Exact Bosonic Solutions of the Truncated Skyrme Model

A model defined by half the Lagrangian （the highly nonlinear part） of the Skyrme model is investigated. Two classes of bosonic solutions are obtained. It is shown that, although the field configurations of these two classes are different, the energy densities for the two classes take the same form.     

Detection of highly oriented aggregation of L-glutamic acid-derived lipids in dilute organic solution

Aggregation structures in organic gels and xerogels formed from L-glutamic acid-derived lipids were investigated by scanning and transmission electron microscopies, X-ray analyses, and 1H NMR and IR spectroscopic methods. These analyses showed that the gels were produced through the formation of highly oriented aggregates based on a single layer and a remarkable development of their fibrous morphology. We also describe how the critical aggregation concentration can be observed at a concentration below the critical gel concentration by using a dye-complexation method with a cyanine dye, NK-77.     

Recent Aspect of Cyclodextrin-Based Drug Delivery System

The pharmaceutically useful cyclodextrins (CyDs) are classified into hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and ionic derivatives. These CyDs can serve as multi-functional drug carriers, through the formation of inclusion complex or the form of CyD/drug conjugate. In addition, the combined use of different CyDs and/or pharmaceutical excipients is capable of alleviating the undesirable properties of drug molecules, improving efficacy and reducing side effects. This contribution outlines the potential use of CyDs in the design and evaluation of CyD-based drug formulation, focusing on their ability to enhance the drug absorption across biological barriers, the ability to control the rate and time profiles of drug release, and the ability to deliver a drug to targeted site.
