New derivatives of coumarin: 2-(N-R-imino)-2H-1-benzopyrans

Methods of synthesizing previously unknown derivatives of coumarin — 2-(N-R-imino)-2H-1-benzopyrans, where R = Alk, Ar — are proposed. Possibilities of alternative synthetic schemes are discussed, and hypotheses concerning probable mechanisms of the reactions are formulated.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 6, pp. 760–766, June, 1994. Modification of styrene-containing polymer with pinane. Possible applications of the product

The influence of high-temperature treatment on the properties of a styrene-containing polymer prepared from by-products of polybutadiene production was studied. The use of the products in production of emulsion rubbers and for protecting treatment of wood materials was examined. Original Russian Text S.S. Nikulin, O.N. Holographic screen to project a 3D image by the method of point-focused aspects

A holographic screen that makes it possible to display 3D images by the method of point-focused aspects (of a scene to be displayed) or by projecting narrow line holograms is suggested and implemented. The image thus formed reconstructs only horizontal parallax, which allows one to cut the body of information necessary for 3D imaging. Projection through the screen and a way of recording the screen are considered.

Summary.  Solubility isotherms in the CuBr₂−MBr−H₂O (M ⁺ = Li⁺, Na⁺, Cs⁺) systems at 298.15 K were measured. The results together with other available literature data for copper chloride and bromide systems were treated by hydration analysis, and comparative discussion of ionic processes taking place in the respective saturated solutions was performed. Ion-plasma technologies for the preparation and modification of nanosized LiF layers

The characteristics of LiF films containing Ag nanoparticles prepared via vacuum thermal deposition and magnetron sputtering, and then painted in microwave discharge plasma, are investigated. It is shown that simple and freely available ion-plasma technologies allow us to obtain nanosized LiF layers promising for use in photonics.     

On the numerical modeling of the dynamics of homogeneous isotropic turbulence

Using a series of mathematical models based on the closed Karman-Howarth equation, the numerical modeling of the dynamics of homogeneous isotropic turbulence was carried out. Computational results agree with known experimental data. Mathematical models are compared.     

On numerical modeling of local density perturbation dynamics in a pycnocline using moving grids

The plane unsteady problem on evolution of the local mixed fluid region in a pycnocline is considered. Results of computations using stationary (fixed) inhomogeneous and orthogonal moving grids are presented.
