A coumarinylaldoxime as a specific sensor for Cu and its biological application

In this Letter we present a new probe, (E)-7-(diethylamino)-2-oxo-2H-chromene-3-carbaldehyde oxime (JB), which can detect Cu²⁺ ions in HEPES buffer under physiological conditions. Benesi–Hildebrand and Job plots demonstrate that the stoichiometry of the Cu²⁺ complex formed is 2:1. Possible interference with other analytes was examined, and the decrease of the fluorescence of JB at 510 nm when it reacts with Cu²⁺ was shown to be highly selective. This probe accumulates in the plasmalemma of human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations revealed that JB interacts with the lipid bilayer at the level of the glycerol moieties.     

Design and synthesis of a new coumarin-based ‘turn-on’ fluorescent probe selective for Cu

The novel coumarin-based ‘turn-on’ fluorescent probe (E)-3-(2,5-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)-7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-one (MGM) was designed, synthesized, and characterized. This compound shows high selectivity for Cu⁺², combined with a large fluorescence enhancement upon binding to Cu²⁺. Benesi-Hildebrand and Job plots demonstrate that the stoichiometry of the Cu²⁺ complex formed is 2:1. Preliminary studies employing epifluorescence microscopy demonstrated that Cu⁺² could be imaged in human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells treated with MGM.     

Cyclopeptide alkaloids of Zizyphus oenoplia

The known alkaloids zizyphine-A (1) and -B (2), abyssinine-A (4) and -B (5), and the previously undescribed zizyphine-C (3), -D (6) and -E (7) have been isolated from the stem bark of Zizyphus oenoplia. The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic methods applied to the alkaloids and to some of their transformation products, and by chemical degradation reactions.     

Synthesis,scope, <Superscript>1</Superscript>H and <Superscript>13</Superscript>C spectral assignments of isomeric dibenzofuran carboxaldehydes

Two isomeric dibenzofuran carboxaldehydes, namely 2-methoxydibenzo[b,d]furan-1-carbaldehyde (4) and 2-methoxydibenzo[b,d]furan-3-carbaldehyde (5), were synthesized. Formylation of 2-methoxydibenzo[b,d]furan (3) with α,α-dichloromethyl methyl ether and tin(IV) chloride gave a mixture of aldehydes 4 and 5 in 95 % yield and in a 35:65 ratio. Their ¹H and ¹³C NMR spectral signals were not sufficiently resolved in CDCl₃ solution to achieve their complete assignment, but this was possible in DMSO-d ₆ with the help of 2D-NMR techniques: NOESY for ¹H–¹H interactions and HSQC and HMQC experiments for ¹H–¹³C correlations. These aldehydes were used in the synthesis of novel β-phenylethylamines and NBOMe derivatives, which are undergoing biological evaluation.     

Fast ethylamine gas sensing based on intermolecular charge-transfer complexation

We have investigated the fast ethylamine gas sensing of 2-chloro-3,5-dinitrobenzotrifluoride(CDBF) loaded poly(acrylonitrile) nanofiber based on an intermolecular charge-transfer complexation.Reversible response and recovery were achieved using alternating gas exposure.This system shows a fast ethylamine gas sensing within 0.4 s.     

Hyperon production in pp collisions

We report on a study of the proton induced hyperon production reactions. We discuss the theoretical efforts made towards understanding the existing data and the uncertainties involved in the calculations. Our recent calculations of the missing mass spectra for the pp → K ⁺ Λp reaction which involve a proper coupled channel treatment of the final state Λp interaction are presented. Significant differences in the results using different models of the hyperon-nucleon interaction are found.
