Summary Reasonable surface energies and very accurate surface dipole barrier and work function for a semi-infinite jellium are calculated from a simple model of the density. The model was proposed by Smith and contains one universal parameter. In the Kohn-Sham energy functional, the kinetic energy is approximated by its simple gradient expansion including a fourth-order term. The exchange and correlation are treated within the local-density approximation. Using the simple gradient, the energy is minimized with respect to the universal parameter of the density. The parameter which minimizes the energy is used to calculate the surface dipole barrier and the work function. A comparison was made with the Lang and Kohn results and with the Ma and Sahni results.  相似文献

The structural, optical and electrical properties of 60 MeV C5+ ion-irradiated poly(3-methylthiophene) (P3MT) synthesized by the chemical oxidation polymerization method have been studied. The P3MT powder was dissolved in chloroform (CHCl3), and thin films of thickness 2 μm were prepared on glass and Si substrates. The polymerization was confirmed by the FTIR spectrum. Then films were irradiated by 60 MeV C5+ ions at different fluences. FTIR spectra show methyl group evolution after irradiation. The optical band gap decreases slightly after irradiation and the DC conductivity increases by about one order of magnitude after irradiation at the highest fluence. The role of S e has also been discussed when compared with 60 MeV Si5+ ion irradiation of P3MT. The morphological changes are observed using SEM.  相似文献

Structural elucidation and gas‐phase fragmentation of ten withanolides (steroidal lactones) were studied using a positive ion electrospray ionization quadropole time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (ESI‐QqTOF‐MS/MS) hybrid instrument. Withanolides form an important class of plant secondary metabolites, known to possess a variety of biological activities. Withanolides which possess hydroxyl groups at C‐4, C‐5, C‐17, C‐20, and C‐27, and an epoxy group at C‐5/C‐6, were evaluated to determine the characteristic fragments and their possible pathways. ESI‐QqTOF‐MS (positive ion mode) showed the presence of the protonated molecules [M + H]+. Low‐energy collision‐induced dissociation tandem mass spectrometric (CID‐MS/MS) analysis of the protonated molecule [M + H]+ indicated multiple losses of water and the removal of the C‐17‐substituted lactone moiety affording the [M + H–Lac]+ product ion as the predominant pathways. However, withanolides containing a hydroxyl group at C‐24 of the lactone moiety showed a different fragmentation pathway, which include the loss of steroidal part as a neutral molecule, with highly diagnostic ions at m/z 95 and 67 being generated from the cleavage of lactone moiety. Our results also determined the influence of the presence and positions of hydroxyl and epoxy groups on product ion formation and stability. Moreover, the knowledge of the fragmentation pattern was utilized in rapid identification of withanolides by the LC/MS/MS analysis of a Withania somnifera extract. The Rutherford backscattering technique was used to characterize the purposedly added cesium impurities in soda-lime glass. The impurities were introduced into the glass matrix by an ion-exchange diffusion process at room temperature. The diffusion coefficient of cesium was determined from the measured depth profiles. The diffusion of the cesium impurities stimulated by 280 keV Kr+-ion beam irradiation was also studied. The depth distributions obtained are discussed using the model of radiation enhanced diffusion. Results are compared with theoretical values based on transport of ions in matter calculations and other experimental work.On sabbatical leave at Applied Science University, Physics Department, P. O. Two sets of indium oxide thin films (~150 nm) grown on quartz substrates using thermal evaporation technique were processed separately with 25‐keV Co? and N+ ions with several fluences ranging from 1.0 × 1015 to 1.0 × 1016 ions/cm2. The pristine and the ion implanted films were characterized by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV–Vis spectrometry. The RBS spectra reveal signature of only cobalt and nitrogen in accordance to their fluences confirming absence of any contamination arising due to ion implantation. An increase in the average crystallite size (from 13.7 to 15.3 nm) of Co? ions implanted films was confirmed by XRD. On the other hand, the films implanted with N+ ions showed a decrease in the average crystallite size from 20.1 to 13.7 nm. The XRD results were further verified by SEM micrographs. As seen in AFM images, the RMS surface roughness of the samples processed by both ion beams was found to decrease a bit (29.4 to 22.2 nm in Co? implanted samples and 24.2 to 23.3 nm in N+ implanted samples) with increasing fluence. The Tauc's plot deduced from UV–visible spectroscopy showed that the band gap decreases from 3.54 to 3.27 eV in Co? implanted films and increases from 3.38 to 3.58 eV for films implanted with N+ ions. The experimental results suggest that the modifications in structural and optical properties of indium oxide films can be controlled by optimizing the implantation conditions. Physalis angulata L. belongs to the family Solanaceae and is distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions. Physalis angulata leaf and fruit extracts were assessed for in vitro anticancer, antioxidant activity, and total phenolic and flavonoid content. The GC-MS technique investigated the chemical composition and structure of bioactive chemicals reported in extracts. The anticancer activity results revealed a decrease in the percentage of anticancer cells’ viability in a concentration- and time-dependent way. We also noticed morphological alterations in the cells, which we believe are related to Physalis angulata extracts. Under light microscopy, we observed that as the concentration of ethanolic extract (fruit and leaves) treated HeLa cells increased, the number of cells began to decrease.  相似文献

Elastic scattering of 800 MeV/c pions by12C has been studied in the diffraction model with a view to determine pion optical potential by the method of inversion. Finding an earlier diffraction model analysis to be deficient in some respects, we propose a Glauber model based parametrization for the elasticS-matrix and show that it provides an exceedingly good fit to the pion-carbon data. The proposed elasticS-matrix gives a closed expression for the pion-12C optical potential by the method of inversion in the high energy approximation.  相似文献
