Enhancement of spontaneous emission in a resonant Bragg quantum well (QW) structure with 60 periods of triple InAs monolayers embedded in a GaAs matrix is studied experimentally and theoretically. From measurements of the time‐resolved photoluminescence, besides the QW exciton at 1.47 eV, a specific super‐radiant (SR) emission demonstrating nonlinear properties is found. The SR mode shows a near‐quadratic dependence of intensity on excitation power, while its energy position follows the Bragg condition. It is revealed that the SR mode shows a peculiar non‐monotonic dependence of intensity on direction, with a maximum observed at approximately 40°. The enhancement in the SR emission at a specific direction is correlated well with suggested theoretical consideration of the modal Purcell factor for periodic quantum well structures.  相似文献

We study a one dimensional tight binding hamiltonian with a potential given by the period doubling sequence. We prove that its spectrum is purely singular continuous and supported on a Cantor set of zero Lebesgue measure, for all nonzero values of the potential strength. Moreover, we obtain the exact labelling of all spectral gaps and compute their widths asymptotically for small potential strength.  相似文献

The sample average approximation (SAA) method is an approach for solving stochastic optimization problems by using Monte Carlo simulation. In this technique the expected objective function of the stochastic problem is approximated by a sample average estimate derived from a random sample. The resulting sample average approximating problem is then solved by deterministic optimization techniques. The process is repeated with different samples to obtain candidate solutions along with statistical estimates of their optimality gaps.We present a detailed computational study of the application of the SAA method to solve three classes of stochastic routing problems. These stochastic problems involve an extremely large number of scenarios and first-stage integer variables. For each of the three problem classes, we use decomposition and branch-and-cut to solve the approximating problem within the SAA scheme. Our computational results indicate that the proposed method is successful in solving problems with up to 21694 scenarios to within an estimated 1.0% of optimality. Furthermore, a surprising observation is that the number of optimality cuts required to solve the approximating problem to optimality does not significantly increase with the size of the sample. Therefore, the observed computation times needed to find optimal solutions to the approximating problems grow only linearly with the sample size. As a result, we are able to find provably near-optimal solutions to these difficult stochastic programs using only a moderate amount of computation time.  相似文献

In experiments on the parametrical amplification of femtosecond pulses in wide-aperture DKDP crystals, a power of more than 100 TW has been reached, which is much higher than the record level achieved in such lasers. The energy efficiency obtained for the parametric amplifier is equal to 27%. The energy of a 72-fs pulse is equal to 10 J.  相似文献

Improved sample wettability was obtained by oxygen plasma functionalization of pyrolytic graphite. The samples were exposed to highly dissociated oxygen plasma with the density of 1 × 1016 m−3, the electron temperature of about 5.5 eV and the density of neutral oxygen atoms of 8 × 1021 m−3 for 20 s. The surface wettability was measured by a contact angle of water drop. The contact angle dropped from original 112° down to about 1°. The functional groups were detected by XPS analyses. The survey spectrum showed a substantial increase of oxygen concentration on the surface, while high-resolution analyses showed additional oxygen was bonded onto the graphite surface in the form of C-O polar functional group responsible for the increase of the surface energy.  相似文献

The electrodynamic properties of coaxial two-dimensional Bragg resonators with two-dimensional distributed feedback are analyzed. These resonators are made of coaxial waveguide sections with doubly periodic corrugation, which provides coupling and mutual scattering of four partial waves. Two of them propagate along the waveguide, while the other two propagate in the transverse (azimuthal) direction. It is shown that the high azimuthal index selectivity of two-dimensional Bragg resonators may be related to a qualitative difference in topology of the dispersion characteristics of azimuth-symmetric and asymmetric normal waves propagating in infinite waveguides of such a geometry. For the finite-length systems used as two-dimensional Bragg resonators, the eigenmode spectrum is found for two types of boundary conditions that correspond to the limiting cases of perfectly matched (open) systems and, conversely, of systems closed for the extraction of transverse electromagnetic fluxes. Perimeter-to-length ratios of the resonator at which the Q factor of the fundamental azimuth-symmetric mode is greater than those of the other modes are determined. The applicability domain of the geometrical approach, which was earlier applied to two-dimensional Bragg resonators, is discussed.  相似文献

Due to the hot, arid nature of its bordering lands, seawater in the Arabian Gulf can have significant evaporation rates leading to hypersaline conditions. If additional desalination plants were to operate along its coast, then the extraction of desalinated water and returned brine waste stream into the Gulf would increase the salinity. This paper uses a tidally and cross-sectionally averaged mathematical model that reveals multiplicative dependence of the salinity on factors associated with river flow, evaporation rates and each of the desalination plants. Present-day desalinated water production rates are in the linear regime, but hypersalinity has exponential sensitivity to the position and volumetric rate of desalinated water extraction.  相似文献
