The intermediate anion derived from the vicarious nucleophilic substitution (VNS) of hydrogen reacts with a series of alkyl halides to generate the corresponding alpha-alkylated conventional VNS product in a one-pot process. This one-pot VNS-alkylation reaction offers a convenient route to a range alpha-substituted nitrobenzyl phosphine oxides, sulfones, and esters via a three-component coupling reaction. Reactions of alpha-chloroethyl phenyl sulfone (14) and ethyl 2-chloropropionate (16) with nitrobenzene followed by subsequent addition of an alkylating agent give a series of sulfones and esters bearing an alpha-aryl quaternary center. The VNS-alkylation protocol has been applied to the synthesis of derivatives of Indoprofen from nitrobenzene using readily available inexpensive starting materials. Indoprofen itself was prepared using the conventional VNS reaction in four steps and 24% overall yield from nitrobenzene. 相似文献

Simulations of diffusion-limited cluster-cluster aggregation (DLCA) with no restructuring, full restructuring, and partial restructuring have been performed. The scattering patterns produced from these aggregates have been simulated using the Rayleigh-Gans-Debye approximation. Pure DLCA aggregates produced a scattering pattern with the slope of the fractal region being about -1.8. In contrast, the slope of the fractal region of the scattering pattern for fully restructured aggregates was about -2.1, indicating an increase in fractal dimension. Partial restructuring at large length scales produced an upward turn in the scattering pattern at low qr(o), while at high qr(o) the fractal section of the pure DLCA aggregate was retained. This last result was expected and is consistent with the results and postulations of several other workers. This simulation shows that the type of scattering pattern often obtained from orthokinetic or sheared aggregation can be produced by restructuring of aggregates at large length scales. Small-angle static light scattering has been used to probe the evolution of aggregate size and structure in the shear-induced aggregation of latex particles. The size of aggregates obtained from the particle-sizing instrument (Coulter LS230) was compared with the size of those obtained with another approach utilizing the Guinier equation on the scattering data. Comparison of the two methods for studying the effects of mixing on the evolution of the aggregate size with time revealed similar trends. The aggregate structures were quantified in terms of their fractal dimensions on the grounds of the validity of Rayleigh-Gans-Debye scattering theory for the fractal aggregates. Analysis of the scattering patterns of aggregates verified that restructuring of the aggregates occurred as the aggregates were exposed to certain shear environments, resulting in a scale-dependent structure that could not be quantified by a fractal dimension. The effect of restructuring on aggregate size was particularly noticeable when the aggregates were exposed to average shear rates of 40 to 80 s(-1), whereas no significant restructuring occurred at lower shear rates. At 100 s(-1), the fragmentation of aggregates appeared to be more significant than aggregate compac-tion. Copyright 2001 Academic Press. 相似文献

Gamma radiation of poly (lactide-co-glycolide) raw polymers and processed microspheres under vacuum and at 77 K results in the formation of a series of free radicals. The resulting powder electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum contains a distribution of several different radicals, depending on the annealing temperature, and is therefore difficult to interpret. By utilising the selectivity of the electron nuclear DOuble resonance (ENDOR) and associated ENDOR induced EPR (EIE) techniques, a more direct approach for the deconvolution of the EPR spectrum can be achieved. Using this approach, the radiolytically induced CH3 *CHC(O)R- chain scission radical was identified at 120 K by simulation of the EIE spectrum. At elevated temperatures (250 K), this radical decays considerably and the more stable radicals -O*CHC(O)-, CH3 *C(OR)C(O)- and CH3 *C(OH)C(O)- predominate. This work demonstrates the utility of the EIE approach to supplement and aid the interpretation of powder EPR spectra of radicals in a polymer matrix. 相似文献
