Heavy ion irradiation in the electronic stopping power region induces macroscopic dimensional change in metallic glasses and introduces magnetic anisotropy in some magnetic materials. The present work is on the irradiation study of ferromagnetic metallic glasses, where both dimensional change and modification of magnetic anisotropy are expected. Magnetic anisotropy was measured using Mössbauer spectroscopy of virgin and irradiated Fe40Ni40B20 and Fe40Ni38Mo4B18 metallic glass ribbons. 90 MeV 127I beam was used for the irradiations. Irradiation doses were 5×1013 and 7.5×1013 ions/cm2. The relative intensity ratios D 23 of the second and third lines of the Mössbauer spectra were measured to determine the magnetic anisotropy. The virgin samples of both the materials display in-plane magnetic anisotropy, i.e., the spins are oriented parallel to the ribbon plane. Irradiation is found to cause reduction in magnetic anisotropy. Near-complete randomization of magnetic moments is observed at high irradiation doses. Correlation is found between the residual stresses introduced by ion irradiation and the change in magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

The thermal degradation of poly(vinylfluoride) (PVF) was studied under slow heating conditions to 1000°C with and without the presence of air. The degradation products, classified as low-boiling volatiles, high-boiling volatiles, and nonvolatile residues, were analyzed quantitatively by gas chromatography—mass spectrometry and several spectroscopic methods. Initial stages of degradation begin at 420°C with the evolution of HF and benzene and rapidly reach a maximum in sample weight loss by 450°C. One-third of this weight loss was in the form of hydrofluoric acid (HF) and at least 70 low-boiling volatile compounds that consisted of substituted aromatics, unsaturated hydrocarbons, and multiple-ring compounds, many of which contained a fluorine atom. The high-boiling volatile fraction contained compounds with more aliphatic but less aromatic character than the low-boiling. The nonvolatile residue retained 4% of the original fluorine content and exhibited strong unsaturated character. In the presence of oxygen HF, CO, and H2O were the major constituents of the low-boiling volatiles; the organic fraction was essentially unchanged in composition but reduced in overall concentration. The overall weight-loss process was bimodal in air and produced a thermally resistant residue that degraded by 650°C. A comparison of degradation products from poly(vinylchloride) with this work demonstrates that PVF forms more lower-molecular-weight, halogen-containing compounds, whereas the former produced more HCl and nonvolatile residue containing a lower halogen content.  相似文献

Intensive poultry production generates over 100,000 t of litter annually in West Virginia and 9×106 t nationwide. Current available technological alternatives based on thermophilic anaerobic digestion for residuals treatment are diverse. A modification of the typical continuous stirred tank reactor is a promising process being relatively stable and owing to its capability to manage considerable amounts of residuals at low operational cost. A 40-m3 pilot plant digester was used for performance evaluation considering energy input and methane production. Results suggest some changes to the pilot plant configuration are necessary to reduce power consumption although maximizing biodigester performance.  相似文献

In subnormal glow discharge under d.c. excitation at different pressure in a varying transverse magnetic field (0 to 30 G) some measurements have been carried out for various initial average tube currents. The voltage across the discharge increases and average tube current and residual current decreases in the magnetic field. With the help of Beckman’s expression [4] for the axial field and the electron density distribution in a transverse magnetic field the observed variation of current and voltage can be satisfactorily explained. The variation of axial electric field with transverse magnetic field can be represented to a fair degree of accuracy by the derived equation. The behaviour of residual current with magnetic field has been observed in these oscillations.  相似文献

Particle image velocimetry is used to study the motion of gas within a duct subject to the passage of a finite amplitude pressure wave. The wave is representative of the pressure waves found in the exhaust systems of internal combustion engines. Gas particles are accelerated from stationary to 150 m/s and then back to stationary in 8 ms. It is demonstrated that gas particles at the head of the wave travel at the same velocity across the duct cross section at a given point in time. Towards the tail of the wave viscous effects are plainly evident causing the flow profile to tend towards parabolic. However, the instantaneous mean particle velocity across the section is shown to match well with the velocity calculated from a corresponding measured pressure history using 1D gas dynamic theory. The measured pressure history at a point in the duct was acquired using a high speed pressure transducer of the type typically used for engine research in intake and exhaust systems. It is demonstrated that these are unable to follow the rapid changes in pressure accurately and that they are prone to resonate under certain circumstances.  相似文献

A forecasting procedure called adaptive filtering (AF) is reexamined. The theoretical foundations of the method have been questioned by several authors, and further difficulties are discussed here. In addition, the Box-Jenkins airline data are reanalysed and, contrary to the claims of Makridakis and Wheelwright, it is shown that AF does not compare favourably with other forecasting methods. In view of the theoretical and practical difficulties, the routine use of AF in business forecasting is not recommended.  相似文献

The results of an investigation of the parameters which have the most significant effect on the accuracy of mass measurements on a quadrupole orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer (q-oaToF) are reported. The influence of eight factors is investigated: ion abundances of reference and analyte compounds, mass difference between analyte and reference compounds, quality of calibration, number of reference acquisitions averaged and TDC (time-to-digital converter) settings (resolution, Np multiplier (number of pushes correction factor), minimum number of points, i.e. minimum acquisition width which defines a peak). To extract the maximum information from as few experiments as possible, a Design of Experiment approach was used. The data will be used as a basis for developing guidance on accurate mass measurement on q-oaToF instruments.  相似文献
