zeolites, ITQ-4and ITQ-7, with pore diameters of approximately 7 A, absorb up to 40 wt % cesium from the vapor phase (even at room temperature). The other alkali metals (except Li) can also be introduced at elevated temperatures. The optical and magnetic properties of the cesium-loaded samples suggest ionization to form Cs+ and e- with substantial electron-spin pairing. The metal-loaded samples are stable to at least 100 degrees C and are able to reduce small aromatic molecules such as benzene and naphthalene to the radical anions within the pores of the zeolite. 相似文献

Until now, there has been little work covering all of the main native adrenal-cortical steroids in blood. We therefore established a method for the simultaneous quantitative measurement of 14 native adrenal-cortical steroids, which involves capillary column gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC--MS). Serum steroids were purified from serum with the Extrelut mini-column and then converted into stable derivatives for GC-MS by a combination of boronic cyclization and trimethylsilyl and methyloxime derivatization. The sensitivities (with a signal-to-noise ratio greater than or equal to 7) of our GC-MS method ranged from 0.1 to 1.0 ng/ml of serum, and the coefficients of variation of intra- and inter-assays were less than 19% for each steroid. Our newly devised method involving a capillary column GC-MS system has been proven to be a simple and suitable method for a diagnosis requiring simultaneous detection of many native adrenal steroids in clinical practice. The alignment of nematic liquid crystalline (LC) molecules with respect to the LC cell surface was regulated between the homeotropic (H) state and the parallel (P) state by the photochromic trans—cis isomerization of surface-attached azobenzene (Az) moieties. By bringing the angular-selective photoreaction into the system, the orientational order in the P state was significantly improved to attain a universal orientational axis over the entire irradiated area, which was rotatable and erasable photochemically. Laser pulse experiments revealed that the allignment relaxation time τ was reduced from 1000 to 30 ms by increasing the pulse intensity from 10 to 20 mJ cm−2. Strong coupling between the LC and Az molecules was indicated. 相似文献

Photoreaction dynamics of 2-(3-benzoylphenyl)propionic acid (ketoprofen, KP), one of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, with histidine in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.4) was investigated with the laser flash photolysis. The deprotonated form of KP (KP(-)) was decarboxylated via UV laser excitation to form a carbanion. It was found that histidine accelerates the protonation reaction of the carbanion to 3-ethylbenzophenone ketyl biradical (3-EBPH) for the first time. The experimental results of the photoreaction of KP with alanine as well as the photoreaction of KP with 4-methylimidazole (a part of the side chain of histidine) in methanol, clearly showed that the protonated form of histidine is a key species for the protonation reaction of the carbanion. These series of the initial reactions should result in the occurrence of photosensitization in vivo. The reaction mechanism was discussed in detail. 相似文献

The inherent chromonic lyotropic liquid crystalline properties of a dye have been manipulated to fabricate multi-axial micropolarizing thin films by means of the photoalignment technique. The dye aqueous solution is deposited on a photopatterned polymer film to result in the macroscopic alignment of the dye molecules, followed by drying at ambient temperature. The solid polarizing dye layers thus produced exhibit very a high contrast ratio and degree of polarization in the region of visible light. Addition of a small amount of surfactant to the dye solution is a prerequisite for the generation of a nematic chromonic phase and for the formation of homogeneous thin dye layers on the polymer film. The correlation between the optical and surface morphological properties of the dye layers is discussed. 相似文献

The need for reliable surface analyses together with quality‐management requirements for analytical laboratories led the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to form its Technical Committee (TC) 201 on Surface Chemical Analysis in 1991. This article describes the organization of TC 201, the strategies that have been found useful for identifying and assessing possible projects for new international standards, and the 57 international standards and other documents prepared to date by TC 201. Standards have now been developed for Auger‐electron spectroscopy, glow‐discharge spectroscopy, various types of scanning probe microscopy, secondary‐ion mass spectrometry, sputter‐depth profiling, total‐reflection X‐ray fluorescence spectroscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X‐ray reflectometry. In addition, standards have been developed with definitions of terms used in surface chemical analysis; the handling, preparation of specimens for surface analysis; information and data‐transfer formats; and methods for determining the lateral resolution of beam‐based methods of surface analysis. Novel structural microspheres of the Janus type, with microphase‐separated polystyrene (PS) and poly(tert‐butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) shells and crosslinked poly(2‐vinyl pyridine) (PVP) cores, were synthesized with the crosslinking of PVP spherical domains in poly(styrene‐block‐2‐vinyl pyridine‐block‐tert‐butyl methacrylate) ABC triblock terpolymer film with PS/PBMA lamellae–PVP spherical structures. For the formation of lamellae‐sphere structures, toluene, which was a selective solvent for the ABC triblock terpolymer, was used. With the crosslinking of PVP spheres in the microphase‐separated film with 1,4‐diiodobutane gas, the microphase structure of the terpolymer was fixed, and microspheres composed of microphase‐separated PS and PBMA shells and P2VP cores were obtained. The size distribution of the purified microspheres was narrow. The characteristics of the microspheres and their aggregation behaviors in selective solvents were investigated by transmission electron microscopy and light scattering methods. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
