The N-oxides of 5-(4-pyridyl)nonane and trioctylamine have been evaluated for use in the extraction of thorium from different mineral acid solutions. The influence of the concentration of the solvents and salting-out agents has been investigated. The possible mechanism of extraction is discussed in the light of the results of extraction isotherms, loading-ratio data and log-log plots of reagent concentration vs. distribution ratio. Separation factors for a number of metal ions are reported and a method for the separation of thorium from rare earth elements and yttrium is also suggested. 相似文献

Summary Radiochemical procedures have been worked out to prepare234Th(UX1) with and without carrier from uranium using N-oxide of 4-(5-nonyl)pyridine in sulphuric acid media. This reagent has also been employed in the development of a combined solvent extraction-ion exchange-spectrophotometric method for the determination of thorium in various samples.

Normal heptane, xylene, and a 0.01 molar solution of 4-(5-nonyl)pyridine in toluene have been investigated as extractants for selenium(IV) from nitric acid media in potassium iodide. Various parameters affecting the distribution of the element are investigated. Extraction at high aqueous to organic phase volume ratio has been studied, using a liquid-liquid extraction plant with a pulsation column. The distribution of iron(III) between aqueous hydrochloric acid and 0.1M 2-hexylpyridine in benzene was examined as a function of acid concentration in the aqueous solution, the metal concentration being kept constant, and as a function of increasing ferric chloride concentration at a constant acidity of hydrochloric acid. The distribution coefficient of Fe(III) (tracer) is dependent on the square of the 2-hexylpyridine concentration in the benzene phase. Negatively charged complexes of the type FeCl(2-)(5) may be the species extracted. The formation of a mixture of 1:1 and 1:2 complexes with 2-hexylpyridine is indicated. Salting-out effects of a number of salts have been investigated. Separation factors of several metal ions relative to iron(III) in 7M hydrochloric acid are also reported. The results indicate that iron(III) can be selectively separated from a large number of elements, and the method has been utilized for the preconcentration of non-ferrous metal ions in mild steels by selective separation of iron, before their subsequent determination by emission spectrometry. 相似文献

The extraction of trace amounts of mercury(II) by 2-hexylpyridine dissolved in benzene from aqueous mineral acid solutions
has been studied. The replacement of chloride, nitrate and sulfate ions by the potentially ambidentate, linear and less basic
thiocyanate group offers interestingly high extraction coefficients. The value of the distribution coefficients may be lowered
by complexing mercury with oxalate, thiosulfate, acetate or citrate ions in the aqueous phase. The possible mechanism of extraction
has been discussed in the light of the results of extraction isotherms and slope analysis data. Distribution coefficients
and separation factors of several metal ions relative to mercury(II) are reported for the three mineral acid systems and the

Composites of polyaniline with yttrium oxide (Y2O3) nanoparticles have been prepared by chemical polymerizations method by increasing the weight percentage of yttrium oxide. X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectra (FTIR) were used to characterize the composites. XRD and FTIR pattern indicate that Polyaniline (PANI) is intercalated into the layers of Y2O3 nanoparticles successfully by in situ polymerization and therefore the degree of crystallinity increases due to crystalline of yttrium oxide nanoparticles. The scanning electron micrographs (SEM) also confirm the formation of dual phase of platelet as well as of flaky structure in PANI-Y2O3. Temperature dependant DC conductivity showed three dimensional variable ranges hopping (3D VRH) model. Activation energy, density of states and hopping length are calculated and found to be influenced by intercalating PANI into the layers of Y2O3 clay. 相似文献

This contribution investigates thermal decomposition of leucine, as a representative model compound for amino acids in algal biomass. We map out potential energy surface for a wide array of unimolecular and self-condensation reactions operating in the decomposition of leucine. Decarboxylation and dehydration of leucine ensues by eliminating CO2 and –OH, respectively, from the –COOH group attached to the α-carbon. The molecular channel for deamination involves cleavage of NH2 from α-carbon of leucine. The activation energies for direct elimination of CO2, NH3, and H2O from a leucine molecule lie within 20.7 kJ/mol of each other. Activation energies for these decomposition pathways reside below the bond dissociation enthalpy of H–C(α) of 323.1 kJ/mol. The decarboxylation, deamination, and dehydration pathways, via radical-prompted pathways, systematically require lower energy barriers, in reference to closed-shell reaction corridors. Detailed computations at the CBS-QB3 level provide the Arrhenius rate parameters for the unimolecular and bimolecular reactions, and standard enthalpies of formation, standard entropies, and heat capacities for all the products and intermediates. A kinetic analysis of gas-phase reactions, within the context of a plug-flow reactor model, accounts qualitatively for the formation of major products observed experimentally in the thermal degradation of the condensed-phase leucine. Among notable N-containing species, the model predicts the prevailing of NH3 over HCN and HNCO, in addition to corresponding appreciable concentrations of amines, imines, and nitriles. Our detailed kinetic investigation illustrates a negligible contribution of the self-condensation reactions of leucine in the gas phase. 相似文献
