Modifications of the optical properties of dimethyl-dithienothiophenes due to the oxygen functionalization of the central sulfur atom are investigated. We have measured the absorption, photoluminescence (PL) and PL excitation spectra, the PL quantum efficiencies, and the PL decay times. These experimental results are interpreted and compared with first-principles time-dependent density-functional theory calculations, which predict, for the considered systems, excitation and emission energies with an accuracy of 0.1 eV. It is found that the oxygenation strongly changes optical and photophysical properties. These effects are related to the modifications of the energetically lowest-unoccupied molecular orbital and the energetically second highest occupied one, which change the relative position of the two lowest singlet and triplet excited states. 相似文献

We conduct rheological characterization of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) suspensions, a highly non-Newtonian complex fluid, at several concentrations. Special care is taken to cope with the prevalent problems of time scale issues, wall depletion and confinement effects. We do this by combining the wide-gap vane geometry, extremely long measurement times, and modeling. We take into account the wide-gap related stress heterogeneity by extending upon mainstream methods and apply a gap correction. Furthermore, we rationalize the experimental data through a simple viscous structural model. With these tools we find that, owing to the small size of the particles subjected to Brownian motion, the NFC suspensions exhibit a critical shear rate, where the flow curve experiences a turning point. This makes the steady state of these suspensions at low shear rates non-unique. To optimize various mixing and pumping applications, such history dependent tendency of NFC suspensions to shear band needs to be taken into account. 相似文献

Poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene) (PF8) thin films have been deposited by matrix-assisted pulsed laser evaporation (MAPLE) using a KrF excimer laser. The influence of the laser fluence (50-500 mJ/cm2) and the nature of the solvent (chloroform, toluene, tetrahydrofuran) on the films properties have been studied. The chemical composition of the deposited films was investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and compared with the one of spin coated films. To investigate the effect of the deposition parameters on the optical properties of the films, photoluminescence (PL) measurements were performed. Poor structural and optical properties were observed for films deposited starting from chloroform solutions. When using toluene as solvent, the spectra characteristics improved with increasing laser fluence, while wide PL spectra were observed. The characteristic emission bands of the PF8 polymer were nicely detected for films deposited starting from a tetrahydrofuran (THF) solution. Moreover, in this last case, the PF8 structure is preserved at high laser fluences, too. 相似文献

The efficiency optimization of bulk heterojunction solar cells requires the control of the local active materials arrangement in order to obtain the best compromise between efficient charge generation and charge collection. Here, we investigate the large scale (10–100 μm) inhomogeneity of the photoluminescence (PL) and the external quantum efficiency (EQE) in inverted all‐polymer solar cells (APSC) with regioregular poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT):poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorene‐co‐benzothiadiazole) (F8BT) active blends. The morphology and the local active polymer mixing are changed by depositing the active layer from four different solvents and by thermal annealing. The simultaneous PL and EQE mapping allowed us to inspect the effects of local irregularities of active layer thickness, polymer mixing, polymer aggregation on the charge generation and collection efficiencies. In particular, we show that the increase of the solvent boiling point affects the EQE non‐uniformity due to thickness fluctuations, the density non‐uniformity of rrP3HT aggregate phase, and the blend components clustering. The thermal annealing leads to a general improvement of EQE and to an F8BT clustering in all the samples with locally decrease of the EQE. We estimate that the film uniformity optimization can lead to a total EQE improvement between 2.7 and 6.3 times. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part B: Polym. We prepared InGaN layers on GaN/sapphire substrates using rf-MBE. Photoluminescence (PL) from these layers, grown at different temperatures TS, shows that there is a strong tendency of GaN to form a separate phase as TS is increased from 600°C to 650°C. Concomitant with the phase separation, the PL from the InGaN phase broadens, which indicates that indium composition in this phase becomes increasingly non-uniform. Indium compositions measured by Rutherford backscattering (RBS) are consistent with these results. We also observed an increase in PL intensity for InGaN layers grown at higher temperatures. In this paper, we also report on preparing a top-contact InGaN/GaN light emitting diode. The device was operated at 447 nm and had the emission line width of 37 nm with no observable impurity related features. The turn-on voltage was 3.0 V. The output power was 20 μW at 60 mA drive current. 相似文献
