Fabrication of "hairy" colloidosomes with shells of polymeric microrods   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Novel colloidosome microcapsules with aqueous gel cores and integral shells of rodlike polymeric particles have been prepared and characterized. The synthesis is based on templating water-in-oil emulsions stabilized by rodlike particles followed by gelling of the aqueous phase, dissolution of the oil phase in ethanol, and redispersion of the obtained colloidosome capsules in water. Such capsules may find applications as vehicles for delivery and controlled release of drugs, cosmetics, and food supplements.  相似文献

Alkyloxyethylene sulfates are a special class of surfactants that are unusually stable in the presence of multivalent counterions and are not as prone to precipitation as anionic surfactants without intermediate ethoxy groups in the molecule. However, formation of micelles, their structure, and the properties of monolayers of these surfactants exhibit very interesting and sometimes unexpected properties depending on the nature of the ions dissolved in the solution. This paper presents a brief overview of our recent efforts to reveal the nature of these properties, including some new results. We show that the strong binding of multivalent (and particularly trivalent counterions) triggers a sphere-to-cylinder shape transition of the micelles and facilitates their further growth, even at very low ionic strength. The properties of surfactant monolayers are coupled to those of the micelles in the bulk and are governed also by multivalent counterion binding. The effect of multivalent counterions on the aggregation and structure formation in anionic surfactant solutions has both fundamental and practical importance.  相似文献

Colloidal dispersions of C60 and C70 were prepared by simply mixing a fullerene solution in a good solvent with a poor polar organic solvent for fullerenes. The process was very easy and fast and the formation of particles with average diameter in the colloidal range was detected immediately after the components were mixed. The formation and the properties of the fullerene particles were studied mainly with dynamic light scattering and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The most interesting findings are the long-term colloid stability of the samples in the absence of any stabilizers, the relatively narrow size distribution, and the different average sizes of the particles formed by C60, C70, and their mixtures. The influence of various factors such as fullerene concentration, mixing procedure, solvent properties, and C60/C70 ratio was investigated. It is shown that the smaller particles are formed when the total fullerene concentration in the good solvent is decreased and that the fullerene particles have crystalline structure. The measured negative values for the electrophoretic mobility of the particles suggest that fullerene dispersions in polar organic solvents are stabilized by repulsive electrostatic interactions.  相似文献

In this paper it is shown that the projective cover of the trivial irreducible module of a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra is induced from the one dimensional trivial module of a maximal torus. As a consequence, the number of the isomorphism classes of irreducible modules with a fixed p-character for a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra L is bounded above by p MT(L), where MT(L) denotes the maximal dimension of a torus in L. Finally, it is proved that in characteristic p > 3 the projective cover of the trivial irreducible L-module is induced from the one-dimensional trivial module of a torus of maximal dimension, only if L is solvable.  相似文献

The application of dynamic light scattering to measure viscosity of water at high temperatures and pressures is demonstrated. Viscosity was obtained from the translational diffusion coefficient of probe particles dispersed in the medium by the Einstein-Stokes relationship. Measurements were carried out with polystyrene latex, colloidal silica, and colloidal gold. Under a constant pressure of 25 MPa, good agreement was found between the measured and calculated viscosities up to 275 degrees C with the polystyrene latex, 200 degrees C with the colloidal silica, and 297 degrees C with the colloidal gold. It was found that failure of the measurements at high temperatures is ascribed to change in either the dispersion stability or chemical stability of the probe particles. The present results indicate that the technique could also be used for other supercritical fluids having high critical temperature and pressure, such as methanol (T(c) = 239.4 degrees C, P(c) = 8.1 MPa) and ethanol (T(c) = 243.1 degrees C, P(c) = 6.4 MPa).  相似文献

Dispersion stability of colloids has been investigated in sub- and supercritical water by measuring the hydrodynamic diffusion coefficients of the particles by means of dynamic light scattering. It is interestingly found that coagulation of the colloids in sub- and supercritical water is a universal phenomenon irrespective of the material of the colloids. Highly charged colloids were found to be more stable in water against high temperature. Numerical analysis reveals that the stability of the colloids at elevated temperature and pressure is primarily governed by the temperature dependence of the dielectric constant of the medium. The effect of the temperature dependence of the ion product of water (pKw) was found to be very little. Surface charge density and Stern potential may change with respect to temperature due to the readjustment of the ion concentration in the diffuse layer through the enhanced ion product and reduced dielectric constant of water. These are the secondary causes of the particle coagulations in sub- and supercritical water.  相似文献

Dual-detector differential non-destructive Fourier transform detection in a quadrupole ion trap is shown to improve signal intensity and reduce noise compared with spectra recorded using a single detector. A larger area detector in each end-cap electrode is machined to fit its hyperbolic shape and so minimize field imperfections on the z-axis. Argon, acetophenone and bromobenzene spectra were recorded to allow a comparison between single- and dual-detector (differential) modes of detection and to demonstrate the improvement achieved with differential detection.
