We report Raman measurements made on SO2 in a diamond cell up to 75 kbar showing two new phases, solid II and solid III, which differ from known, zero-pressure solid I. Spectra indicate that SO2 molecules aggregate in solid III to possibly form a cyclical trimer; solid III is shown to be photochemically active to blue radiation. 相似文献

The synthesis of hydantoins and dihydrouracils from ureidoacetamides has been carried out at high temperature in glycol solvents. A series of substrates were prepared and examined to determine the effect of substrate structure, N-acyl substitution (X), and solvent on the course of the reaction. A dramatic effect was observed when using ureidoacetamides (e.g., X=N-methyl-N-phenyl), which led to higher yields, faster reaction times, and lower racemization of chiral substrates. The rate of racemization of a chiral hydantoin in the presence of dibenzylamine and N-methyl aniline has also been determined. The thermal cyclization methodology has been applied to the preparation of a complex hydantoin. 相似文献

The effect of elastic end rings on the eigenfrequencies of thin cylindrical shells is studied by using an exact solution of the linear eigenvalue problem. The out-of-plane and torsional rigidities of the rings are responsible for the overall shell stiffness. Considerable mode interaction exists for modes with low circumferential wave numbers when the mass of the ring is comparable with that of the shell. The hypothetical simply supported and clamped boundary conditions are practically impossible to realize with a finite-mass ring for relatively short and thin shells. 相似文献

Multiresonance perfluorocarbon emulsions (Oxypherol and Fluosol-DA) were imaged in tumor-bearing mice using 19F spin-echo magnetic resonance imaging in vivo. Multiple thin-slice fluorine images free of chemical shift artifacts were obtained in 13 minutes and these were correlated with proton images obtained during the same experiment to delineate the anatomic distribution of perfluorocarbons. Sequential images were used to determine the time course of the distribution and the retention of the compounds in tumors and organs. 19F MR spectroscopy was used ex vivo to determine with high sensitivity the relative concentration of perfluorocarbons in different tissues and organs and to confirm the results obtained from imaging experiments. The fluorine images visually demonstrated the preferential localization of the perfluorocarbons in the liver and spleen; shortly after injection, the images also revealed the highly vascularized tumor-chest wall interface. Imaging and spectroscopy together showed that the perfluorocarbons were removed from the blood pool within hours and remained sequestered in tissues at later times; the highest concentrations were found in the spleen and liver, where the agents were retained without spectral changes for the duration of these studies. The perfluorocarbons accumulated within tumors at dose-dependent concentrations, one to two orders of magnitude smaller than those observed in the spleen and liver. 相似文献

A novel technique is proposed to facilitate the selective imaging of specific molecules from a mixture. The application of the technique presented here demonstrates the ability to selectively produce 19F MR images of either trifluoroacetic acid or the perfluorocarbon emulsion Oxypherol-ET (perfluorotributylamine), when both molecules are present simultaneously. Selective detection is based on the presence of homonuclear J-modulation in one molecule and differential spin-spin relaxation time (T2). Perfluorotributylamine, an A3B2 system, is subject to homonuclear J-modulation, which produces a null signal from the antiphase components of the triplet (A3) when an echo time
is used in a spin-echo image. At this echo time the second molecule, in this example trifluoroacetic acid, a non-coupled spin system, is selectively imaged. At longer echo times, e.g., TE = 1/J there is substantial recovery of the J-modulated signal, which may be solely observed due to T2 decay of the trifluoroacetic acid signal. We describe methods which can be used to search for pair-produced charged Higgs bosons in e+e? collisions. These methods use a jet identification procedure previously developed by the authors. The results of tests on simulated data are presented. We include a study of effects of QCD backgrounds and a crude estimation of the effects of experimental errors. 相似文献

We review the definition of pierce numbers, which are a generalization of the concept of thrust. These quantities provide a useful way to characterize the jet structure of high energy events. Geometrical and topological problems encountered in calculating the pierce numbers of an event are discussed. The degree of hierarchy in the jet structure influences both the calculational problems and the physics results. We have previously developed, and used in a number of simulation studies, a computer program which calculates approximate values of the pierce numbers. We describe here a modification of this program which is slower in operation but more accurate. Values of thrust, as obtained using these programs, are compared with the exact value and with other approximations. The influence of the approximations on the invariant masses of jet combinations is also examined. 相似文献
