Analysis is presented for the heat transfer performance of square ducts with internal fins from each wall in the case of combined free and forced convection by fully developed laminar flow. Numerical results are obtained for the Nusselt number and the pressure drop parameter for various values of finlengths and heat source parameter. For various values of Rayleigh numbers, the Nusselt number increases with the increase in finlength and decreases with the increase in heat source parameter.
Zusammenfassung Es wird eine Analyse für den Wärmeaustausch von quadratischen Rohren mit inneren Rippen an jeder Wand im Falle einer Kombination von freier und erzwungener Konvektion bei voll entwickelter laminarer Strömung gegeben. Numerische Resultate für die Nusselt-Zahl und den Druckabfall-Koeffizienten für verschiedene Rippenbreiten und Parameter der Wärmequelle werden erhalten. Für einige Werte der Rayleighzahl wächst die Nusselt-Zahl mit der Rippenbreite und fällt mit wachsendem Parameter der Wärmequelle.

The character of equilibrium of a Maxwell fluid in the presence of a magnetic field has been investigated. It is shown that the solution is characterized by a variational principle when the direction of magnetic field is either horizontal or vertical. For both directions, an approximate solution has been developed for a fluid layer of finite depth and exponentially varying density. It is found that the stability criterion remains unaffected by the viscosity parameters, although they influence the rate at which the unstable stratification departs from the equilibrium position. The question of excitation of waves has also been considered in detail.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish several recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of progressive Type-II right censored order statistics from an exponential distribution. These relations may then be used, for example, to compute all the means, variances and covariances of exponential progressive Type-II right censored order statistics for all sample sizes n and all censoring schemes (R 1, R 2, ..., R m ), mn. The results presented in the paper generalize the results given by Joshi (1978, Sankhy Ser. B, 39, 362–371; 1982, J. Statist. Plann. Inference, 6, 13–16) for the single moments and product moments of order statistics from the exponential distribution.To further generalize these results, we consider also the right truncated exponential distribution. Recurrence relations for the single and product moments are established for progressive Type-II right censored order statistics from the right truncated exponential distribution.  相似文献

The main aim of this study was to synthesis of poly (lactic acid) (PLA)‐graft‐glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as well as its influence on the properties of PLA/banana fiber biocomposites. PLA‐graft‐GMA graft copolymer (GC) was synthesized by melt blending PLA with GMA using benzoyl peroxide and dicumyl peroxide as initiators. Graft copolymerization was confirmed by FTIR and 1H‐NMR spectroscopic studies. PLA/silane treated banana fiber (SiB) biocomposites with various GC concentrations were prepared by melt blending followed by injection molding techniques. The influence of GC content on the mechanical, thermal and moisture resistance properties of the composite was investigated. The addition of 15 wt% GC content in the biocomposite provided optimum tensile and flexural strength, which is attributed to the greater compatibility between fiber and PLA matrix. The thermal properties of biocomposites have been evaluated using thermogravimetric analysis which provided evidence of improved interfacial adhesion between SiB and PLA by the addition of GC. Additionally, GC enhanced the moisture absorption resistance of biocomposites. These results indicated that GC is indeed a good candidate as a compatibilizing agent to improve the compatibility in PLA/fiber biocomposites. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Analysis of combined free and forced convection through vertical noncircular ducts is carried out using a variational technique. Fully developed flow with uniform axial heat input and uniform peripheral heat flux is assumed. All fluid properties are considered invariant with temperature except the variation of density in the buoyancy term of the equation of motion. The condition of uniform peripheral heat flux is utilized in deriving the variational expression. This procedure releases the thermal boundary condition from satisfying exactly the condition at the wall. A finite-difference procedure is carried out. For pure forced convection case, a particularly simple variational expression is presented. Nusselt numbers for combined free and forced convection are computed for rectangular, rhombic and elliptical ducts. An exact solution is presented for laminar forced convection through elliptic ducts. Variational results are in agreement with this exact solution. The present results are compared with those in the published literature wherever possible, and good agreement is obtained.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish several recurrence relations satisfied by the single and the product moments for order statistics from the right-truncated generalized half logistic distribution. These relationships may be used in a simple recursive manner in order to compute the single and the product moments of all order statistics for all sample sizes and for any choice of the truncation parameter P. These generalize the corresponding results for the generalized half logistic distribution derived recently by Balakrishnan and Sandhu (1995, J. Statist. Comput.
