Wavelet transforms (WT) are widely accepted as an essential tool for image processing and analysis. Image and video compression, image watermarking, content-base image retrieval, face recognition, texture analysis, and image feature extraction are all but few examples. It provides an alternative tool for short time analysis of quasi-stationary signals, such as speech and image signals, in contrast to the traditional short-time Fourier transform. The Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is a special case of the WT, which provides a compact representation of a signal in the time and frequency domain. In particular, wavelet transforms are capable of representing smooth patterns as well anomalies (e.g. edges and sharp corners) in images. We are focusing here on using wavelet transforms statistical properties for facial feature detection, which allows us to extract the image facial feature/edges easily. Wavelet sub-bands segmentation method been developed and used to clean up the non-significant wavelet coefficients in wavelet sub-band (k) based on the (k-1) sub-band. Moreover, erosion which is considered as one of the fundamental operation in morphological image processing, been used to reduce the unwanted edges in certain directions. For face detection, face template profiles been built for both the face and the eyes for different wavelet sub-band levels to achieve better computational performance, these profiles used to match the extracted profiles from the wavelet domain of the input image using the Dynamic Time Warping technique DTW. The DTW smallest distance allows identifying the face and the eyes location. The performance of face features distances and ratio has been also tested for face verification purposes. Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) has been applied for the quantitative speciation of sulfur containing compounds in gas oil (GO). For this purpose, ionization and mass spectrometric parameters have been studied and optimized with a set of standard compounds and GO samples. Comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) was used as the reference method. To allow a quantitative comparison between FT-ICR MS and GCxGC results for GO samples, FT-ICR MS parameters were optimized and data obtained by both techniques were standardized. Response factors were established for two ionization modes: atmospheric pressure photo ionization (APPI) and electrospray after selective derivatization of sulfur compounds (MeESI). To test the validity of the developed MS methods, a third GO was analyzed and response factors were applied. Comparison with GCxGC results showed good agreement for sulfur families (deviation within 5% and 15% for MeESI and APPI data, respectively). Abundances of individual isomer groups match within 40% in most cases. These results principally demonstrate the suitability of FT-ICR MS for a quantitative analysis of sulfur compounds (by DBE and carbon number distribution pattern) in petroleum middle distillates. This approach has the potential to be extended to higher- and non-boiling petroleum fractions where quantitative speciation is presently not available.  相似文献

In implantology it is known that fibronectin affects cell-substrate adhesion, consequently, the structure and composition of the initially adsorbed fibronectin layer to a large extent determines the biological response to a biomaterial implanted into the body. In this study we have used neutron reflectometry and quartz-crystal microbalance with dissipation to investigate the amount of fibronectin adsorbed, the layer density, thickness and structure of films adsorbed to polished silicon oxide surfaces. We have cultured MG63 osteoblast-like cells on surfaces coated and uncoated with fibronectin and monitored the cellular response to these surfaces. The results show that at fibronectin concentrations in the range 0.01 to 0.1mg/ml a single highly hydrated layer of fibronectin approximately 40-50Å in thickness adsorbs to a polished silicon oxide surface and is likely to correspond to one diffuse monolayer of fibronectin arranged side-on. Cells cultured on this fibronectin layer have dramatically different morphology and growth to those grown on bare surfaces. Using a model silicon oxide surface has enabled us to study the substrate/protein interface, together with the impact of a fibronectin layer on the cellular response using consistent experimental conditions across a unique set of experimental techniques.  相似文献

In this study, n-ZnO/p-Si solar cells were fabricated by spraying ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) film synthesised by dissolving of high purity zinc in hydrogen peroxide H2O2 followed by thermal oxidation in air on p-type silicon substrates. The oxidation was carried out at different temperatures (200–500) °C. The crystalline structure of the ZnO NPs films was investigated by X-ray diffraction which indicated wurtzite structure films along (100) plane. The morphology of the NPs was studied by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The result showed an average grain size of ZnO NPs in the range of (72.7–95.8) nm and the surface roughness increasing with oxidation temperature. Three peaks located at ultraviolet, violet and green emission regions were noticed in the photoluminescence spectra of ZnO NPs. From optical studies, it was shown that the direct optical band gap is found to be in the range of (3.85–3.96) eV depended on the oxidation temperature. The synthesised ZnO films have n-type conductivity, and the mobility was in the range of (7–24) cm2 V?1 s?1. Current–voltage IV and capacitance–voltage CV of ZnO NPs/Si heterojunction solar cell were investigated as function of oxidation temperature. The spectral response of n-ZnO NPs/p-Si solar cell showed two peaks of response and its maximum value approaching 0.62 mA W?1 at λ = 800 nm. Solar cell oxidized at 500 °C gave open circuit voltage V OC of 375 mV, short circuit current density J SC of 25 mA cm?2, a fill factor FF of 0.72, and conversion efficiency η of 6.79 % under illumination of 100 mW cm?2.  相似文献
