Synthesis and X-Ray Crystal Structure Study of ]2-Methyl-4-(2-methylbenzoyl)-phenoxy] Acetic Acid Hydrazide

Benzophenone analog 3 has been synthesized and characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) method. The compound crystallizes in a monoclinic space group P2₁/c with cell parameters a = 7.701(8) Å, b = 7.151(5) Å, c= 28.323(3) Å, = 104.639(4)°, Z = 4. The structure exhibits intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonding of the type N–HO, C–HO, and N–HN. The molecules are interlinked through hydrogen bonds forming an infinite chain. This polymeric-like structure may play an important role in biological activity.     

A New Method for the Syntiiesis of 1-Aryl Phthalazines

A simple versatile method for the conversion of 1 -aroyl-2-(substituted benzylidene)-hydrazines to 1-aryl-phthalazines using polyphosphate ester (PPE) is described.     

Gold,silver, and palladium nanoparticle/nano-agglomerate generation,collection, and characterization

Generation, collection, and characterization of gold, silver, and palladium nanoparticles and nano-agglomerates (collectively “nanoparticles”) have been explored. The nanoparticles were generated with a spark aerosol generator (Palas GFG-1000). They were collected using a deposition cell under diffusion and thermophoresis. The shapes and sizes of the deposited particles were measured using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM images showed that the particles were in the range of 8–100 nm in diameter, and their shapes varied from nearly spherical to highly non-spherical. Thermophoresis enhanced the deposition of nanoparticles (over the diffusive or the isothermal deposition) in all cases. Further, the size distributions of the nanoparticles generated in the gas phase (aerosol) were measured using a scanning mobility particle sizer (SMPS 3080, TSI) spectrometer. The SMPS results show that an increase in the spark frequency of the generator shifted the size distributions of the nanoparticles to larger diameters, and the total particle mass production rate increased linearly with increase in the spark frequency. The computational fluid dynamics code Fluent (Ansys) was used to model the flow in the deposition cell, and the computed results conform to the observations.     

Transition Metal Free Chemoselective Reduction of α,β‐Unsaturated Ketones to Saturated Ketones Using Tosyl Hydrazide as a Hydrogen Donor

An efficient, inexpensive and simple method for the reduction of various α,β‐unsaturated ketones to corresponding saturated ketones using tosyl hydrazide as a hydrogen donor in DMF using calcium oxide powder has been reported. A variety of enones underwent reduction without forming undesirable side products. High chemoselectivity, broad functional group tolerance and good yields are the noteworthy features of this protocol.

An efficient chemo‐ and stereoselective synthesis of enaminones and enaminoesters using (bromodimethyl)sulfonium bromide under solvent‐free conditions

Mild and practical stereoselective synthesis of (Z)- and (E)-allyl bromides from Baylis-Hillman adducts using Appel agents (PPh3/CBr4): a facile synthesis of semiplenamides C and E

Appel agents (PPh₃/CBr₄) have been utilized for high-yielding stereoselective synthesis of (Z)- and (E)-allyl bromides from Baylis-Hillman adducts at room temperature. The method has been applied for the synthesis of naturally occurring bioactive fatty acid amides, semiplenamides C and E.     

One pot synthesis of novel dispiro[oxindole‐thiazolidinedione/thioxo‐thiazolidinone/dihydro pyrazolone]‐pyrrolidines via 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition reaction of azomethine ylides

A series of novel dispiro[oxindole‐thiazolidinedione]pyrrolidine, dispiro[oxindole‐thioxothiazolidinone]‐pyrrolidine, dispiro[oxindole‐dihydro‐pyrazolone]pyrrolidine were synthesized by both regio‐ and stereo‐selective 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition reaction of azomethine ylide generated from amino acid and amino acid ester with π‐deficient alkenes in a single pot protocol in good yield. X‐ ray crystallographic studies established orthogonal disposition between spiro‐oxindole and spiro‐thiazolidinedione rings in 4a and 5a .
