This paper reports on the first experimental observation of quantum-well states and sp-type resonances in thin single-crystal gold, silver, and copper layers formed on single-crystal W(110) surfaces, which result from spatial localization of Bloch-type electronic wave functions in a quantum well with potential barriers at the vacuum/metal and metal/W(110) interfaces. An electrostatic interaction between two separate, grounded, uncharged, perfectly conducting spheres of different radii in a uniform electrostatic field is investigated. A solution to the problem of nonlinear surface vibration of a charged ideal liquid drop is found in a third-order approximation in initial multimode deformation of the equilibrium spherical shape by the method of many scales. It is shown that the spectrum of modes that are responsible for the shape of the drop at an arbitrary time instant depends considerably on the spectrum of modes governing the initial deformation of the drop. The latter spectrum also has an effect on nonlinear corrections to the vibration frequencies and, consequently, on a nonlinear correction to the critical Rayleigh parameter, which specifies the stability of the drop against self-charge. 相似文献

A model of a helical nanotube permitting analytical calculation of the spectrum and wave functions is proposed and studied. It is shown that the specific character of the symmetry of the Hamiltonian results in an electronic spectrum having no band structure despite the periodicity of the potential along the system axis. A two-dimensional ribbon rolled into a helix and a quasi-one-dimensional helix in a magnetic field are considered as limiting cases of the model. Poly(p-xylylene)-based nanocomposites containing various amounts of copper have been prepared by vacuum codeposition on a cooled substrate. On the basis of the relationship between the electrical conductivity of composites and the volume content of copper, the percolation threshold has been estimated as 10%. This value coincides with the corresponding parameter derived from the concentration dependence of the electrical resistance temperature coefficient. It has been shown that the conductivity of the nanocomposites increases with the moisture content and their moisture sensitivity decreases with an increase in the content of copper from a concentration of 4%. An analysis of the kinetics of the sensor response measured for various moisture contents has shown that the capacity structure of the samples rearranges during adsorption of water. According to the advanced model, the value of the sensor response is determined by a reduction in the height of the potential barrier between nanoparticles and a change in the fractal characteristics of nanocomposites that results from the adsorption of water molecules. 相似文献
