Donor-acceptor copolymers from cyclopentannulation polymerizations with dicyclopenta[cd,jk]pyrene and dicyclopenta[cd,lm] perylene acceptors

A series of donor-acceptor copolymers with dicyclopenta[cd,jk]pyrene and dicyclopenta[cd,lm]perylene acceptor units was prepared via palladium catalyzed cyclopenta-annulation reactions. The acceptor units were paired with diethynyl containing donor groups based on benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’]dithiophene, thieno[3,2-b]thiophene, and 4-octyl-4H-dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrrole to create six polymer variants. The cyclopentannulation polymerization resulted in copolymers with molecular weights (Mn) of 6–14 kDa and broad light absorption in the visible region with band gaps of 1.38–1.85 eV. The synthetic methodology, as well as optoelectronic properties, including thin-film absorption and cyclic voltammetry, of the donor-acceptor copolymers are presented.     

Hetarylpyrazoles. II. Reactions of pyrazol-l'-ylpyridines

Pyrazol-l'-ylpyridines undergo electrophilic substitution reactions (bromination, chlorination, and nitration) preferentially in the pyrazole ring. There is some evidence of the mutual influence of the pyrazole and the pyridine ring on the reactivity of the system. Some modifications of the substituents were also carried out. A dihydro derivative of a new ring system, pyrazolo[1′,2′-a]pyrido[2,1-c][l,2,4]triazine was also obtained.     

Pyranopyrazoles. II. Synthesis and reactions of 1H,6H-pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazol-6-ones

Various 1H,6H-pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazol-6-ones (III-XXIII) were obtained from β-keto esters and 1H-pyrazol-5-ones or hydrazines. Nitrations, chlorinations and brominations of these pyranopyrazoles were also carried out giving the corresponding derivatives (XXIV-LXIV). The pyrone ring is the more reactive one in these reactions and the preferred position of attack is the 5-position. The substitution products are formed by the addition-elimination route.     

Heterocyclic compounds from 3-(4-phenyl) benzoyl propionic acid

3-(4-Phenyl) benzoyl propionic acid was used as the starting material for the synthesisof furanones (2), pyrrolinones (5), pyridazinones (7), benzoxazinones (8) and quinazolinones (9-11). The behaviour of the derivatives of furanones and benzoxazinones toward different nucleophiles is reported.     

Fused pyrazolopyrimidines. I. Pyrazolo[4,3-e]-v-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine. A new heterocyclic system

5-Azido-4-cyano-1-phenylpyrazole reacts with benzylcyanide in the presence of sodium methoxide to give the title ring system.     

1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]thieno[2,3-b]pyridine and its derivatives

The synthesis of the parent ring system and some of the derivatives of 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]thieno[2,3-b]pyridine are described.     

Synthesis,structural characterization and biological studies of neodymium(III) and samarium(III) complexes with mercaptotriazole Schiff bases

A series of neodymium(III) and samarium(III) complexes of type [Ln(L)Cl(H₂O)₃] have been synthesized with Schiff bases (LH₂) derived from 3‐(phenyl/substituted phenyl)‐4‐amino‐5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazoles and isatin. The structures of the complexes were established using elemental analysis, molar conductivities, magnetic moments, infrared, NMR (¹H, ¹³C) and UV–visible spectra, X‐ray diffraction and mass spectrometry. The thermal behaviour of these compounds under non‐isothermal conditions was investigated using thermogravimetry and differential thermogravimetry. The intermediates obtained at the end of various thermal decomposition steps were identified from elemental analysis and infrared spectral studies. All the ligands and their complexes were also screened for their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus and Colletotrichum capsici. Facile,eco-friendly,one-pot protocol for the synthesis of indole-imidazole derivatives catalyzed by amino acids

An efficient, convenient green approach for the synthesis of indole-based 2,4,5-trisubstituted and 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles by multicomponent reaction of substituted 2-arylindole-3-carbaldehydes, benzil, substituted anilines, and ammonium acetate using catalytic amino acid (glycine) in ethanol is described. Several amino acids have also been evaluated as organic catalysts for these reactions. The structures of the compounds have been established on the basis of infrared, mass, and ¹H NMR spectral data. The mild reaction conditions, inexpensive/economical reagents, and good yield show the usefulness of this approach.
