The solid lithium-ion electrolyte "Li(7)La(3)Zr(2)O(12)" (LLZO) with a garnet-type structure has been prepared in the cubic and tetragonal modification following conventional ceramic syntheses routes. Without aluminium doping tetragonal LLZO was obtained, which shows a two orders of magnitude lower room temperature conductivity than the cubic modification. Small concentrations of Al in the order of 1 wt% were sufficient to stabilize the cubic phase, which is known as a fast lithium-ion conductor. The structure and ion dynamics of Al-doped cubic LLZO were studied by impedance spectroscopy, dc conductivity measurements, (6)Li and (7)Li NMR, XRD, neutron powder diffraction, and TEM precession electron diffraction. From the results we conclude that aluminium is incorporated in the garnet lattice on the tetrahedral 24d Li site, thus stabilizing the cubic LLZO modification. Simulations based on diffraction data show that even at the low temperature of 4 K the Li ions are blurred over various crystallographic sites. This strong Li ion disorder in cubic Al-stabilized LLZO contributes to the high conductivity observed. The Li jump rates and the activation energy probed by NMR are in very good agreement with the transport parameters obtained from electrical conductivity measurements. The activation energy E(a) characterizing long-range ion transport in the Al-stabilized cubic LLZO amounts to 0.34 eV. Total electric conductivities determined by ac impedance and a four point dc technique also agree very well and range from 1 × 10(-4) Scm(-1) to 4 × 10(-4) Scm(-1) depending on the Al content of the samples. The room temperature conductivity of Al-free tetragonal LLZO is about two orders of magnitude lower (2 × 10(-6) Scm(-1), E(a) = 0.49 eV activation energy). The electronic partial conductivity of cubic LLZO was measured using the Hebb-Wagner polarization technique. The electronic transference number t(e-) is of the order of 10(-7). Thus, cubic LLZO is an almost exclusive lithium ion conductor at ambient temperature.  相似文献

The ionic and electronic charge transport was studied for single crystals of 9.5 mol% yttria-stabilized zirconia with additional nitrogen doping (YSZ:N) of up to 7.5 at.% (referred to the anion sublattice and formula unit Zr0.83Y0.17O1.91) as a function of temperature and nitrogen content. The total conductivity being almost equivalent to the oxygen ion conductivity has been measured by AC impedance spectroscopy under vacuum conditions in order to prevent re-oxidation and loss of nitrogen. The electronic conductivity has been determined by Hebb–Wagner polarization using ion-blocking Pt microelectrodes in N2 atmosphere. The ionic conductivity of YSZ:N decreases in the presence of nitrogen at intermediate temperatures up to 1000 °C. The mean activation energy of ionic conduction strongly increases with increasing nitrogen content, from 1.0 eV for nitrogen-free YSZ up to 1.9 eV for YSZ containing 7.3 at.% N. Compared to nitrogen-free YSZ, the electronic conductivity first decreases at nitrogen contents of 2.17 and 5.80 at.%, but then increases again for a sample with 7.53 at.%. At temperatures of 850 °C and above, the presence of the N3? dopant fixes the electrode potential and thus the oxygen partial pressure at the Pt electrode to very low values. This corresponds to a pinning of the Fermi level at a relatively high energy in the upper half of the band gap. At 7.53 at.% N and 950 °C, the oxygen partial pressure in YSZ:N corresponds to pO2 = 3 × 10? 18 bar. At temperatures above 850 °C, even in the presence of a very small oxygen concentration in the surrounding gas phase, the nitrogen ion dopant becomes highly mobile and thus diffuses to the surface where it is oxidized to gaseous N2. The results are discussed in terms of the ionic and electronic defect structures and the defect mobilities in YSZ:N.  相似文献

Ternary II–IV–N2 materials have been considered as a promising class of materials that combine photovoltaic performance with earth-abundance and low toxicity. When switching from binary III–V materials to ternary II–IV–N2 materials, further structural complexity is added to the system that may influence its optoelectronic properties. Herein, we present a systematic study of the reaction of Zn2GeO4 with NH3 that produces zinc germanium oxide nitrides, and ultimately approach stoichiometric ZnGeN2, using a combination of chemical analyses, X-ray powder diffraction and DFT calculations. Elucidating the reaction mechanism as being dominated by Zn and O extrusion at the later reaction stages, we give an insight into studying structure–property relationships in this emerging class of materials.

Combining chemical analyses with detailed structural work, we decipher the reaction pathway in the ammonolysis of Zn2GeO4 towards ZnGeN2.  相似文献

The possibility of fast nitrogen ion conduction in solids is reviewed. Promising electrolytes based on three different base compounds are in the focus of this contribution: Zirconium oxide nitrides, tantalum oxide nitrides and mayenite-based materials. All aspects ranging from preparation methods, crystal structures (ideal and defect structure, also at elevated temperatures), transport properties (ionic and electronic conductivity, transference numbers, diffusion) and correlations between structure and physical properties are presented and discussed, in part also in relation to theoretical calculations. Fluorite-type quaternary oxide nitrides of zirconium are proven to be the first known materials with high nitrogen ion mobility. They can be described as fast mixed oxygen/nitrogen conductors but are limited due to the low maximum nitrogen/oxygen ratio achievable. Corresponding phases based on stabilized tantalum oxide nitrides have a superior N/O ratio but show poor thermal stability. For the development of a pure nitrogen ion conductor a different approach has also been investigated: Some cage compounds, in particular mayenite, allow the substitution of oxygen anions not tightly bound in the framework by nitrogen ions. Some of the obtained N-containing phases exhibit an outstanding electrical conductivity at low temperatures. Possible devices and applications such as a new type of a nitrogen sensor and an ammonia-producing fuel cell are introduced and discussed.  相似文献
