We demonstrate high bit rate electro-optic modulation in a resonant micrometer-scale silicon modulator over an ambient temperature range of 15 K. We show that low bit error rates can be achieved by varying the bias current through the device to thermally counteract the ambient temperature changes. Robustness in the presence of thermal variations can enable a wide variety of applications for dense on chip electronic photonic integration.  相似文献

Through an examination of the Bohm-Aharonov experiment, we shall propose a new theory of gravitation and electromagnetism. The fundamental assumption of our theory is that the motion of a particle in a combination of gravitational and electromagnetic fields is determined from a variational principle of the form f A B d = 0. The form of the physical time is determined from an examination of the Maxwell-Einstein action function. The field and motion equations are formally identical to those of Maxwell-Einstein theory. The theory predicts that even in a field-free region of space, electromagnetic potentials can alter the phase of a wave function and the lifetime of a charged particle. The phase alteration has been observed in the Bohm-Aharonov experiment. There is an indication that the lifetime alteration has shown up in a recent CERN storage ring experiment. Experimental tests are proposed.  相似文献

A number of experiments show that the decay lifetimes of muons bound to atomic nuclei are longer than the decay lifetimes of free muons. The special relativistic time dilation predicts decay lifetime dilations that are substantially smaller than the observed decay lifetime dilations. In this paper it is shown that adding a recently predicted electro-magnetic time dilation (analogous to the gravitational time dilation) to the special relativistic time dilation gives a total time dilation that agrees with the observed decay lifetime dilations.  相似文献

The rheological behavior of modified silica sols has been investigated by gel formation kinetics and dynamic flowing within the pH range 3–7 and the temperature range 20–50°C. The sols show pseudo-plastic behavior at low shear-rates, with Newtonian behavior below 100 s–1. Oscillation measurements reveal that gelation starts with a significant decrease of phase difference <10°, because of a strong increase in elastic behavior. After solidification the values of phase difference increase, indicating a partial destruction of the gel structure due to stress. The relationship between the viscosity of the modified silica sols and their coating parameters was compared for both dip coating and continuous coating with a slide coating unit.  相似文献

Through an examination of neutron lifetimes we shall propose a new theory of gravitational, electromagnetic, and nuclear fields. The fundamental assumption of our theory is that the motion of a particle in a combination of gravitational, electromagnetic, and nuclear fields is determined from a variational principle of the form A B d=0. The form of the physical time is determined from an examination of classical equations of motion. The field equations are determined from an examination of Maxwell-Einstein theory and Yukawa theory. Utilizing the standard elementary model of the deuteron, the theory predicts that at a proton-neutron separationr 10–13 cm the neutron lifetime is infinite and that nucleons have a repulsive core.
