Synthesis and X-ray structures of new cycloalka[e]pyrano[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives: novel tacrine analogues

A new series of tacrine (9-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine) analogues consisting of a cycloalka[e]pyrano[2,3-b]pyridine linked to a quinolyl ring has been synthesized. These compounds were prepared from the appropriately substituted pyran derivative via a Friedländer reaction with selected cycloalkanones in high yields. Single crystal X-ray structures are reported for four compounds.     

Synthesis,X-ray structure and theoretical study of benzazole thioether and its zinc complex as corrosion inhibitors for steel in acidic medium

A ligand, 2-((benzo[d]thiazol-2-ylthio)methyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole, and its zinc complex have been synthesized. The structure of these compounds have been determined by spectroscopic techniques and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The corrosion inhibition study of these compounds for steel in 0.5 M H₂SO₄ medium has also been investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and EIS techniques. The quantum calculations were applied to investigate the relationship between the electronic properties and the corrosion inhibition efficiency of the two benzazoles derivatives. Surface analysis (XRF) indicated that the rust layer formed on the Cu-containing steels was enriched with Cu compounds. Polarization curves revealed that both inhibitors acted as a mixed-type inhibitor.     

Reaction of carbon disulfide with 2-bromoimidazolium salts. Novel bicyclic mesoionic thiazolo[3,2-a]imidazoles

A new class of thiazolo[3,2-a]imidazole derivatives is obtained in good yields, by reacting 1-methyl-2-bromoimidazolium salts bearing N⁺-CH₂COAr, N⁺-CH₂COMe, N⁺-CH₂COOMe, or N⁺-CH₂CN fragments, with carbon disulfide in the presence of Et₃N at room temperature. The mesoionic structures of these compounds are established by NMR spectroscopy and by single-crystal X-ray analysis.

1,3‐Dipolar cycloaddition of stabilized azomethine ylides to alkenyl quinolines: An efficient route to polyfunctionalized 3‐pyrrolidinylquinoline derivatives

Some new polysubstituted 3‐pyrrolidinylquinolinyl derivatives were prepared by 1,3 dipolar cycloadditions of an azomethine ylide, generated in situ from benzylideneimine of methylglycinate and triethylamine in the presence of LiBr, to quinolyl α,β‐unsaturated esters     

2-Halogeno-N-phenacylimidazolium salts and their reactions with active methylene species,arylamines and thiocyanate ions

This study describes the reactivity of 2-halogeno-N-phenacylimidazolium salts towards active methylene species, arylamines and thiocyanate ions. The 2-chloro-N-phenacylimidazolium salt undergoes unexpected reactions in the presence of active methylene species and a tertiary amine as the base. The reaction of 2-bromo-N-phenacylimidazolium salts with arylamines led to a mixture of the corresponding 2-(arylamino)-N-phenacylimidazolium salts and imidazolone. The reaction of 2-bromo-N-phenacylimidazolium bromide with KSCN led to the corresponding imidazole-2-thione. The crystal structures of five compounds are reported.     

The diastereoisomers 2‐[(S/R)‐2‐chloro‐3‐quinolyl]‐2‐[(R)‐1‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)ethylamino]acetonitrile at 100 K

In the structures of the two enantiopure diastereoisomers of the title compound, C₂₀H₁₈ClN₃O, which crystallize in different space groups, the molecules are very similar as far as bond distances and angles are concerned, but more substantial differences are observed in some torsion angles. The crystal structures of both molecules can be described as zigzag layers along the c axis. The packing is stabilized by hydrogen‐bond interactions of N—H...O, C—H...Cl and C—H...π types for 2‐[(R)‐2‐chloro‐3‐quinolyl]‐2‐[(R)‐1‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)ethylamino]acetonitrile, and of N—H...N, C—H...O and C—H...π types for 2‐[(S)‐2‐chloro‐3‐quinolyl]‐2‐[(R)‐1‐(4‐methoxyphenyl)ethylamino]acetonitrile, resulting in the formation of two‐ and three‐dimensional networks.     

Sequential MCR/Fisher indolization strategy for the construction of polycyclic carbazole derivatives

A one-pot method for the synthesis of novel polycyclic carbazole derivatives from readily available starting materials using a sequential multicomponent reaction/Fisher indolization strategy is described.
