Tritium concentration was monitored in different water sources collected around Kaiga Nuclear Power plant, India. The concentration was in the ranges?<?1.9–27.4 Bq L?1 (GM?=?4.0 Bq L?1) for groundwater,?<?1.9–42.1 Bq L?1 (GM?=?3.5 Bq L?1) for surface water and in 12.4–42.0 Bq L?1 (GM?=?24.07 Bq L?1) for reservoir water. The concentration values observed in this study are similar to those reported for other PHWR stations of the world. The radiation dose to the public due to ingestion of Tritium through groundwater was computed to be 0.08 μSvy?1.

A fast, mild, and functional group tolerant method for the direct synthesis of benzamides from aryl halides (Br, I) via aminocarbonylation, using solid Co2(CO)8 as a convenient CO source, has been demonstrated. The developed method is applicable to a wide variety of 1° and cyclic and acyclic 2° amines. Nitro substituted (o, m and p) aryl halides have easily been converted to the corresponding benzamides, without the reduction of the nitro group, in high yields using this in situ carbonylation methodology under microwave irradiation.  相似文献

The paper deals with the transfer factors (TF) generated for a few varieties of leafy vegetables (spinach, fenugreek, and amaranths) consumed by the locals around Tarapur atomic power station environment in India. The soil and leafy vegetable samples collected from the ambient environment of nuclear site were used for the determination of the TFs and they were compared with TFs generated from pot experiments under controlled conditions for 137Cs. The activity of 137Cs in soil and each vegetable was determined by gamma spectrometry using HPGe detector (35 and 160% relative efficiency) and was reported on dry weight basis for both ambient environment and pot samples. The radioactive effluent containing 137Cs (pH ~7) from nuclear power station was used to spike the soil for pot (size 90 cm × 45 cm × 42 cm) experiment. The TFs obtained for ambient environment and pot experiment were found to be in the range of 0.035–0.592 and 0.0054–0.29, respectively. It is observed that TFs of ambient environment are in good agreement with those obtained in the pot experiment conducted under controlled conditions. Further, the observed TF values at Tarapur nuclear site are comparable with the range of typical IAEA transfer factor values for general leafy vegetation (0.11–2.9) for tropical environment.  相似文献

The Environmental Survey Laboratory is responsible for the monitoring of radioactivity due to natural and artificially produced radionuclides in a variety of samples available around the nuclear facilities at Tarapur. Standard methods of radiochemical separation and counting are followed to determine -emitters in various matrices. To make the measurement simple and detect lower levels of contamination in some of the matrices, a method was developed to measure the high energy gross -activity primarily due to 90Y in borehole water and urine samples of occupational workers by Cerenkov counting in a liquid scintillation analyser. Cerenkov counting results of borehole samples were compared with the total gross -activity measured by a low background beta-counter. The combined measurements were used to evaluate 90Sr and 137Cs levels without chemical separation or gamma-spectrometry. Cerenkov counting technique was also utilised to evaluate 40K in drinking water and intercomparison water samples. The paper presents the methodology and results of a few measurements using the technique.  相似文献

A direct method for the synthesis of β-ketoesters from aryl halides (iodide, bromide) has been described by using cobalt carbonyl as carbon monoxide source in microwave irradiation. Using this protocol, a wide variety of substituted aryl halides has been successfully converted to corresponding β-ketoesters.  相似文献
