Synthesis of benzo[b]furan-2-thioles from 4-(2-hydroxyaryl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles

4-(2-Hydroxyaryl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles treated with bases decompose with nitrogen liberation and the formation of benzo[b]furan-2-thiolates. On acidifying the thiolates benzo[b]furan-2-thiols were obtained. 4-(4- and -5-Benzyloxy-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles formed analogously the corresponding benzo[b]furan-2-thiolates whose acidifying afforded polymeric compounds.     

4-(2-Hydroxyaryl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles as a Source of 2-Benzofuranthiolates

Following the Hurd-Mori procedure, 4-(2-hydroxyaryl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles were synthesized from o-hydroxyacetophenones. Treatment of the products with bases gives 2-benzofuranthiolates which can be involved in alkylation and arylation reactions.     

One-pot synthesis of substituted 2-aminobenzo[b]thiophenes

Reaction of 1-(2-chloro-5-nitrophenyl)ethanone 1, via Willgerodt-Kindler routes, using the primary and secondary amines 2a-k resulted in a simple, efficient three-component one-pot synthesis of 2-aminobenzo[b]thiophenes 3a-k.     

Synthesis and reactivity of 4-(2-chloro-5-nitrophenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazole. A novel one-pot synthesis of N-substituted indole-2-thiols

4-(2-Chloro-5-nitrophenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazole undergoes ring opening to produce a thioketene intermediate that reacts with an O- or N-nucleophile, forming an ester or an amide of the aryl-substituted thioacetic acid. Intermolecular cyclization of the thioacetic acid derivative via nucleophilic substitution of halogen in the aromatic ring gives an N-substituted indole-2-thiol (in case of an N-nucleophile) or a 2-alkoxy-substituted benzo[b]thiophene (in case of an O-nucleophile). The reaction is also applicable to the synthesis of heterocyclic analogues of N-substituted indole-2-thiols: 1-butyl-1,3-dihydropyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine-2-thione was synthesized as an example. In the presence of potassium thioacetate (an S-nucleophile) 4-nitro-2-(1,2,3-thiadiazol-4-yl)benzenethiol is formed more quickly than thiadiazole ring opening occurs, making the heterocyclic ring tolerant toward the base.

Application of 150GHz quasi-optical EPR and endor systems to examination of materials for polarized nuclear targets

Some possibilities of mm and submm magnetic resonance spectrometers using a two-mirror open resonator as the sensor is demonstrated. A comparative analysis of sensitivity has been performed for spectrometer, with cavity and open resonators. Absorption spectra of the HMBA Cr^V complex in propylene glycol and ethylene glycol were investigated at 4.2 K.     

Synthesis of 1,1-dialkylindolium-2-thiolates via base-induced transformation of 4-(2-chloro-5-nitrophenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazole in the presence of secondary amines

4-(2-Chloro-5-nitrophenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazole undergoes ring-opening to produce a thioketene intermediate that reacts with secondary amines forming 2-(2-chloro-5-nitrophenyl)-N,N-dialkylthioacetamides. Intramolecular cyclization of these thioamides via nucleophilic substitution of the halogen on the aromatic ring affords nonaromatic 1,1-dialkylindolium-2-thiolates instead of the expected aromatic N,N-dialkylaminobenzo[b]thiophenes.
