A method has been developed enabling direct analysis (i.e. after dilution only) of beer, instant coffee, milk, and milk powder by ICP–AES. Analysis of the beverages after dilution with a low concentration of HNO3 was used for accurate determination of essential minor and trace elements (Ca, Mg, K, P, S, and Zn). Selenium, introduced as the hydride, was determined simultaneously with the other non-hydride-forming elements using the commercial multi-mode sample-introduction system (MSIS). To obtain accurate results, however, some simple pre-treatment was needed. Analysis was also performed after microwave-assisted decomposition of the samples. Three different modes of sample-preparation, i.e. dilution only, partial decomposition (aqua regia treatment), and complete decomposition were compared. The results obtained by use of the three different sample-preparation methods were in very good agreement. Results from analysis of certified reference material (SRM 1459 non-fat milk powder) also verified the accuracy of the methods. The limit of detection obtained for Se using dual-mode sample introduction was 0.5 ng mL–1, which corresponds to approximately 2 ng g–1 in beer and approximately 4 ng g–1 in coffee and milk when using the recommended procedure.  相似文献

A simple and advantageous method for the determination of titanium using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry with slurry sampling has been developed. Titanium is one of the refractory elements that form thermally stable carbides in the graphite tube, which leads to severe memory effects. Trifluoromethane (Freon-23) was applied in the purge gas during the atomization step or alternatively just prior to the atomization to successfully eliminate the problems of carbide formation and increase the lifetime of the furnace tube which could be used for more than 600 heating cycles. A flow rate of 40 mL min–1 (5% of Freon in argon) was used to obtain symmetrical peaks with no tailing. However, when the gas flow rate was too high (250 mL min–1) the peak-tailing and memory effects reappeared. Ti was determined in various materials covering a wide range of concentrations, from 2.8 g g–1 to 12% (m/m) Ti. The accuracy of the method was confirmed by analyzing certified reference materials (CRMs) or by comparing the results with those obtained using inductively coupled plasma–atomic emission spectrometry (ICP–AES) after decomposition of the samples. The materials analyzed were soil, plant, human hair, coal, urban particulate matters, toothpaste, and powdered paint.  相似文献

We model a tiny heat engine as a Brownian particle that moves in a viscous medium in a sawtooth potential (with or without load) assisted by alternately placed hot and cold heat baths along its path. We find closed form expression for the steady-state current as a function of the model parameters. This enables us to deal with the energetics of the model and evaluate either its efficiency or its coefficient of performance depending upon whether the model functions either as a heat engine or as a refrigerator, respectively. We also study the way current changes with changes in parameters of interest. When we plot the phase diagrams showing the way the model operates, we not only find regions where it functions as a heat engine and as a refrigerator but we also identify a region where the model functions as neither of the two.  相似文献

Sample preparation and introduction techniques are very critical steps in gas chromatography analysis and particularly in the analysis of volatiles in solid samples. In these cases, they can be divided into two main categories: direct and indirect approaches, based on how the solid sample is treated, i.e. with and without dissolution (or extraction) of analytes from the solid sample. To enable routine application, coupling with sample preparation techniques (especially solid or solvent‐based microextractions) is needed to achieve automation. Here, an overview of the most common sample introduction techniques for gas chromatography with their advantages and drawbacks is presented and discussed, including references to relevant examples. We model a Brownian heat engine as a Brownian particle that hops in a periodic ratchet potential where the ratchet potential is coupled with a linearly decreasing background temperature. We show that the efficiency of such Brownian heat engine approaches the efficiency of endoreversible engine \(\eta =1-\sqrt{{T_{c}/T_{h}}}\) [23]. On the other hand, the maximum power efficiency of the engine approaches \(\eta ^{MAX}=1-({T_{c}/T_{h}})^{1\over 4}\). It is shown that the optimized efficiency always lies between the efficiency at quasistatic limit and the efficiency at maximum power while the efficiency at maximum power is always less than the optimized efficiency since the fast motion of the particle comes at the expense of the energy cost. If the heat exchange at the boundary of the heat baths is included, we show that such a Brownian heat engine has a higher performance when acting as a refrigerator than when operating as a device subjected to a piecewise constant temperature. The role of time on the performance of the motor is also explored via numerical simulations. Our numerical results depict that the time t and the external load dictate the direction of the particle velocity. Moreover, the performance of the heat engine improves with time. At large t (steady state), the velocity, the efficiency and the coefficient of performance of the refrigerator attain their maximum value. Furthermore, we study the effect of temperature by considering a viscous friction that decreases exponentially as the background temperature increases. Our result depicts that the Brownian particle exhibits a fast unidirectional motion when the viscous friction is temperature dependent than that of constant viscous friction. Moreover, the efficiency of this motor is considerably enhanced when the viscous friction is temperature dependent. On the hand, the motor exhibits a higher performance of the refrigerator when the viscous friction is taken to be constant.  相似文献

We present a microscopic analysis of shape transitions of micelles of model linear nonionic surfactants. In particular, symmetric H(4)T(4) and asymmetric H(3)T(6) surfactants have been chosen for the study. In a previous work, it has been observed that symmetric surfactants have a strong tendency to prefer spherical micelles over a wide range of chemical potentials, while asymmetric surfactants undergo shape transitions between a spherical micelle at low concentration to other forms, mainly finite cylindrical micelles. This study combines the application of a two-dimensional single-chain mean-field theory (SCMFT) with Monte Carlo (MC) simulations of exactly the same systems. On the one hand, the characteristics of the SCMFT make this method suitable for free energy calculations, especially for small surfactants, due to the incorporation of relevant microscopic details in the model. On the other hand, MC simulations permit us to obtain a complete picture of the statistical mechanical problem, for the purpose of validation of the mean-field calculations. Our results reveal that the spherical shape for the symmetric surfactant is stable over a large range of surfactant concentrations. However, the asymmetric surfactant undergoes a complex shape transition that we have followed by calculating the standard chemical potential as a function of the aggregation number. The results indicate that the system forms prolate spheroids prior to developing short capped cylinders that gradually grow in length, with some oscillations in the energy of formation. The most important result of our work is the evidence of a bifurcation where, together with the elongated objects, the system can develop oblate aggregates and finally a torus shape similar to a red blood cell.  相似文献

Summary.  Three bisdesmosidic saponins, 20-hydroxyecdysone, and quercetin-3-O-β-D-galactoside were isolated from the methanol extract of the aerial parts of Achyranthes aspera L. (Amaranthaceae). Their structures were established on the basis of NMR spectroscopic analysis; the complete 1H and 13C assignments of the compounds were achieved by means of 2D NMR studies. Received July 21, 1999. 1-x MnxS (where 0.05<x<1) were measured as the energy of the exciting radiation was tuned across the S and Mn-L2,3 absorption edges of these compounds. Strong resonance peaks in Mn-L emission spectra and the systematic appearance of new spectral features in S-L emission spectra were observed. Partial substitution of Zn by a magnetic Mn ion results in strong hybridization of the Mn 3d orbitals with the sp band of the host semiconductor. A detailed study of resonant inelastic scattering in the vicinity of the S and Mn-L2,3 absorption edges of these DMS is presented. Received: 6 March 1997  相似文献
