Two different problems are proposed as approximations of the usual system modelling natural convection under the Oberbeck-Boussinesq assumptions. The error is evaluated by means of the norm of its gradient in the Hilbert space. The average Nusselt number is also estimated.  相似文献

The reactivity of [HO-(tpa)Fe(V)=O] (TPA=tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine), derived from O-O bond heterolysis of its [H(2)O-(tpa)Fe(III)-OOH] precursor, was explored by means of hybrid density functional theory. The mechanism for alkane hydroxylation by the high-valent iron-oxo species invoked as an intermediate in Fe(tpa)/H(2)O(2) catalysis was investigated. Hydroxylation of methane and propane by HO-Fe(V)=O was studied by following the rebound mechanism associated with the heme center of cytochrome P450, and it is demonstrated that this species is capable of stereospecific alkane hydroxylation. The mechanism proposed for alkane hydroxylation by HO-Fe(V)=O accounts for the experimentally observed incorporation of solvent water into the products. An investigation of the possible hydroxylation of acetonitrile (i.e., the solvent used in the experiments) shows that the activation energy for hydrogen-atom abstraction by HO-Fe(V)=O is rather high and, in fact, rather similar to that of methane, despite the similarity of the H-CH(2)CN bond strength to that of the secondary C-H bond in propane. This result indicates that the kinetics of hydrogen-atom abstraction are strongly affected by the cyano group and rationalizes the lack of experimental evidence for solvent hydroxylation in competition with that of substrates such as cyclohexane.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new saccharide-based gelator (2) containing a donor moiety has been described. Gelation experiments of a dual-component gel consisting of a saccharide-based gelator bearing an acceptor group (1) and of 2 have been performed in a variety of organic solvents and water. Moreover, gelation tests at different molar ratios of 1 and 2 have been performed in water, octanol, and diphenyl ether. In these last two solvents a gel color change was observed, from colorless to yellow, upon cooling of the sample to room temperature. This phenomenon was further investigated by UV-visible spectroscopy, which revealed the presence of charge-transfer interactions in the gel, in octanol. Temperature-dependence UV spectroscopy confirmed that such interactions occur in the gel but not in the corresponding solution sample. Furthermore, T(gel) measurements show that dual-component gels of 1 and 2 present increased thermal stability at a 50:50 ratio of the two gelators, in dependence of the solvent. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images of the single-component gels in diphenyl ether revealed that they consist of a fibrous network, while the dual-component gel presents a novel, helical, fibrous-bundle structure.  相似文献

Atmospheric bulk deposition of major and trace elements was measured at Venice from November 1995 to October 1997. Collection was carried out using polyethylene bulk passive samplers, samples being collected bi-weekly. In order to highlight the contribution of the atmosphere to water chemistry and particle budgets in the Lagoon of Venice, the geochemical composition (Si, Al, Ca, Mg, K, Na, Mn, Cr, Zn, Pb, Cd, Cu, As) of dissolved and insoluble bulk fractions was determined by AAS + ICP mass spectrometry. Great sample variability was found, with almost two orders of magnitude between maximum and minimum values for several metals. All fluxes in 1995/96 were 30% lower than in 1996/97, ranging from -3% (Ca) to -57% (Li), except for Zn, Cd and As. On the contrary, the solubility of all elements decreased during 1996/97. Partitioning between soluble and insoluble phases shows that Al, Cr, Fe and Si are mainly in the insoluble form, whereas for As, Ca, Cu, Mg, Na, Ni, K, Pb and Zn the dissolved fraction represents 50-90% of total input. The amount of particle load affects partitioning between dissolved and particulate, especially for Al and Pb. Seasonal variability was evident. The lowest pH values (approximately 5.2) were recorded in winter, causing an increase of solubility for all metals except for As, which showed the highest solubility in summer.  相似文献

Density functional theory with the B3LYP hybrid functional has been used to study the mechanisms for dioxygen activation by four families of mononuclear non-heme iron enzymes: alpha-ketoacid-dependent dioxygenases, tetrahydrobiopterin-dependent hydroxylases, extradiol dioxygenases, and Rieske dioxygenases. These enzymes have a common active site with a ferrous ion coordinated to two histidines and one carboxylate group (aspartate or glutamate). In contrast to the heme case, this type of weak field environment always leads to a high-spin ground state. With the exception of the Rieske dioxygenases, which have an electron source outside the active site, the dioxygen activation process passes through the formation of a bridging-peroxide species, which then undergoes O-O bond cleavage finally leading to the four electron reduction of O(2). In the case of tetrahydrobiopterin- and alpha-ketoacid-dependent enzymes, the O-O heterolysis yields a high-valent iron-oxo species, which is capable of performing a two-electron oxidation chemistry on various organic substrates. For the other two families of enzymes (extradiol dioxygenases and Rieske dioxygenases) the substrate oxidation and the O-O bond cleavage are found to be coupled. In the extradiol dioxygenases the product of the O-O bond cleavage is a ferric iron with an oxy-substrate with a mixture of radical and anionic character, which is essential for the selectivity of the catechol cleavage.  相似文献

Photoinduced charge separation and recombination in a carotenoid-porphyrin-fullerene triad C-P-C(60)(1) have been followed by multifrequency time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (TREPR) at intermediate magnetic field and microwave frequency (X-band) and high field and frequency (W-band). The electron-transfer process has been characterized in the different phases of two uniaxial liquid crystals (E-7 and ZLI-1167). The triad undergoes photoinduced electron transfer, with the generation of a long-lived charge-separated state, and charge recombination to the triplet state, localized in the carotene moiety, mimicking different aspects of the photosynthetic electron-transfer process. Both the photoinduced spin-correlated radical pair and the spin-polarized recombination triplet are observed starting from the crystalline up to the isotropic phase of the liquid crystals. The W-band TREPR radical pair spectrum has allowed unambiguous assignment of the spin-correlated radical pair spectrum to the charge-separated state C(.+)-P-C(60)(.-). The magnetic interaction parameters have been evaluated by simulation of the spin-polarized radical pair spectrum and the spin-selective recombination rates have been derived from the time dependence of the spectrum. The weak exchange interaction parameter (J = +0.5 +/- 0.2 G) provides a direct measure of the dominant electronic coupling matrix element V between the C(.+)-P-C(60)(.-) radical pair state and the recombination triplet state (3)C-P-C(60). The kinetic parameters have been analyzed in terms of the effect of the liquid crystal medium on the electron-transfer process. Effects of orientation of the molecular triad in the liquid crystal are evidenced by simulations of the carotenoid triplet state EPR spectra at different orientations of the external magnetic field with respect to the director of the mesophase. The order parameter (S = 0.5 +/- 0.05) has been evaluated.  相似文献

SIRT5 is a member of the Sirtuin family, a class of deacetylating enzymes consisting of seven isoforms, involved in the regulation of several processes, including gene expression, metabolism, stress response, and aging. Measurements have been carried out on furnished orchestra platforms in four concert halls in Italy in order to describe the sound field perceived by musicians. The heterogeneous nature of the orchestra suggested a procedure able to take into account the mutual hearing between instrumental sections. The measured parameters were the early, late and total support, the reverberation time, the early decay time and the clarity index. A part of the study has been devoted to the measurement uncertainty estimation. The source directivity and the small displacements of the microphone influence the early decay time to a great extent while the on-platform spatial variability affects both the early decay time and the clarity index. Per-section early support shows differences that render the overall spatial mean inappropriate to describe the stage as a whole. For the other parameters an overall mean platform value can instead be suitable, even though, for the case of clarity a more evident group variability is observed. The values of late support, reverberation time, early decay time and clarity index, proposed in literature as suitable measures of reverberance for musicians, are not all intercorrelated, indicating that not all these parameters can be associated to the same subjective impression.  相似文献

Agro-wastes represent an abundant and economical source of antioxidant compounds. Extraction and incorporation of antioxidants from these compounds into ethyl cellulose films provides the basis for an active packaging material. Grape tannin extract (GT) incorporation into ethyl cellulose results in hydrogen bonding between polyphenols and ethyl cellulose strands, which allows for the polyphenols to remain active and to be securely incorporated. Incorporation of 0.5 % GT in ethyl cellulose produced a significant increase (p < 0.01) in antioxidant activity while not altering physical or mechanical properties. A higher loading of GT at 3.0 % into ethyl cellulose resulted in further improvement in antioxidant activity (12-fold), while a slight decrease in the tensile properties was noted due to the plasticizing effect of GT as a consequence of disruption of the intermolecular hydrogen bonding.  相似文献

Following a similar approach on carvacrol-based derivatives, we investigated the synthesis and the microbiological screening against eight strains of H. pylori, and the cytotoxic activity against human gastric adenocarcinoma (AGS) cells of a new series of ether compounds based on the structure of thymol. Structural analysis comprehended elemental analysis and 1H/13C/19F NMR spectra. The analysis of structure–activity relationships within this molecular library of 38 structurally-related compounds reported that some chemical modifications of the OH group of thymol led to broad-spectrum growth inhibition on all isolates. Preferred substitutions were benzyl groups compared to alkyl chains, and the specific presence of functional groups at para position of the benzyl moiety such as 4-CN and 4-Ph endowed the most anti-H. pylori activity toward all the strains with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values up to 4 µg/mL. Poly-substitution on the benzyl ring was not essential. Moreover, several compounds characterized by the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration/minimum bactericidal concentration (MIC/MBC) values against H. pylori were also tested in order to verify a cytotoxic effect against AGS cells with respect to 5-fluorouracil and carvacrol. Three derivatives can be considered as new lead compounds alternative to current therapy to manage H. pylori infection, preventing the occurrence of severe gastric diseases. The present work confirms the possibility to use natural compounds as templates for the medicinal semi-synthesis.  相似文献
