An investigation of the component composition of the essential oil of Monarda fistulosa

The composition of the essential oil of wild bergamot bee balm introduced into the Krasnodarsk Krai has been analyzed by chromatomass spectrometry. The essential oil contains 34 components of which the main ones are -pinene (3.5%), -pinene (2.9%), -terpinene (1.7%), p-cymene (32.5), an aliphatic aldehyde (6.3%), sabinene hydrate (1.9%), -caryophyllene (1.1%), the methyl ether of carvacrol (5.5%), citronellyl acetate (1.6%), thymol (12.6%), and carvacrol (24.0%). The compounds were identified on the basis of their mass-spectrometric characteristics and arithmetical retention indices.A. N. Quantum chemical calculations of the molecular structure of diphenylguanidine and experimental studies of its tautomerism in solution

MNDO-PM3 and AM1 quantum chemical calculations of the molecular structure of N,N′-diphenyl-guanidine (DPG) prove that the molecule preferably exists as an asymmetric tautomer with a basic center C = N−. IR and UV spectral data, dipole moments, and average molecular weights of DPG solutions in nonpolar and low-polar solvents confirm the results of calculations, indicating formation of hydrogen-bonded cyclic self-associates of DPG in solution. Forces acting on a stationary sphere in power-law fluid flow near the wall

The analysis and evaluation of the forces acting on the particle in a linear shear flow of power-law fluid (PLF) in the presence of the wall were performed. Using the results of a series of computations for a model problem with a spherical particle near a flat wall in the Reynolds number range of 0?200 and the distance to the wall from 0 to 20 particle diameters, the correlation formulas for calculating the coefficients of drag force and lift force were obtained. Special attention was paid to the behavior of the forces acting on the particle approaching the wall.

Crystal structure of octapotassium octasulfatodiceriate pentahydrate

Single crystals without Co and Ni have been crystallized by the substitution method in the K₂Ni(SO₄)₂-Ce(SO₄)₂-H₂SO₄-H₂O system using K₂Co(SO₄)₂ · 6H₂O, K₂ (Co,Ni)(SO₄)₂ · 6H₂O, or K₂Ni(SO₄)₂ · 6H₂O as protocrystals. The structure of the single crystals obtained has been established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The crystal structure contains dimer complex anions [Ce₂(μ-SO₄)₂(SO₄)₆]⁸⁻, K⁺ cations, and crystallization water molecules.     

Numerical solution by LMMs of stiff delay differential systems modelling an immune response

Summary. We consider the application of linear multistep methods (LMMs) for the numerical solution of initial value problem for stiff delay differential equations (DDEs) with several constant delays, which are used in mathematical modelling of immune response. For the approximation of delayed variables the Nordsieck's interpolation technique, providing an interpolation procedure consistent with the underlying linear multistep formula, is used. An analysis of the convergence for a variable-stepsize and structure of the asymptotic expansion of global error for a fixed-stepsize is presented. Some absolute stability characteristics of the method are examined. Implementation details of the code DIFSUB-DDE, being a modification of the Gear's DIFSUB, are given. Finally, an efficiency of the code developed for solution of stiff DDEs over a wide range of tolerances is illustrated on biomedical application model.
