The synthesis and characterization of novel first‐ and second‐generation true dendritic reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) agents carrying 6 or 12 pendant 3‐benzylsulfanylthiocarbonylsulfanylpropionic acid RAFT end groups with Z‐group architecture based on 1,1,1‐hydroxyphenyl ethane and trimethylolpropane cores are described in detail. The multifunctional dendritic RAFT agents have been used to prepare star polymers of poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA) and polystyrene (PS) of narrow polydispersities (1.4 < polydispersity index < 1.1 for PBA and 1.5 < polydispersity index < 1.3 for PS) via bulk free‐radical polymerization at 60 °C. The novel dendrimer‐based multifunctional RAFT agents effect an efficient living polymerization process, as evidenced by the linear evolution of the number‐average molecular weight (Mn) with the monomer–polymer conversion, yielding star polymers with molecular weights of up to Mn = 160,000 g mol?1 for PBA (based on a linear PBA calibration) and up to Mn = 70,000 g mol?1 for PS (based on a linear PS calibration). A structural change in the chemical nature of the dendritic core (i.e., 1,1,1‐hydroxyphenyl ethane vs trimethylolpropane) has no influence on the observed molecular weight distributions. The star‐shaped structure of the generated polymers has been confirmed through the cleavage of the pendant arms off the core of the star‐shaped polymeric materials. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We conducted relaxometric and water exchange studies of the cationic [Gd((S,S,S,S)-THP)(H2O)]3+ complex (THP 1,4,7,10-tetrakis(2-hydroxy-propyl)-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane). While the NMRD profiles obtained are typical for DOTA-like complexes (DOTA = 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane-1,4,7,10-tetraacetate), variable-temperature 7O NMR investigations revealed a relatively high water exchange rate (k(298)(ex) = 1.89 x 10(7) s(-1)). These results differ from those reported for other cationic tetraamide macrocyclic Gd(III) complexes, which exhibit characteristically low exchange rates. Since the low exchange rates are attributed partially to the geometry of the M isomer (square antiprismatic) in the tetraamide derivatives, the atypical water exchange rate observed in [Gd((S,S,S,S)-THP-(H2O)]3+ may result from a twisted square antiprismatic structure in this complex and from the relatively high steric strain at the water coordination site as a result of the presence of methyl groups at the alpha-position with respect to the Gd(III)-bound O atoms of THP.  相似文献

In this paper, square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV), synergistically coupled with an ultrasonically enhanced preconcentration step has been shown to yield a quantitative determination of lead and cadmium in human saliva at a membrane free in situ plated mercury thin film glassy carbon electrode. The sensitivity was facilitated by acoustic streaming which promoted efficient mass transport to the electrode thus reducing sampling times. Cavitation was responsible for cleaning and activating the electrode surface, this was essential in order to obtain a reproducible and representative signal. In silent conditions electrode fouling leading to fluctuations in the baseline current and signal depression, precluded accurate quantitative analyses. The results presented herein provide an extension to the proof of concept given in the authors' earlier work, with the analysis of lead in human saliva as opposed to artificial saliva reported. We also address the hitherto unreported detection and determination of cadmium in this medium. Results for both were independently verified by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS). Close agreement between lead concentration determined by sono-SWASV and independent and blind ICP-MS is reported for human saliva samples having a total lead content of 0.92 microg L(-1) and 5 microg L(-1) with a detection limit of 0.5 microg L(-1). Microaddition calibration data for cadmium additions of 0.0125 microg L(-1) to samples spiked with 2.5 microg L(-1) and 5.0 microg L(-1) (reflecting levels in workers occupationally exposed) exhibited close agreement with the known total cadmium in the samples. A detection limit of 1 microg L(-1) cadmium in saliva has been established.  相似文献

Arylation of 1-(methoxycarbonyl)-2,5-dihydropyrrole under standard Heck reaction conditions produces a mixture of compounds. The olefin undergoes two types of palladium-catalyzed reactions: (a) arylation to provide C-3 arylated derivatives and (b) competing double bond isomerization. Addition of silver carbonate and thallium acetate fully suppressed the isomerization, and good yields of C-3 substituted compounds were achieved after arylation with aryl halides. With regard to aryl triflates as arylating agents, addition of lithium chloride was necessary to promote the Heck reaction. This additive excluded the use of silver and thallium salts, but high regioselectivity and good yields could be obtained by employing tri-2-furylphosphine as ligand. Arylation was rendered both regioselective and enantioselective (58% ee) with 1-naphthyl triflate as substrate utilizing a (R)-BINAP/thallium acetate combination. The C-3 arylated enamides were converted further into the corresponding 3-arylpyrrolidines.  相似文献

This study deals with the application of two-dimensional proton nuclear magnetic resonance relaxometry (2D 1H NMR-R) to the characterization of porous ceramics nearly free of magnetic compounds. Different microstructural properties were obtained by firing a diamagnetic mixture of kaolin, calcium, and magnesium carbonate over a wide range of maximum temperatures (600–1100 °C) and firing times at the maximum temperature (soaking times) (0–10 h). The 2D 1H NMR-R method relies on the correlated measurement of 1H longitudinal (T 1) and transverse (T 2) relaxation times of pore-filling water by which the properties of the interconnected pore space may be investigated. In the absence of significant magnetic susceptibility effect due to para- and ferro-magnetic compounds, the 2D 1H NMR-R maps allow studying the conjoint effects on pore size distribution and inter-pore coupling due to the variations in both time and temperature of firing. The NMR experiments were performed with a low-field 1H NMR sensor, which allows non-destructive and in situ analysis. For ceramic specimens fired at 600 and 700 °C, the fraction of smallest pores increases with firing time at the expenses of those with intermediate size. The pore shrinkage occurring at this stage, and likely associated with the transformation of kaolinite in metakaolinite, is affected in a similar way by soaking time and firing temperature, in line with the concept of equivalent firing temperature. At temperatures from 800 to 1100 °C, the structural modifications involving interconnectivity and average pore size are driven primarily by firing temperature and, secondarily, by soaking time. The 2D 1H NMR-R results are confirmed by more traditional, but destructive, mineralogical, and structural analyses like X-ray powder diffraction, helium pycnometry, mercury intrusion porosimetry, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption method.  相似文献

An accurate crystal structure determination has provided evidence for a planar conformation for 3‐acetylamino‐5‐methyl‐1,2,4‐oxadiazole ( 5 ), in agreement with quantum‐mechanical calculations in the gas phase. In the crystal, a series of strong intermolecular N7H7….O9 hydrogen bonds link the amido groups of different molecules, causing the formation of infinite parallel ordered chains. The effect of the DMSO solvent on the energy and charge distribution of compound 5 and on its relevant 5 ? anion, involved in a fully degenerate rearrangement (FDR), has been deepened by quantum‐mechanical DFT calculations. The calculated energy barrier for the FDR increases in going from in vacuo to DMSO, in agreement with previsions based on the Hughes and Ingold rules concerning the nucleophilic substitution of an anionic reagent (the deprotonated amido group in the side chain) on a neutral substrate (the 1,2,4‐oxadiazole ring). A transgenic mouse overexpressing the human form of semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) is known to have an abnormal structure of the elastic laminae and the elastic fibres in the aorta. Compared to the non-transgenic littermates, the elastic laminae are less folded. In order to quantify the undulation of this structure, an image analysis program that identified the elastic laminae was developed. The program measures the area fraction in different sectors from a plane parallel to the aorta wall. Images were taken from unstained aorta specimens where the elastic laminae were visualised with phase contrast microscopy. A contextual operation of the images produced a local orientation estimation for every linear structure. The image was then thresholded in eight sectors from 0 degrees to 180 degrees , with different orientation angles. The results show that the area fraction of the elastic laminae was significantly lower for the transgenic mouse in all sectors measured except for two. At 0-25 degrees , no difference was seen. In the sector at 160-180 degrees , parallel to the aorta wall, the area fraction of elastic laminae was instead significantly higher in the transgenic mouse. A novel method is presented, developed for detection and quantification of pathological changes in the elastic laminae in the aorta wall. The method gave reliable results and is considered to be a useful tool for morphometric studies of aorta with this kind of altered morphology concerning the elastic laminae. When compared with tangent count, the control group had a significantly larger mean curvature.  相似文献

The dielectric properties of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) ceramic thin films were characterized up to 50 GHz using coplanar waveguides (CPWs) and metal–insulator–metal (MIM) capacitors with top circular electrodes. The ZrO2 films were deposited using a chemical solution onto high-resistivity Si wafers and metal layers. The real part of the dielectric constant of approximately 22 and 26 was extracted at 50 GHz for CPW and MIM structures, respectively, and the loss tangent was approximately 0.09 at 50 GHz. CV and IV measurements were carried out to determine low-frequency and DC dielectric properties. The measurement results indicate that ZrO2 is a promising material to be used as a dielectric layer for radio-frequency (RF) microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) capacitive switches.  相似文献
